I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and it's brilliant! No retinization or irritation at all. I apply it every other day. I'm nearly 61 and it has worked wonders for me. Love The Ordinary!
Cassandra, for your "open flesh wound," try a large hydrocolloid patch! It blends in better than a bandaid while still protecting the wound. Plus, you can always put makeup on top of the patch. ❤️

The directions on the box does say to use in once weekly for the first two weeks, so results are in two weeks for the first two uses. However I think that’s part of huge appeal/love of ordinary for me is that the products always last longer than I expected them too and then so much cheaper than most other brands particularly in quality the price to quality of Ordinary is nothing normal!
You're such a dork and I mean that in the most adorable and best way 🤣 I literally giggle with you! I bought this and the Ordinary barrier support serum yesterday! I can't wait to see what happens!
I just bought this, and it honestly made most of the bumps (clogged pores maybe?) on my forehead disappear in two uses 😳 As a sensitive skin person I can’t use this daily, though, it really makes my skin more red and sensitive
castor oil has helped me purged longtime clogged pores like nothing has ever done. And I'm someone who can't take that many facial oils. I have asian combo skin that's prone to clogged pores. the great thing is castor oil is cheaper than most skincare you could get out there so it's really worth a try.

Amazing product, smoothing skin even after the first use. I am 51 and new to using retinols/retinoids. I would highly recommend this product as discolorations are going away, skin is firmer and no irritation 🔥🔥🔥
Love retinal! I first used the one from Geek and Gorgeous but my face was really dry despite using the sandwich method. Now I am using the Beauty of Joseon revive eye cream all over my face (except the mouth area) and my fine lines have improved plus my skin is so much smoother without the bumps, blackheads etc.
Hi I tried the Loreal glycolic face wash and took away all the bumps on the side of my face. Also helps with the bumps women get underneath their breasts. Great product.
After using retinoids for the last few years, building up potencies, I just switched to the Naturium Retinaldehyde serum (.1%). I LOVE the ordinary and after learning about some of the drama behind this Naturium brand, plan to try this new product out! It's also especially appealing since it is slightly more potent. But I'm DYING to know your thoughts on this versus the Naturium retinal. It's also interesting to note that their product is also a weird green color which sort of bothers me lol I guess that must be necessary in order to include the chemical in the product effectively.
All Retinals I ever used are a bit yellow. But as long as I use a good base (a good hydrating toner) and damp skin, it spreads quite nicely and you don’t have to worry about the yellow. Buuuut having a generally more yellow skin tone might falsify my perception a bit. So take it with a grain of salt. But in my experience, one pump is more than enough to use on your face and chest.
Great video! I've been on Tretinoin for almost 2 years but I'm continuously peeling no matter how much I moisturize. I'm seriously thinking of changing to this for a while to see how it goes. Thank you so much!
I switched from tret to retinal after 6 years of using tret. Never looked back! I had the same issues with peeling, and I couldn't use any other actives. My skin is much happier now. I used Geek and Gorgeous for a while but now been using The Ordinary's retinal since it came out. I love it.
For the first time in my years of retinol struggle I can finally use retinal every day. 👏👏👏 I have sensitive eczema skin. I did see a lot of improvement in my skin in about a week.

Always always always use at night and if you have sensitive skin sandwich method is best.( moisturizer, ret, moisturizer) . Other acids aren't recommended to avoid too much irritation. Suncreen every single day wide brim hat and shades. These products will make your skin hyper sensitive to the sun aka burning and premature ageing accelerated. Id say a simple non active cleanser( gentle cervae) at night then sandwich method and nighty night. Id say twice a week like a day or two in btwn
I have been using tretinoin for almost 40 years. Several years ago I switched to retinol. I've also used the other ordinary retinol products. I've been using this one for 2 weeks now and it is fabulous!
Girl what's the point of saying "there are better retinals out there" and show a straight up 80 and 60 dollar one. When most peopel who buy The Ordinary buy it cause of it being more affordable then those stuff. Like obviously a more expensive one will have a higher chance of being better.

