Shadowheart's 180 always made sense to me because of the line that goes something like "admitting who actually gives her power now might break her for good" after she spares nightsong. In DnD clerics power entirely comes from their deity's favor, so the fact she still has magic after defying Shar means Selune is favoring her. You kinda have to change allegiance at that point.
on one hand - yes on other hand - breaking the oath drops you to level one (with some extra steps) they could have just told you "Shadowheart is fucked, pick Paladin Fighter or Rogue as her new class"

She doesn't even really 180. Yeah, she clearly doesn't like Shar, but she states herself that she isn't going to start worshipping Selune immediately either. Her motivations in act 3 aren't to do what Selune wants, they're to do something she needs to do for herself.
They should make a special ending for this feat where the entire city and surrounding area is empty with only the sound of the wind blowing for ambience.
The next patch they said there's a few more evil endings coming and most (if not all) aren't Dark Urge specific so I'm guessing there's an ending where you wipe the "main" NPCs, factions, groups and stuff. Especially since this type of playthrough is one quite a few people like to do, if for no other reason than to just see what would happen so getting an ending where you have killed basically everyone who could and would help you in the final battle seems like a no brainer to me!
54:15 Sarevok is Durge's half-brother. He's Orin's grandfather, and father. Orin's Bhaal's Granddaughter/Great-Granddaughter. Durge's only parent is Bhaal.
Could be argued that they aren't even half siblings, considering Durges birth and the circumstances, they could be seen as just being an "aspect" of Bhaal himself rather then his actual child like mentioned in the game.
Tbh I feel like Lae’zel tries to stay loyal to Vlaak’ith but when faced with hard evidence about Orpheus and the truth is when she turned her back to Vlaak’ith, probably more out of anger to her than loyalty to Orpheus. Lae’zel = 🐐

I mean technically you didn’t need to kill jaheria, Orín can only kidnap Lae’zel, Gale, Minthara, or Halsin. She kidnapped Yena if none of the others are available (if they are in your active party or not at your camp at all)

For the bank vault, you can throw water on it and electrocute it to automatically open it with no combination shenanigans btw. It makes life easier in future runs for you :)
There's also a note upstairs, behind some red locked doors, that has the code. Or you can just learn it once, since it doesn't change between playthroughs.

I remember shart having one about not knowing where her powers are currently coming from and you can be like "I've got a pretty good idea" and she'll be like "I don't want to think about that right now" Or something along those lines Even by the end of the game in the reunion Shart is still struggling with the whole Cleric of Selune thing.
When Shadowheart switched sides she didn't even realized at first, we have a piece of narration stating that we shouldn't tell her how she was still able to use her powers after betraying Shar because it would be the last straw to brake her for good. Also, she kind of need something to empower her since now she have a target on her back and her objective is inside the wasp nest.

For the Gortash coronation scene. You kind of went through a lot of trouble for nothing. In my Durge play through I took the bargain he offered and left, after I came back (not sure if I long rested or not) every single noble and their bodyguards were murdered.

Shadowheart and Lae'zel do not turn on a dime. Maybe if you're avoiding everything but the main story it may seem that way but Shadowheart saw a literal angel of Selune who convinced her to stay her hand AND promised more answers. Lae'zel got to actually see her prince, had a terrible interaction with Vlaakith the first time, and has had Voss approach her multiple times about subverting Vlaakith.
Damn Esterion is such a creative and unique character! I wish they were an origin character! Edit: Holy shit, Shadowlung is so cool as well! You got a knack for this.
You mentioned how annoying it was to fight Haarlep in the House Of Hope. I took a strange approach to fighting him that avoided his little invulnerability trick. The thing that makes him unable to be hurt more than once per turn is a Reaction. But you can only take one Reaction per turn. So if you can make him perform another reaction first (or stop him from taking reactions), he can't do it. There are probably better solutions, but mine was to run up to him at the start of the round, and then run away from him so he would Opportunity Attack me. That uses up his Reaction for that turn, and everyone else can then beat the tar out of him. Repeat as needed.
If you kill Oskar in act 1, then go to lady jannaths home you can see a bunch of people walking around browsing the art. I accidently killed him in one of my playthroughs and when I did reach her home it was different, the home wasn't broken, bunch of people walking around, and lady jannath showing off Oskar's art. Though that doesn't get rid of what Oskar did previously, if you go up to his paint area he still did do the dealings he made with the mummy lord and other shenanigans.
Are you sure you had to kill everyone during gortash’s ceremony? During my run, when I went in here later in the game to kill him, and the entire room was filled with bodies. It very well could’ve been the entire audience, but I’m not 100%. I applaud the effort though!!
There's a Baneite guard in the room at that point who explicitly says that Gortash killed all of the patriars after they made him Archduke. So arguably, killing Gortash at that point might save some off-screen patriars.
Gortash, Balduran and Voss all get a sweet piece of dragon ass but the closest we can get is Miss Dragonborn Throat Singing if we do the workaround to save Alfira 😓

