I was never insulted by that cos Best raced the 250cc USGP at Unadilla and he didn't finish last. Wendell was who was beating guys like Carlo Coen and Just McMillen before he moved to Fla. and they rose to the top of their game. There have always been Black pioneers in this sport. Sometimes Matthes does the privateer life and the guys are on teams that transport their bikes, pitting out of a big rig, with a paid mechanic.. they may not be on a factory team but that's far from privateer. The guy racing out of his van is privateer life. This guy has a cool story and vibe, I'll be watching and rooting for Kerrison.
It would be awesome to see Deegan, Hart, Twitch or a few people who have similar privateer stories come through and help this dude out. This guy is a great ambassador to the sport.

Wow! Rashidi Kerrison is a fantastic young man. I met him in 2003 when I made the switch to KTM. He was on the 125SX and I was on my 250SX. As per my usual I was surprised to see another Black guy and the Journalist in me started asking him a bunch of questions. My Soul felt the connection and I asked if he wanted to try my bike. He took off right into a HUUUGE double jump at Raceway Park in N.J. 😳😲😳 He had yellow Amateur plates like me but little did I know he just moved up from the mini class and wouldn't last long in the Amateur class. He and the guy he didn't want to mention, another kid I swore if I got rich I would sponsor both of these guys, Phil Nicoletti. I watched them grow up from young kids to solid men. 💪🏾😎🇺🇸😎💪🏻 Phil's story was similar on the local level. Back then I was a somebody in the MC world as a moto journalist for Cycle News, MX East, mxamerica.com, Motorcycle Racing Action and Raceway News. Young Phil used to come to the races with his dad in a rusty pickup truck with duct tape holding truck and bike together. I would tell him, "Pull the holeshot so when I send the race reports to Cycle News your name will be with the credit. If you know Phil, ask him, he remembers me. Back to Rashidi. I often ran into him at the races with his mom. And like the Stewarts, the real athleticism comes from Rashidi's mom. She's 110% percent behind Rashidi like the moms of others top riders like Millsaps, Tichenor, and Carmichael. I'm SUPER PROUD of Rashidi like he's my own son. He's doing what his heart led him to do: join a tribe called Motocrosss, and he's risen to the level of Pro which 99 percent who start this journey will never achieve. I don’t know the man, but this guy seems like a genuine dude who is following his dreams of competing as a pro motocross and supercross racer. Industry folks need to see this and throw some support around him. As well we all should be contacting our local shops to see if we can get him some support.

I was just like this guy back in the 90's when I raced pro. I can relate to everything he is saying. The only difference is he has a lot of social media platforms where he can be noticed. Social media platforms did not exist in the 90's.
Same here as you. In the late 80's I raced 125 and 250 pro. I carried both bikes in a 1986 Chevy S 10 truck. Single cab. I didn't have room for a passenger because I had to keep my gear in the front seat. Actually made enough money to support my racing and living for 3 years because of local pro purse in the state of Georgia. One of the greatest and fun times in my life. Stayed in alot of roach motels and slept in tents at the races. Would have loved to have had a van. Lol.

I`m gona say it. This guy is struggling because of the underlying racism in motorcycle sport. Especially here in the UK! For such a long time motor sport has been white dominated and its about time guys like James Stewart Jr, Antonio Lindbäck, Lewis Hamilton made noise and all ethnic minority groups of people began to attract the attention and gain the encouragement they so deserve. My little 4 year old grandson is absolutely motorbike mad and also mixed race and we have already experienced the underlying racism that infects our chosen motorsport. You have our full support Rashidi Kerrison. Give it big guns for yourself my man and the wider community.