A "better" retinal than this Ordinary product in my opinion is Maelove's Moonlight Serum. Maelove costs $40, but is also double the volume so really it's $40 vs $30 per fluid ounce for the Ordinary. I also considered Youth To The People's $72 product in my search for the right retinal product. It's a great product, but I personally feel the price is more indicative of the branding than the ingredients. I think Cassandra shows us these products not as affordable alternatives, but as examples of what works well. From there, we can compare products as we come across them. It takes a little time, but I feel Cassandra's videos eventually build up viewers' knowledge of skincare so we can become more autonomous with our skincare decisions!
I switched from my skinceuticals .5 retinol to this product. I’m definitely finding less irritation and flaking. The retinol was working well but I occasionally had to back off for a while and I’m not having to take as many breaks with the ordinary retinal. I hope it’s as effective, it is definitely easier to tolerate.
Thanks for the review, dear. But there are 2 ingredients that I don't like to see: chlorphenesin and acrylates (plastic). What is your opinion on these? 🦋🦋
Chlorphenesin is a preservative to stop overgrowth of bacteria. Acrylates are used as film-forming, thickening , or stabilizing agents. Film-forming agents create a barrier on the skin's surface rather than penetrating deep into the skin layers. They shed off from the skin's surface with sweating, rubbing, or washing etc. So I don’t think we should be concerned about these ingredients 😀
Wow your chest is a lot brighter 😅 I just bought this product today so I will let everyone know what I think off it. I love the colours off the oridinary products .. the pink soothing & barrier support serum & the red pha & bha peeling solution. 🦋💜

Been using retinal 0.15 from YTTP for over 18 months now and my skin was already living its best life. Gave this a try because of budget and what little texture I had left on my skin is gone after 3 weeks. It is amazing. No reaction from my rosacea, I started every other day since my skin was already familiar with retinal. You also need SO LITTLE, a full pump is almost too much. Not sure I'll go back to YTTP if I find a nice serum combining ceramides and 5% niacinamide.
I was interested in this... I have a 0.1 retinal serum (it leaves me yellow as well) and I was wondering do I need te get this one? After this review I may get it :)
@Cassandra you should try the PTR Even Smoother pads on your chest! I got it recently and in 2 weeks of use (4 pads) it smoothed out my rough skin. It has 20% glycolic and encapsulated retinol.
Happy to have come across your videos! I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Oliveda. It’s flooding my social media lol. I’m going to be checking out your videos for mature, dry and sensitive skin as I desperately need some great care.
Also, and completely not an ad, but an actual recommendation... is a serum called 'Advanced A' by DRSQ in Australia, which uses a slightly stronger strength retinal, but cobines with niacnamaide and a bunch of antioxidants. It costs us around $USD 75. Expensive, but it's 30ml and way, way more comprehensive.
I have to disagree about you're saying the tretinoin knowing can't be good unless it costs more. I've been using tretinoin almost 40 years, and quite frankly the ordinary 2% is extraordinarily effective and amazingly gentle gentle. I've been using it for about 2 months now and I'm pretty wowed..
Oh, I need to try this on my chest and neck area, for now I use Avene Hyaluron Activ B3 Night Cream-Avene is one brand I use even though it is not vegan and cruelty free, been using it since I was a teen and it works so good for my very dry and sensitive skin, (tried other vegan and cruelty free brands but somehow for some creams I come back to Avene, I know, I know not good😟😟)
Would definitely be interested in anything you know about treating cherry angiomas as I have a number of those on my chest as well, is retinol effective in getting rid of those at all?
I've bought this and have used it twice. It does give me a little bit of dryness right now, but if I moisturise a bit more with a heavier cream it's fine. I hadn't thought of using it on my chest but I actually have most of the things you also have - new insecurity unlocked, haha. But maybe I'll also try it that way. I do like it a lot, even if it's not that cheap where I am (€27 for a bottle instead of the 15 you're talking about).