When you mentioned la'zel and the sunrise you reminded me of the clones during the original Star wars battlefront 2. Ayala secura congratulated the clones and the narrator mentioned he was glad they were glad they were helmets. Because none of them could bear to look her in the eye. This was before the inhibitor chips. So obviously it's implied they knew what they would have to do in the end
LOL, the part where Raphael monologues for hours 😂. I agree he talks too much often, but dear lord, his voice is silky smooth to my ears. I wouldn’t mind him reading me bed stories.
Lae'zel's character makes a lot more sense if she is with you finding the Prince of the Comet stories and at the creche where she does everything according to protocol and still her queen chooses to have her killed and then what Voss tells her at the camp that night. Some decisions like these will feel hollow if you don't use them during the campaign.
It’s a shame you didn’t have Gale with you, because if you don’t solve the puzzles and just fight your way through, he’ll respond to the statue congratulating you with a little poem: “A stirring verse, to rouse heroes depleted. But not for us, because we went and cheated.”
When you go to confront Gortash after destroying the iron throne and steel watch foundry I'm pretty sure all the people in the coronation have been killed by Gortash, Although its possible not all of them are dead You'd have to count the bodies and make sure all the names add up. But I'm surprised you didn't mention that
This run kind of made me realise why Paladin is the most popular class according to data Yea it kinda do be trivializing the game really hard on pre tactican (or even pre honour) difficulties, on top of having good conversation skills
I really enjoyed all the videos in this series! The editing and commentary/narration was so elaborate and funny. I loved every part of it XD One thing that's been making me curious is that, although it accomplishes what was promised as best as possible, was killing the party members necessary? Technically, they're playable characters (as in "not NPCs").

I absolutely agree Shadowheart made a 180 way too fast, but I actually like Lae’zel’s arc. The crèche forces her to confront her beliefs in a much better way than Shadowheart does with the Nightsong. (Especially if you have her go to the zaith’isk) Basically, Lae’zel learns that she’s been lied to BEFORE she changes her mind. Shadowheart, for some incomprehensible reason, only finds that out AFTERWARD.
i think the self-doubt and shadowheart's nature as a human has always shone through despite the shar memory loss. I think it's fair that you think the transition was too quick, but I personally reading of her character made it seem like she always had internal doubts about shar.
Shadowheart made more sense to me when you romance her as you see a lot of her doubts in Shar's temple and suspicions about her childhood. Obviously, it's really hard to make every split decision make sense depending on when they happen. They could have taken the option away in Act 3 to make more sense.
I'd argue neither is rushed... Shadowheart begins to show doubt when you save the grove. I guess the problem is that you can get the play off of both changing their mind while getting to skip a lot of the moments that lead up to it.
been waiting for this. started my own "kill everyone" run on honor mode, inspired by this; I'm most of the way through act 2. Looking forward to losing my honor in act 3 due to this challenge. (I haven't been as completionist as these videos; my standard is "can i walk around the world and nobody is left to fight", so some people disappeared for plot reasons. Still killing a lot of people I've never fought before. Also minthara gets to live, to rule alongside me. I'm not a monster.)
Only part way through. Love it, I can't believe the amount of work you put in just to get where I am. With the Judge in wyrms way, I believe putting a sussur bloom next to it turns it into a wraith which is kill-able. But I absolutely accept banished as good enough
Man the deaths of the final companions actually made me sad. The only people Dumpheles was able to stay her hand around, allowing them to find closure…only to kill them right after. she couldn’t even spare the one she loved. In the end, she had no real mind or will of her own. All had to be as the lord of murder willed it, and she was his puppet.
it's crazy to say but i also felt. incredibly attached to la'zel by watching ur play through. seeing you and ur durge watching the sunset made me a lil emotional wise even I knew what had to be done
So interesting, how your Orin encounters went. Mine went so different. Played through twice, with all companions in camp (except minthara). Orin took Halsin in my first playthrough, and Lae'zel in my second.
The fights here are a good example of why you should always pick up the Alert feat for characters with no inherent boost to intiative xD but great work! I never knew you could get a room in the Elfsong Tavern, I will need to head there asap with my party
Hooly shit dude, not only was that challenging from a gameplay experience, but the editing and the EMOTIONAL butchering it must have put you through. I'm so glad I was able to watch this challenging from start to finish, absolutely incredible work!
As someone who doesn’t play the game but watches playthroughs, this was a great journey! Could you do this again in the opposite direction? Kill the least amount of people and make the most morally good decisions possible? Idk if that’d be boring or not, but it’d be a cool contrast to see.
So FTR you didn't have to kill Jaheira when you did in order for Yenna to be captured, because Orin can only take Gale, Laezel, Halsin or Minthara hostage. She also won't kidnap anyone you are in a romance with or anyone in your party. Since you didn't have Halsin, Minthara or Gale at this point you just needed to keep Laezel in the party to force her to kidnap Yenna.
NPC stands for non playable character. Lae'zel, Shart, Astarion, etc are all playable characters bro didn't have to do his companions dirty like that could let them live on a technicality 🤓
Some define it as non player character, and even then they aren't playable before you meet them, so he really should have killed instead of recruited them, the only reason he couldnt is because im pretty sure some have unique characters for their questlines that wouldn't exist without them.
I hope you read my comment as I feel it lacks in other "Balder Gate's 3 challenges" but... I appreciate how detailed you went into the fight of raphael. While before you said "I won't go into details of this fight" (Wizzard) or "this was very tough to deal" with Raphael you went more into detail and that is what I look for more. I actually would like to see/know more of how the battles ensued, how you achieved it rather than see you "did it" as somebody who is mesmerized how anyone can do it. I hope there will be videos detailing more of fighting progress, instead of more "story content", if that makes sense. I truly appreciate it, because most videos like that, it makes me feel people breeze through, and I struggle and avoid with anxiety. I don't know how to explain it, but it made me feel it was more realistic how you went deep into the battles more than "I achieved it", because of course, as video releases, everyone knows you will achieve! But I am always curious how. So thank you so much for this. As a very new bad player of DnD/BG3 it gives me more insight what to do but of course, I also wish you had recording of the entire thing so I can spend 3 nights watching it nonstop!!! Hahaha. 34:45 you don’t have to do the coordination immediately. you can enter baldurs gate and still progress gortash’s story. so it is possible to get those unique kills.

