where I come from we call these types of dogs "hip hop dogs" because people that think they're "real gangsta" get breeds that "look dangerous". Unsurprisingly, those are also the ones that have the tails cut, ears cut, not neutered etc. It's really a ridiculous projection of masculinity.

hm i never owned or trained a dog before i got mine. but i bought a bullterrier 7 years ago. It was a bit rough at the first year but now the dog i verly well behaved. Sooo yea, every dog can be a first dog, you just need to rly want to do stuff right....and maybe a bit of common sense :)

Well you only should neuter when your dog has problems. Unneutered dogs are fine. Never neutered my dogs and they are amazing.

Its an incredibly extreme and unfortunate situation for the dog. But people have a right to make jokes about a situation which makes them uncomfortable. Just the same as that dog has the right to roam more freely and be more intellectually and ohysically challenged than he was before vicotia entered the situation and trained the people how to be owners

Forget it. I love Presas and big mastiffs. But no way am I touching a Presa that has gone through such a messed up early phase of his life. They are ultra strong willed, extremely powerful, highly protective, fearless dogs that are unstoppable if they attack. No way am I taking that risk. And you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who is looking for that kind of potentially deadly challenge to enter their home.

Aside from leaving the dog for far too long, I'm also mad about the fact that he has such a lack of respect for Victoria. She's taking her precious time to help him, and he shows his best respect for her for coming out an hour late! Thank goodness she has worked with dogs who have taken far longer to respond otherwise like any common person she'd leave by 15 mins tops. But she didn't, because she cared for the dog, and this guy completely took her gracious service for granted! With the "sorry I was working" excuse...Yeah, like we haven't heard that one before.
...and then he turns up, slouching with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. If he had good cause to be late, he could have at least TRIED to look apologetic. Or, I dunno, call his GF to pass on to Victoria that he's sorry but he's running late.
But that would require a responsible attitude.

Aw, Casper seems like a real sweetie, I feel bad for him, holding his pee/poop for that long. He's really gotta work stuff out with his housemates to get that dog going to the bathroom. Or a doggie door, or a grass mat for inside. So many options for this poor dog. He really doesn't seem that bad of a dog either, very pretty too.

Honestly Victoria’s explanation of neutering to men who don’t want it done is so good, it’s such a good reasoning. Neutering is a mercy for hormonal dogs, not a punishment or a torture.

DUDEEEEE I hate that, like is a freaking dog they are going to bark. I have 2 dogs the girl dog barks A LOT and by watching Victoria I manage to control her.
Barking is communication for dogs, it can tell you a lot about how they feel. I love how Victoria teaches dogs that they can bark at the door once or twice and then they should stop, our dog always barked at the door but now that I say ''That's enough! Thank you'' she actually stops and she learned it very fast! I don't like the people in our neighbourhood that get upset when my dog barks, they say I'm the bad owner but it tells me they don't know dog language that well.
He’s frustrated barking and not knowing why how’s he being cruel that’s a natural human response when we don’t know the problem
This was maybe the most difficult segment of Victoria's show I've ever watched. It's hard to believe that this guy will keep the dog throughout the course of its life.
He doesn't. After Victoria leaves, the wannabe tough guy doesn't follow her instructions and the dog ends up biting somebody.

For anyone that doesn’t already know this, after the show the guy ended up having to go to court after the dog bite someone else because Eric couldn’t train his dog well enough. Victoria even wrote about it on her blog but luckily the dog wasn’t put down and just ended up being neutered
Thanks for letting us know! I wish they did updates way down the line. It's hard to tell how much owners stick to the training & recommendations in the long term.

