    Hype Kills Careers. Villopoto was overlooked as he didn't win as much in the amatuers but he turned it around. Such a badass, his time was coming and it came at the right time.

    • @snowzZzZz
      @snowzZzZz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's what worries me about Deegan, no offence to him. People are already putting him in the same sentence as McGraph, Stewart, Carmichael, Reed, Dungey, Villopoto, etc...

    • @snowzZzZz

      Jett too, although his speed and finesses is probably the best in the 250 class and he did win a championship convincingly.

    • @eric6rock
      @eric6rock 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@snowzZzZz But at the time being in the late 2000s. Was not talking about our current era.
      Jett came in and fans were hyped. Almost taking home his first win but having that crash, 2 years later he delivered supercross wins and 250 Mx Championship.
      Yes, I was bummed he didn't make it to Anaheim but he will back in the east coast.
      Jett is awesome personality, fitness, and mentality. The best young talent as of yet

    • @snowzZzZz
      @snowzZzZz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eric6rock agreed, Jett has proven himself. He's the only rider that can consistently beat the star Yamaha 250 riders and he hasn't even reached his full potential, I just hope he doesn't end up with too many injuries. I think he's the fastest in the 250 class. Hunter is just as skilled but a bit more cautious since he's already dealt with a lot of injuries.

    • @zacharyradford5552
      @zacharyradford5552 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Hunter is a more rounded rider. I’ve notice Jett start to panic and rush especially when he has bad starts. I’ve also noticed that if he crashes once in a race he’s gonna crash again.

  • @yzmoto80
    @yzmoto80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Alessi had the talent coming through the amateur ranks for sure, but it almost seems like he “walled”. When he hit the pro ranks he just kind of “ plateaued”, and he was plagued with bad luck and severe crashes/injuries/surgeries . It just wasn’t in the cards for Mike.
    I think that was super tough on him. And I don’t think it was from a lack of physical training either, just maybe a lack of “the right training”.

    • @ronk6553
      @ronk6553 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Amateur races are short. Good start and 5 laps he will win. The pro races are so much longer he would always get caught and passed.

    I wonder if Alessi was on a Japanese bike if he would have had the little bit extra speed to keep up with Vilopoto. You can see that KTM dancing through the chop where the Kawasaki was much more stable. The PDS system doesn't fair well against a linkage system.

I think either he wasn’t in the best shape or atleast at times couldn’t go the same speed for most of the race for what ever reason but the speed was there a lot of the time indoors and outdoors especially and that plus being a fucking awesome starter he could’ve definitely accomplished more .. he was always very humble about getting smoked so ya definitely respect him and a fan for sure .. problem with always getting holeshots is you never learn how to win races from grit and raw speed, you never learn how to pass, you never learn how to turn desperation into results.
    So when you are finally put in that position and a guy that was forced to compensate with speed learns to start, or has the time to catch you, it's obvious who is better prepared to win.
    It's also discouraging when you holeshot but fall backwards, so this takes a toll on confidence and self belief.
