I used to date a Singaporean girl and she always failed to explain what these were, just said in SG people add "extra words that do not mean anything". This video just explains it straightforward, it's like saying "duh", lor

Yep many people who just grew up speaking the language and never understood it from a linguistics POV find it hard to explain the intricacies and grammatical features well, as it just comes naturally to them! Happens for any native language tbh

Singlish got so hard to learn meh? You listen to your colleague speak can liao lor. Also hor, must practise everyday ah! My American friends always say "Teach me Singlish leh..." But then I really don't know why siah. I tell them them, "OY, we are in America lah, use Singlish for wat?"

Thanks for this video! I like the creativity. The modifier particles don't seem too hard... but I really had trouble understanding this speaker's words. Many of those words I never would have guessed without them being written out. For example, his "one" sounds like "on" to me.

Singlish is the worst language in sea imo. I can even understand TH, VN or any other asean countries english better than SG. I literally asked the immigration officer "pardon" 3x about what shes saying before i could understand it. The biggest problem is trying to talk fast even if you know the words but cant pronounce it well.

I am sorry but ‘singlish’ is just incorrect English come on, you talk about it like it is a dialect, dialects or accents such as Australian English, or Irish accent or UK accent, these dialects are still grammatically correct. Singlish is just Fd up, also lazy and not pronouncing half of what you should. Very ugly. We should refuse this so called singlish to be acknowledged, it is just a reason for them to accept people who can not speak proper English
