My local library somehow has volumes in great condition that are 15+ years old…. Whenever I pick up free to take copies they are always in amazing condition.
Thank god for eBay. I looked at Beckett for slabbing (not grading just slabbing) my manga and just two manga would cost close to $75 because of the outrageous shipping fees. Now that I know about those plastic cases I’m going for those instead. Beckett would have been nicer but that is a lot of money for what are essentially decorations
10000% agree I dont recommend them for just protection. Maybe if you have something extremely valuable or signed (they authenticate also) and then its still for display. The ebay hard plastic holders are great imo and I do recommend them 100%
I picked up vol 1 of foodwars , dragon ball vol 1 to vol 16 in 5 omnibus's & part 3 vol 4 of jjba today out to timemaster. Also on the 1st of may im planning on ordering dont toy with me miss nagatoro vol 16,vol 5 of boy's abyss, vol 12 of bluelock , vol's 2&3 of food wars.
similar theme: how do you deal with miscut covers (i.e. one vol out of a series i cannot find a volume with the cover coming all the way to the edge of the book. ive noticed it waaaaaay more with viz printings personally)
@@Bon_Moment_Gratuit Ohhh gotcha. Well only one side will be showing at a time. I reccomend the plastic cases I show off at the end you can get off ebay. That way you can keep it safe and also flip the cover if you ever want to see the other side.
I used to put my books on plastic as well cause it's dusty in our place no matter how much we clean. Until I found an article (I forgot if the person who posted it is an archivist or a librarian or something like that), it was a bit of a long article but basically, they advised not to put the books on any type or plastic because it can trap moisture, which is a big cause of foxing. I'd rather have a tanning book than have a foxing one so I had to remove the books from their plastic. I still have a few books on plastic cause I totally forgot about them, and they are inside a non-acid plastic for years. When I compared those I removed and those I didn't remove, there's a lot of foxing on books that are still on plastic. The article also mentioned that there's really no way to stop the books from aging/tanning, there's just a couple of ways to slow down the process. My problem after removing the books on plastic are the splitting edges on the corners of the covers. I found a resolution though from one of my local manga groups. I was advised to buy Booker-kun covers and they are wonderful! It protects the covers but it doesn't protect the pages. And the downside though, it doesn't look that pretty because it's glossy.
Yup that is correct. But the humidity is more important than everything. If its correct having comics and manga etc bagged will not hurt. Then obv vacuum sealed is good also. I dont bag or put any manga in any kind of plastic but if I had to Id prob go with the hard shells since they are not trapping air like bagging does. Great points!
Nope! Still not for everyone, still not hurting the secondary market at all, still only worth it (imo) if you have something special to keep protected and display(you could just get it slabbed instead of graded also etc) even then it can be a reach. etc tec
if you have boxsets just put them in there. Nice and easy! Guaranteed no sunlight damage Also I found your channel today, very fun content and great tips!
Protect those manga people!!
Yes master sloth 🙏
Sure, considering the price in my country is expensive 😀

Manga sloth? More like manga master!

If you had to choose only one manga series to read, which one would you choose?
Maybe one piece

No way to personally fix that but I have had those type also. Just got to replace or return those ones.
Finally
But how to protect a double collector cover ?
what do you mean by double cover?
@@TheMangaSloth its a collector whith àn illustration cover on the both side (reversible)

what if paper back mangas have plastic peeling off, what do I do about that?
In that case you have 3 options 1. to cut it off 2. to spray clue it back 3. leave it be. Not great options for that problem
Can you please put the link where you got those plastic Boxes at the end.
Yup! Added it to the description
Thank you I just made my purchase
@@jace4223 nice!!
do those plastic cases youd use have a name? im kinda at a loss as to what i should google for them tbh
Link for them in description!