I am on my 6th play through and thought I just about saw everything there is to see. Then I watch this video and discover at least 4 completely new things I either missed or just didn't think to do. Amazing!
One thing i love about Lae'zels character, is that you can accidentally make her a mom! Not even in the fun way, but simply by leaving the gith egg from the Creche in her inventory for the entire game...
You say “accidentally,” but I deliberately persuaded the guy at the nursery to let me adopt the egg so the leaders wouldn’t destroy it for being slow to hatch, and Lae’zel got excited about raising it, so I put it in her inventory so that she could. I’m making her a mom on purpose.

The thing that makes him unable to be hurt more than once per turn is a Reaction. But you can only take one Reaction per turn. So if you can make him perform another reaction first (or stop him from taking reactions), he can't do it.
There are probably better solutions, but mine was to run up to him at the start of the round, and then run away from him so he would Opportunity Attack me. That uses up his Reaction for that turn, and everyone else can then beat the tar out of him. Repeat as needed.

If you kill Oskar in act 1, then go to lady jannaths home you can see a bunch of people walking around browsing the art. I accidently killed him in one of my playthroughs and when I did reach her home it was different, the home wasn't broken, bunch of people walking around, and lady jannath showing off Oskar's art. Though that doesn't get rid of what Oskar did previously, if you go up to his paint area he still did do the dealings he made with the mummy lord and other shenanigans.

Are you sure you had to kill everyone during gortash’s ceremony? During my run, when I went in here later in the game to kill him, and the entire room was filled with bodies. It very well could’ve been the entire audience, but I’m not 100%. I applaud the effort though!!
There's a Baneite guard in the room at that point who explicitly says that Gortash killed all of the patriars after they made him Archduke. So arguably, killing Gortash at that point might save some off-screen patriars.

When you mentioned la'zel and the sunrise you reminded me of the clones during the original Star wars battlefront 2. Ayala secura congratulated the clones and the narrator mentioned he was glad they were glad they were helmets. Because none of them could bear to look her in the eye. This was before the inhibitor chips. So obviously it's implied they knew what they would have to do in the end

Lae'zel's character makes a lot more sense if she is with you finding the Prince of the Comet stories and at the creche where she does everything according to protocol and still her queen chooses to have her killed and then what Voss tells her at the camp that night. Some decisions like these will feel hollow if you don't use them during the campaign.

When you go to confront Gortash after destroying the iron throne and steel watch foundry I'm pretty sure all the people in the coronation have been killed by Gortash, Although its possible not all of them are dead You'd have to count the bodies and make sure all the names add up. But I'm surprised you didn't mention that

One thing that's been making me curious is that, although it accomplishes what was promised as best as possible, was killing the party members necessary? Technically, they're playable characters (as in "not NPCs").