Yeah, I can't believe that he didn't make the connection between her looking upset and him arriving for a scheduled meeting with her a full hour late. Blows my mind.
It especially pissed me off when they said he could've left work in time, but instead chose to stay longer "to make more money". Time is money - and he just wasted a full hour of Victoria's time...and she is a professional helping him train his dog for FREE. You would think having a trained dog would end up saving him money, given the damage that dog does to the house.

i feel bad for my dog when i have to leave for school , which is seven hours max , with my dad checking in multiple times while he works , with toys and bones AND the tv on. i can't imagine how eric allows casper alone with nothing for almost 13 hours

Oh wow. When I go to classes and have to leave my dog alone for 5 hours I start getting nervous and feeling bad. I have to crate him as well since I’m in school and that’s the policies. I can’t imagine leaving him for 15 HOURS. That’s so long! I feel so bad for pup.
Victoria deserves 5 million subscribers because she is helping dogs that need training and if she is scared of one she still does it and helping a dog shelter to look better that just makes me happy.

I have only a small dog. He spends every day at least 2 hours outside + time he spends in our yard. Me and my husband work remotely different days, so he can get outside in the middle of the day and does not need to be alone most of the days. We never grate our dog or lock him in a bathroom etc, as it is illegal in our country anyway.
It takes lot of dedication to own even a small dog. Please really consider before buying one.

I find it fascinating how people actually believe that neutering is something you have to do or a male dog will misbehave. Castrating a male dog is not something one should do without looking for every other option, it is much much more risk involved when it comes to behavior problem than with bitches.
My dog isn't fixed on purpose (told not to by the shelter and the vet) and he's fine. I'm not planning on breeding him, but it's better for him to not be fixed? If you're responsible it's no problem

When this was filmed it was in NY/NJ area
It’s the accent. It’s mostly people from the East Coast that talk like that and they talk loud too over there. I’m from the Midwest so I have more of a Midwest accent and my voice is quieter. I work with a lady with the East Coast accent and she drives me nuts with how loud her voice is and with some of her pronunciations.
Because that's how it's pronounced. Duh! Especially in Georgia...Go DAWGS!
cause "its me or the dog" was filmed in england and then in new york-ish area. that accent is largely from italian american influence in the area and ended up just becoming a regional accent.

The dog ended up being taken in 2012(this was filmed in 2011) after the dog bit someone on the arm. Dog wasn’t put down but instructed to be neutered and to see a board certified behavioral professional and the dog was placed in a shelter. Can’t find anything recent tho like if the dog was returned to his owner& rehabilitated or put down.
That’s so sad 😞 I can’t say I’m surprised just based on the irresponsible owner, but I hate that the dog suffered the consequences of that ahole’s actions

This particular story does not have a happy ending.
I think this is one of my favourite episodes (all of Casper) because of how dedicated and relentless Victoria is for the sake of this beautiful Presa Canario. Casper is a gorgeous dog and could've had an amazing life if he wasn't stuck with such an appalling owner like Eric. And that's another thing, Eric claims that going out to party isn't his life anymore. He's 20 years old in this episode and he USED to spend all night partying and drinking with friends? I thought the States' drinking age was 21 XD
I read that he got charged $80,000 because casper bit someone because this “man” didn’t keep the training going.

He got that dog because he wanted to look tough, when in truth he's a boy who can't manage his responsibilities. That dog needs 3 walks a day + playtime. He probably went right back to neglecting the dog the moment Victoria and film crew left.

15 HOURS?! My dog asks to go outside to potty every 2 or 3. Then again, all his life, at least 1 human has been at the house with him to let him out every time.
I prefer complete episodes. These truncated episodes tell disjointed, fragmented, confusing, incomplete stories.
The one above suggests that toys are all the training that the dog needed which isn’t true.

I’m human and I would wreck a room to bits if I was kept locked in it all day with nothing to do and not being exercised.
...and after fifteen hours of not being let out, no doubt pee on the floor too!
He basically has no time for the dog. She's not able to handle the dog and sounds like she might be nervous of handling him. Dog needs a home that can give him the time he needs and can handle him. That boy is not responsible enough for that dog. For his family? Sure. But not the dog. Dog deserves a better home and life than what that couple can provide.
But Victoria even said there is no rehoming him. It was clear that Casper has some aggression issues, and being such a big, strong dog, of course no one wants to take him in, even if they're a skilled dog owner. He's a liability at this point, so it's not surprising no one would wanna take that risk. And, like she said, if he went to a shelter, he'd be euthanized almost immediately