For those of us boycotting the Ordinary for being owned by Estée Lauder companies, are there any other good retinal products you can recommend? I don't mind if they aren't quite as affordable. Thanks in advance!
Can you do a comparison between this one and dDermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum with 3.5 retinol, and the Dermalogica Pro Retinol 1% Ionactive serum? Please! This would be super helpful and beneficial to myself as well as several young estheticians I know right now. You have such a great way of explaining things. 😊
Hey Cassandra I love your videos and enjoy your feedback on all things skin. I have fordyce spots on my upper lip… what can I use to reduce or eliminate them, please advise?
I was using tretinoin on my chest on my chest and had to stop. I use it successfully on my face. If I try this on my chest, should I do the 'sandwich'? I did with the tret, but it didn't help. My chest area must be super sensitive!
Would this be OK to use on areas on face with broken capillaries..otherwise I have discolouration/acne scarring, some congestion and fine lines, getting dry now as im 50 this year...🙏🏼
If you do not mind oil based serum, try SkinTra Liquid Happiness. It has 0,3 Retinal, 30 ml and it cost 15 Euros. More potent and a lot cheaper than T.O.. :)
I wonder how this compares to the Geek&Gorgeous retinal serums? they're similar in price. their 0.05% was my introduction to retinoids in general and after a couple years I decided to move onto their 0.1%. in both occasions I started slow (after patch testing) and increased the frequency to every other day. I didn't experience any irritation, dryness or retinisation. for context, my skin type is dry, dehydration prone and sensitive (I have atopic dermatitis), so I thought it was quite amazing that I had no bad side effects from it. I've been unable to use it for the past three or four weeks though because seasonal allergies have made me break out in hives, so I'm not using anything other than barrier supporting and soothing stuff. I miss my retinal so much, my skin feels very congested and my texture is worse 😭
Has anyone with sensitive skin tested this and can give a review how their skin took it? I‘ve only used The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion so far, which was fine, but I wonder if this Retinal might be too much.
I’m still using the Granactive Retinoid Emulsion and so far I love it. Also using the squalane cleanser both day and night, and during the day I use the multi peptide + copper and top that off with the Aloe + NAG. No moisturizer. With the aloe I kinda noticed I didn’t need one. I have the beta glucan moisturizer, but I almost never use it. The aloe is more than enough hydration for me. I don’t have oily skin and while I don’t have dry skin consistently either, I can sometimes lean dry certain times of the year. Mostly my lips. In any case, I’m wondering if using this will be too much. I’ve been using the granactive retinoid emulsion literally nightly with no issues, but I don’t want to use any of the squalane retinoids. I may start by getting this and trying it 3 days per week to see how my face handles it..Maybe this stuff will have me bring out my moisturizer again. I guess we’ll see.
Geek & Gorgeous has a retinal 0.05 and 0.1. I have them both and it gave me some zits but they do dissapear fast. I am in a purging fase. I am so curious to see after 4 to 6 weeks❤ The 0.1 is 18,95 euro and the 0.05 is 13.80 euro. It is also yellow. There is also Transparent lab retinal age reverse cream and is 18,95 euro. But it did nothing for my skin..... Would love to try this. I have other products from the Ordinary. But is not available in the Netherlands and i guess in Europe in general.
I use it every night but that's because I've used retinals and retinaldehydes in the past with no irritations. If you are new, start out as recommended by the company to test for irritations.

I am using and loving it. I live in Spain and they send their products from UK purchased in their web.
what brand is that water bottle?? i specifically like the pop off tops like that!
Medik8 have done a 0.2% Retinal. They were the OG of Retinal.
there price is ridiculous
How does this compare with the Beauty of Joseon eye cream?
Could the bumps between her chest be caused from fungal acne? I wonder if she tried a sulfur soap or sulfur treatment out yet?? Worth a try at least!
