In high school (early 90s) I had a hand-me-down skirt and vest from the 60s. Purple suede, style exactly as you're describing. I passed it on to my sister, and it probably was donated down the line. You have me think about replicating it now. 😊
OK ask and you shall receive! Go check out the Closet Core Crew Slate skirt this month! It’s like they watched your video and released the pattern in response! Love your channel and have learned so much. Cant wait to see the final choice
I’m a bit late to the conversation (on vacation) but here goes: 1. Your silk “pajama” shirt looks amazing on you, both in color and in silhouette! Yes, most definitely yes, add it into your fall wardrobe rotation! 2. The handbag/tote is going to be sensational! I’m so inspired by both the pattern and your suggestion, once again, of thrifting garments for their fabric, material, buttons, etc. Look at these garments in an outside the box way. 3. That silk Destashify buy…that gorgeous silk jacquard! I cannot wait for you to get that one sewn up because, Whitney, as you draped the fabric near your face, you lit up the room! Who knew? 4. The purple faux suede that is crying out to be made into a 7-panel (gore) BEIGNET SKIRT by Seamwork! I’m on my second one and I highly recommend this pattern.
For the purple fabric, how about Love Notions Encore a-line, above the knee view, without the pockets. It has panels, so plenty of scope for top stitching. That patterned silk is gorgeous. What a great find!
I echo many others for the skirt pattern: Taroko, Encore or Quebrada would be awesome. Now you're reminding me that back in the day I had a beautiful electric blue suede A-line mini skirt. Very jazzy. I loved wearing it with a silky orange top. 😊
Love the destashify’s this month! Love the purple suede for a skirt. You made me laugh with “Dallas” and “Falcon Crest” ! Even though that does date us! Thank you!❤
Sew precious fabric -- what a great idea for a challenge! That silk fabric is amazing! Can't wait to see it sewn up. For your purple fabric, Bella Loves Patterns Dulce skirt, the Forget-Me-Not Patterns Sabrina skirt, or the Love Notions Encore skirt.
Love your Timbre. It is so you!! That silk is gorgeous! Both fabrics look so luxurious! Can’t wait to see them made up. What a fun color palette you have for fall!
The blue blouse is beautiful! I’m moving into a house with a nice walk-in closet. I’ve moved from a small condo and my clothes were in a closet, small 2nd bedroom closet, under the bed, hall closet, and dresser. It is absolutely amazing to see everything in one place. I have way, way too much black, and am excited to cull duplicates, worn items, and get organized.
I was on vacation, and I'm just now catching up on my TH-cam addiction. For the purple faux suede, take a look at the Nina Lee Camden skirt. It's one of my favorites. The silk print is screaming Cashmerette Roseclair to me. I hope I'm not too late to get on this bandwagon. 😀
When you said A line suede skirt, I immediately thought of the Juliette skirt by Ready to Sew Patterns. It's designed for faux suede or leather and has some really interesting style lines. I think it would be perfect!
Look at Maison Fauve Grenadine skirt. It’s a free pattern! And the Sinclair patterns Eden wrap dress. They have tall, regular and petite files and bust sizes too!! Both your fabrics would look great in these pattetns
Love the fabrics. I love purple. I’ve got a challenge going on. I have 2 months to get ready for our semi-annual trip to Florida to visit family. We leave Nov 1 and comeback Dec. 26. So much to do. I want to make couple more things here and then get some things cut out to sew down in Fla. I don’t like wearing pajama bottoms to bed. So in winter I’ll pair my pajama bottoms with night gowns and then the pajama bottoms come off when I get in bed.
I've shortened the Seamwork Sawyer skirt to a "mini" length and I love it. I really thought I was past short skirts, but it's so cute. It would look amazing in that purple!
The color blue of your "pajama" blouse is beautiful on you! Cannot believe you found the silk fabric in all the colors. I think the purple faux suede looks good with your coloring, even closer to your face. Last year I made a faux suede jacket and topstitched the seams but didn't hem the sleeves or bottom and it's been great. A slouchy shoulder bag might be a fun use of some of that leftover fabric.
Nice makes! Your plans are great as well. I think it to stitch has a skirt that would work great. It starts with the letter T. Edited: voice texting never works. It is the Taroka skirt by itch to stitch.