I absolutely agree Shadowheart made a 180 way too fast, but I actually like Lae’zel’s arc. The crèche forces her to confront her beliefs in a much better way than Shadowheart does with the Nightsong. (Especially if you have her go to the zaith’isk)
Basically, Lae’zel learns that she’s been lied to BEFORE she changes her mind. Shadowheart, for some incomprehensible reason, only finds that out AFTERWARD.
i think the self-doubt and shadowheart's nature as a human has always shone through despite the shar memory loss. I think it's fair that you think the transition was too quick, but I personally reading of her character made it seem like she always had internal doubts about shar.
Shadowheart made more sense to me when you romance her as you see a lot of her doubts in Shar's temple and suspicions about her childhood. Obviously, it's really hard to make every split decision make sense depending on when they happen. They could have taken the option away in Act 3 to make more sense.
I'd argue neither is rushed... Shadowheart begins to show doubt when you save the grove. I guess the problem is that you can get the play off of both changing their mind while getting to skip a lot of the moments that lead up to it.
I agree. If you invest time and do certain things, shadow hearts 180 makes sense, but you can still have it happen without the buildup, which is dumb

been waiting for this. started my own "kill everyone" run on honor mode, inspired by this; I'm most of the way through act 2. Looking forward to losing my honor in act 3 due to this challenge. (I haven't been as completionist as these videos; my standard is "can i walk around the world and nobody is left to fight", so some people disappeared for plot reasons. Still killing a lot of people I've never fought before. Also minthara gets to live, to rule alongside me. I'm not a monster.)

Only part way through. Love it, I can't believe the amount of work you put in just to get where I am. With the Judge in wyrms way, I believe putting a sussur bloom next to it turns it into a wraith which is kill-able. But I absolutely accept banished as good enough
Man the deaths of the final companions actually made me sad. The only people Dumpheles was able to stay her hand around, allowing them to find closure…only to kill them right after. she couldn’t even spare the one she loved. In the end, she had no real mind or will of her own. All had to be as the lord of murder willed it, and she was his puppet.

it's crazy to say but i also felt. incredibly attached to la'zel by watching ur play through. seeing you and ur durge watching the sunset made me a lil emotional wise even I knew what had to be done
So interesting, how your Orin encounters went. Mine went so different. Played through twice, with all companions in camp (except minthara). Orin took Halsin in my first playthrough, and Lae'zel in my second.
The fights here are a good example of why you should always pick up the Alert feat for characters with no inherent boost to intiative xD but great work! I never knew you could get a room in the Elfsong Tavern, I will need to head there asap with my party

As someone who doesn’t play the game but watches playthroughs, this was a great journey! Could you do this again in the opposite direction? Kill the least amount of people and make the most morally good decisions possible? Idk if that’d be boring or not, but it’d be a cool contrast to see.

So FTR you didn't have to kill Jaheira when you did in order for Yenna to be captured, because Orin can only take Gale, Laezel, Halsin or Minthara hostage. She also won't kidnap anyone you are in a romance with or anyone in your party. Since you didn't have Halsin, Minthara or Gale at this point you just needed to keep Laezel in the party to force her to kidnap Yenna.
NPC stands for non playable character. Lae'zel, Shart, Astarion, etc are all playable characters

Some define it as non player character, and even then they aren't playable before you meet them, so he really should have killed instead of recruited them, the only reason he couldnt is because im pretty sure some have unique characters for their questlines that wouldn't exist without them.

I appreciate how detailed you went into the fight of raphael. While before you said "I won't go into details of this fight" (Wizzard) or "this was very tough to deal" with Raphael you went more into detail and that is what I look for more. I actually would like to see/know more of how the battles ensued, how you achieved it rather than see you "did it" as somebody who is mesmerized how anyone can do it. I hope there will be videos detailing more of fighting progress, instead of more "story content", if that makes sense.
I truly appreciate it, because most videos like that, it makes me feel people breeze through, and I struggle and avoid with anxiety.
I don't know how to explain it, but it made me feel it was more realistic how you went deep into the battles more than "I achieved it", because of course, as video releases, everyone knows you will achieve! But I am always curious how. So thank you so much for this. As a very new bad player of DnD/BG3 it gives me more insight what to do but of course, I also wish you had recording of the entire thing so I can spend 3 nights watching it nonstop!!! Hahaha. 34:45 you don’t have to do the coordination immediately. you can enter baldurs gate and still progress gortash’s story. so it is possible to get those unique kills.
The lords and ladies at the coronation will disappear :(

Not even in the fun way, but simply by leaving the gith egg from the Creche in her inventory for the entire game...
You say “accidentally,” but I deliberately persuaded the guy at the nursery to let me adopt the egg so the leaders wouldn’t destroy it for being slow to hatch, and Lae’zel got excited about raising it, so I put it in her inventory so that she could. I’m making her a mom on purpose.