Happy to have come across your videos! I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Oliveda. It’s flooding my social media lol. I’m going to be checking out your videos for mature, dry and sensitive skin as I desperately need some great care.
I have the retinoid from the ordinary and now I ordered this retinal, can I use these 2 products together? And how?
Also, and completely not an ad, but an actual recommendation... is a serum called 'Advanced A' by DRSQ in Australia, which uses a slightly stronger strength retinal, but cobines with niacnamaide and a bunch of antioxidants. It costs us around $USD 75. Expensive, but it's 30ml and way, way more comprehensive.
Cassandra, what’s the difference between this presented product and the granactive retinoid 2% emulsion?
Love your videos! They've helped me so much. What is the name of the concealer though?
i saw you put it under ur eyes. is it safe ? i read that retinols are dangerous around the eyes
Oh, I need to try this on my chest and neck area, for now I use Avene Hyaluron Activ B3 Night Cream-Avene is one brand I use even though it is not vegan and cruelty free, been using it since I was a teen and it works so good for my very dry and sensitive skin, (tried other vegan and cruelty free brands but somehow for some creams I come back to Avene, I know, I know not good😟😟)
I had an idea, I’d like to see Dr Dray do dermatology treatments for you ( Cassandra)
Cassandra, have you tried the retinal from beauty of Joseon?? I own it but haven’t started it. I wanna know your thoughts ❤
Check her other videos. I remember that she really likes it.
Would definitely be interested in anything you know about treating cherry angiomas as I have a number of those on my chest as well, is retinol effective in getting rid of those at all?
Have you tried Geek and Gorgeous retinals? Similar price point to the Ordinary!
Your content is always so enjoyable, helpful, and informative! Please keep it up!!!
Do you know if products like these will be available in the EU? I read that they're banning the stronger retinoids there next year. 😢
Yes they are
The tone and overall brightness is the noticeable. It's the first thing i noticed. For $15 it definitely did something good.
Yes this is in Canada! 🎉 I absolutely adore this product!
Would this be OK to use on areas on face with broken capillaries..otherwise I have discolouration/acne scarring, some congestion and fine lines, getting dry now as im 50 this year...🙏🏼
Can you mix it with the niacinamide & zinc, to treat the blackheads?
You would look so good with straight bangs❤
I‘ve only used The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion so far, which was fine, but I wonder if this Retinal might be too much.
if anything helps with those white spots please let us know, I have them too and it's the one thing that doesn't respond to anything.. gonna try this.
Is this like the Geek & Gorgeous A-game 10?
How does this compare to Paula’s Choice 1% retinol?
Geek & Gorgeous has a retinal 0.05 and 0.1. I have them both and it gave me some zits but they do dissapear fast. I am in a purging fase. I am so curious to see after 4 to 6 weeks❤
The 0.1 is 18,95 euro and the 0.05 is 13.80 euro. It is also yellow.
There is also Transparent lab retinal age reverse cream and is 18,95 euro. But it did nothing for my skin.....
Would love to try this. I have other products from the Ordinary. But is not available in the Netherlands and i guess in Europe in general.
I wonder if your using Tret would you need this??
Did you use it every night or only twice a week as the company recommends ?
I use it every night but that's because I've used retinals and retinaldehydes in the past with no irritations. If you are new, start out as recommended by the company to test for irritations.
@@ambrosia7780 thank you. I think I would try it every night as I currently use tretinoin 0.05% every other night.
Hello!!! Que marca es la botella de agua?
Can you try Castor oil on that spot. It would be a good test.
Is this ok if you’re still newer to Retinals? I’ve tried them before, but not this strength. My skin usually doesn’t react to stronger skincare.
I can definitely see an improvement in the brightness and it looks smoother despite feeling them.
How does this compare against the medik8 range? Cos if I can get the same quality at the fraction of a price it’s a no brainier
Only 15ml in the packaging! So little!