Yes, True Bias DOES have a skirt like that! I got that Blair skirt and got it printed and still haven't sewn it up.....thanks for the reminder! 😁😁 This is the perfect time for getting that going! 👍
I think you could hack the Itch to stitch Taroka skirt for the purple fabric. Its a great a-line skirt. I've made it up a couple of times. Good luck. Love your videos.
I'm definitely going to have to pick up today's FF. I love a good hooded top. I'm not sure I have "precious" fabric in my stash, just fabric I haven't sewn because sewing is not a thing I do a ton of right now. (trying to change that)
Love your purple.... there's the original Colette Ginger A line or the seamwork leonora if you wanted seamed. I made that years ago and it was more A line than the pattern pic suggested.Pauline Alice have one or theres a newer True Bias one too!
Beautiful makes and fabrics for the next months makes. Madebycathcraft has made the grainline studio Moss skirt several times and they always come out cute….you have lots of suggestions…. Good luck choosing which to make. ☺️. Would you make a blazer/jacket from the leftover faux suede to go with your silk dress? Enjoy!
Somewhat of a wild card for your skirt: consider the Bernadette Skirt by Friday Pattern Company. I love this pattern and have plans to make it out of a printed corduroy for fall. And seriously, how cute would that belt/bag be in the microsuede??? Check it out!!!
For a retro A-line button front skirt try Ellie and Mac Adult A-line, Grainline Studio Reed Skirt, Burda 6252, McCalls 8293, New Look 0449, and New look 6346 .
I'm sure you're too busy for me to be making video requests but....have you ever made faux welt pockets? I want welt pockets on the back of my pants but I never use them and in some RTW pants the pocket bag rides up my bum cheek 😮😂 so seriously, what's the point?! 🤣 And many people are too scared to sew welt pockets, right? So I thought sewing a faux one would be the perfect solution! Unfortunately I'm not finding info online on how to do it nor am I finding patterns that have them... Love your channel!!! And adore your colours too!
Check out my video of the sew along for the Itch to Stitch Upland trouser th-cam.com/video/iv0pxYzd8MY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MC9R8cl--dqbygsa You could use the pocket method in this video but instead of making the pocket, you could cut the pocket pieces super short and eliminate that fabric.
Wash before sewing. I remember going out to dinner with my aunt and uncle in the ‘70s. She dripped a few drops of water on her dress and ruined it! Wash first! I worked in a dry cleaner and you do not want Penethline chemicals near your skin.
Are you still a subscriber to Gertie’s Patreon? What about the Study Hall Dress for the purple suede? And by the way, unless it’s the camera playing tricks, that looks like a Spring violet to me (I’m a Spring also) though perhaps not on your palette… Anyway, it’s got amazing pockets and you could always scoop the neck, wear jackets, cardigans and sweaters over it - and it comes in 2 lengths. Also, you could probably make it into a skirt and keep the super pocket too! 😊
I have used McCalls 7316 a-line skirt pattern. It’s a 1994 pattern. Very easy, 4 views. Just checked and eBay has some copies, so it should be available if interested.

Stay tuned!
LN Encore skirt would look great in the purple.
Yes!!
For the purple fabric, how about Love Notions Encore a-line, above the knee view, without the pockets. It has panels, so plenty of scope for top stitching. That patterned silk is gorgeous. What a great find!
They are both great finds!
As a high school student in the late 1960s, A-lines were what I made --- so I am sure there are tons of "vintage" patterns that will meet your needs.
There are so many great suggestions pouring in!!
The purple suede reminded me of my 80’s sewing queen Shirley Adams. Some of her videos are on TH-cam. Her stuff was amazing.
Now I have to go look her up! Thanks for the tip!
I echo many others for the skirt pattern: Taroko, Encore or Quebrada would be awesome. Now you're reminding me that back in the day I had a beautiful electric blue suede A-line mini skirt. Very jazzy. I loved wearing it with a silky orange top. 😊
I love blue and orange together too. But everytime I wear it my husband (Chiefs fan) thinks I look like a Broncos fan. 🤣🤣🤣

The video with your fall planning had a fabulous widelegged green pants...that purple suede would be fun in wide legged pants!
Oh YES! That would be super fun!
