One thing that you probaply knew but forgot to mention: The Player can actually "communicate" with reefbacks with the Cyclops. If you use the airhorn near the reefbacks, they will response. The airhorn sounds very similar to the voices they make, so they probaply think that the Cyclops is one of their kind. It's also fun to paint your cyclops to gray, blue and red, (colour of the reefbacks) and start a "converstation" with them. Let's just hope that the airhorn dosen't mean anything offensive...

Speaking of Reefies, there's been an arctic version of them revealed for Below Zero DLC. It's entirely white with sort of ice breaker on their forhead. On the concept art, they're swimming on the Surface instead of the deep water, allowing for a fauna such as penguins to live on top of it. Also, what breaks me is that in-game, there was a possibility of getting a reefback egg and hatching it in alien contaiment. It was cut, and honestly, seeing how big they can get, I'm willing to say it was a wise idea. I mean, how is that supposed to grow in containment?!
So you say it was a cut feature because of its size , what about the ampeels or the gasopods even If they are smaller than the reefbacks the are considerably large too ( btw in know what you say about the eggs but i found a similar egg near the floating island If You want You can check , i can't since i don't have the alien containing

The presence of Reefbacks is generally a good indicatator of what dangers are in the biome, and they only inhabit 7 biomes, those being the Bulb Zone, Crag Field, Dunes, Grassy Plateaus, Mushroom Forest, Sparse Reef and the Underwater Islands, so when we do the math the odds of you being in a biome without hostile leviathans is 6.3 to 0.7 (or 90% to 10%), so as long as your aren't in the Dunes, if you see Reefbacks at most you will just be worrying about medium sized predators like Sandsharks or Bonesharks.

I once saw the back of an adult reefback on the surface near the life pod. I was “o, what tf?” As I got closer I heard the sound it made and when I went under water I was immediately greeted by 7:00 and I almost peed myself. *That’s how the reefback became my favorite creature.*
Yeah, if anything it was back when it was orange and called the Carar. Was it ever actually canon that most, if not all, species of leviathan were immune?
It would be cool if reefbacks laid their eggs next to tiger plants for protection, like a symbiotic relationship, like the eggs get protection, and the tiger plants get to live on the reefback. I think it's a missed opportunity
Once i was going suuuuper fast in my seamoth so the area wasnt loading in And i saw a reefback fall from the sky and start freaking out in the water It then hit me and i went flying into the sky then landing in the dead zone
I’ve witnessed the geometry problem on Switch less than 2 minutes after a Reaper decided to give my Seamoth a wonderful full body massage and I immediately felt less terrified about everything.

I beg to differ in regards to how safe they are. Accidentally surfacing into a peeper in a cyclops wont harm the sub, but accidentally surfacing into a reefback... Their sheer size still offers some hazard.

These things are usually worth checking for table coral if you need to build a computer chip or fabricator far away from the safe shallows or the lost river.
Yep true :) very good advice!
I once saw the back of an adult reefback on the surface near the life pod. I was “o, what tf?”
As I got closer I heard the sound it made and when I went under water I was immediately greeted by 7:00 and I almost peed myself. *That’s how the reefback became my favorite creature.*
Haha it just wanted to greet you first :) but yeah, no joke - my first time meeting them, I was terrified too!
I found 1 on my first time playing subnautica at night and it scared the heck out of me
The first time I saw one, it scared me too :)
They are one of few creatures who don't have a death animation
That's an interesting point! Thanks for mentioning it :)
Actually quite a lot of creatures don’t.
@@GemmaBee14 its only the reedback, sea emperor leviathan, jelly ray, ghost ray, and crimson ray...
There's something so endearing about the juveniles and their lack of encrustation. Encountering one for the first time was delightful.
Definitely very cute :)
i made a base overlooking the grassy plateaus once, it was really nice to sit in my chair and just watch the reefbacks swimming peacefully
Sounds like a great location :)
reefbacks are also the only place where you can find schools of bladder fish
That's a good point :) I forgot to mention it...
Does anyone else think its strange that everything on SubNautica planet has green blood?
Well I'm not sure it's weird - they are aliens after all :) but it's definitely consistent!
I would also like a carar lore
I’ve never actually seen an infected Reefback
Dunno if their models still spawn in the game :)
Oh that would be a super neat touch :)
Once i was going suuuuper fast in my seamoth so the area wasnt loading in
And i saw a reefback fall from the sky and start freaking out in the water
It then hit me and i went flying into the sky then landing in the dead zone
Haha that's the flawless masterpiece of Subnautica for ya :)
"Entering ecological deadzone. Adding report to databank." *Looks for lifepod* distance: 4375
Well, the reefback is 70 meters long and the sea dragon is 112 meters long
That is correct :)
Funny story, when I was going around in my seamoth a reefback slamed down in front of me. I was pretty suprised!
Not sure how that could have happened :) maybe it glitched itself into the air?
I’ve witnessed the geometry problem on Switch less than 2 minutes after a Reaper decided to give my Seamoth a wonderful full body massage and I immediately felt less terrified about everything.
Haha must've been a great massage :)
@The Last Bacon 5:55 seeing that Reefling on that ones back proves that they look after their young
Yep :) Also the fact that they hang out in herds!
@The Last Bacon a female’s ovaries must be really long for her to lay that many eggs also the male’s mastabation must be really long to fertilise all the eggs
Yesss! Please make more of subnautica lore vids!
I definitely plan to :)
The first time i saw it i though it was the scariest thing, but later into the game the reaper came
Same :) the first time I saw one, I just went ''NOPE'' and ran away...
You always pick the best music!
Thank you very much! I mostly just try picking game-related tracks which don't interfere with what I say too much :)
@@TheLastBacon also, can you make a game manual? Because I'm stuck rn.
one of the funniest Reef Back glitches I've seen is i saw this gigantic Reef Back suddenly fall out of the sky, and then just phase through the floor never to be seen again
Haha I would've loved to see that :D
Imagine a reef back the size of an island
Plot twist - the entire map is on a reefback :D
"No more dangerous than your average peeper."
That one tiger plant on its back: "Am I a Joke to you?!?!"
Well the plant is dangerous :) Not the reefback!
@@TheLastBacon yeah but the plant is on the reefback leviathan so that makes it dangerous to go near some reefbacks.
the crater is actually on a reefback
That would be a twist :)
I beg to differ in regards to how safe they are. Accidentally surfacing into a peeper in a cyclops wont harm the sub, but accidentally surfacing into a reefback... Their sheer size still offers some hazard.
That is a fair point :) also with the potentially dangerous plants on their back....
Ya, but any damage to your vehicles caused by colliding with a Reefback falls on you for not paying attention to your surroundings.
@@TylertheCC1010fan I mean.... ya no thats fair.
Tiger plants= turrets/defence
Base+ Reefback= mobile base and
Once saw a reefback in the surface and it hit my life pod
The reefback would basically be the perfect spot for a base - if it didn't move around all the time :)
Congrats on 100k!
Thank you! :)
