🦋 You are beYoutiful inside and out; I love you!
The first thing I noticed that your chest was brighter
Brighter the better
Cassandra, for your "open flesh wound," try a large hydrocolloid patch! It blends in better than a bandaid while still protecting the wound. Plus, you can always put makeup on top of the patch. ❤️
I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and it's brilliant! No retinization or irritation at all. I apply it every other day. I'm nearly 61 and it has worked wonders for me. Love The Ordinary!
Great review Cassandra ! I've been waiting for an honest thorough review like this one since this product came out. Thank you !!!
So glad to see you again talking about actual products and realistic applications!
Thank you Cassandra, watching your videos always makes me happy. I enjoy your honesty and passion for skin 💜. I think I’m going to try some on my chest too
You're such a dork and I mean that in the most adorable and best way 🤣 I literally giggle with you! I bought this and the Ordinary barrier support serum yesterday! I can't wait to see what happens!
I love how passionately you review products. You do it BEST
I needed a new retinol and didn’t want to splurge again on the Paula’s Choice one, I saw your TH-cam short about this one, instantly ordered it, received it a few hours ago and now I’m sat to hear your thoughts about it 😅
CASSANDRA GURL YOUR INFLUENCE‼️
Can you review the new glow recipe broad spectrum sunscreen stick please? Love your content 🤗
Please come back and share impressions after a few uses
Geek & Gorgeous has a retinal 0.05 and 0.1
Be careful - PC burned/broke out my neck even tho I was putting down a barrier moisturizer first and last! Neck skin is a whole 'nuther animal!
I’ve been curious about this product. But you referenced the Youth to the People retinal (which is what I currently use) so now I’m definitely going to try it! Thank you Cassandra!!
I love this product! I have been using it for over a month and it’s extremely effective
The directions on the box does say to use in once weekly for the first two weeks, so results are in two weeks for the first two uses. However I think that’s part of huge appeal/love of ordinary for me is that the products always last longer than I expected them too and then so much cheaper than most other brands particularly in quality the price to quality of Ordinary is nothing normal!
I think your skin on your chest area looks much better! So much brighter. I think you just need more time for the complete turnover of the skin bumps.. I'm very excited that this product works for you. I just purchased this for summer use and going to putt my rx tret on hold for a few months. Also this would be great for my neck area bc tret is just too harsh for my neck. The yellowness wouldn't bother me bc I have golden light medium skin. Thanks for reviewing!
I will give it a try. however, currently I am using the beauty of joseon retinal eye serum all over my face and the results are amazing.
You can absolutely do that
That eye serum has had a CHOKEHOLD on me for over a year as my all-over retinoid. My fifth tube is nearly empty.
I am using and loving it. I live in Spain and they send their products from UK purchased in their web.
I’ve been waiting for this video!
I got it off Their website a few weeks ago. Have been alternating with the Geek&Gorgeous 0.1 retinal so as not to waste product. Have to say the texture is very nice, have had no irritation or other problems. So far, so good
What do you mean by "not wasting product"? I also have the retinal from GG (although it's the milder 0.05) so I'd love to hear how you think they compare!
@@Sipu97 I just meant I want to use up the G&G I already have,, ie not waste it by letting it expire on my shelf, and also want to start trying out the new one. Too early to compare effect, but as serums, I find the G&G pills a bit, The O does not. They both spread and absorb well. The Ordinary one is quite yellow as many have pointed out, but that doesn't bother me. It's at nighttime only anyway. I will most likely switch to the higher strength provided it's easy enough to get. G&G are impressively quick with their shipping.
Going to order right now thanks to you 😋
Yes this is in Canada! 🎉 I absolutely adore this product!
Your content is always so enjoyable, helpful, and informative! Please keep it up!!!
I can definitely see an improvement in the brightness and it looks smoother despite feeling them.
You’re so funny thanks for making me laugh this morning. I love your videos 😊
I've been haunting them for a retinaldehyde products for years. But I've upgraded to Tretinion.
You would look so good with straight bangs❤
I’ve been using this and I notice a minor difference, but I’ll take it! No irritation and using it 2-3 times a week ❤
Love retinal! I first used the one from Geek and Gorgeous but my face was really dry despite using the sandwich method. Now I am using the Beauty of Joseon revive eye cream all over my face (except the mouth area) and my fine lines have improved plus my skin is so much smoother without the bumps, blackheads etc.
I have the same cup! 😂 loved the video. I've been using the Dermalogica retinol clearing oil & it's MAGIC.. but expensive.. I might need to try this!
The best esthetician! appreciate all the time you spend making these videos 🫶
Happy to have come across your videos! I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Oliveda. It’s flooding my social media lol. I’m going to be checking out your videos for mature, dry and sensitive skin as I desperately need some great care.
I really liked this video!!
Love your videos! They've helped me so much. What is the name of the concealer though?
I love your videos soooo much ♥️
castor oil has helped me purged longtime clogged pores like nothing has ever done. And I'm someone who can't take that many facial oils. I have asian combo skin that's prone to clogged pores. the great thing is castor oil is cheaper than most skincare you could get out there so it's really worth a try.
I think I’m using mine wrong!! How do you use it??
I think calling breasts "the girls" is the best nomenclature
It’s funny she can’t say boobs but she will say f* heaps of times😂
@@kassyabriola8910Maybe because I'm a guy, but I'm less comfortable saying "boobs" than "fruck" 😂 out loud socially (not with close friends), especially nowadays for obvious reasons. That may be part of it, I think.
Wow your chest is a lot brighter 😅 I just bought this product today so I will let everyone know what I think off it. I love the colours off the oridinary products .. the pink soothing & barrier support serum & the red pha & bha peeling solution. 🦋💜
Hi I tried the Loreal glycolic face wash and took away all the bumps on the side of my face. Also helps with the bumps women get underneath their breasts. Great product.
I hope she tells us when to use it - how to layer it - what not to use it with and do we need to wear extra sunscreen etc. I always wonder about these things.
Always always always use at night and if you have sensitive skin sandwich method is best.( moisturizer, ret, moisturizer) . Other acids aren't recommended to avoid too much irritation. Suncreen every single day wide brim hat and shades. These products will make your skin hyper sensitive to the sun aka burning and premature ageing accelerated. Id say a simple non active cleanser( gentle cervae) at night then sandwich method and nighty night. Id say twice a week like a day or two in btwn
Your chest looked obviously brighter ❤
You convinced me. Added to cart !!! 😅
The Mdik8 may give better results but one could buy almost 3 of the Ordinary for the same price.
Cover my whole body!! 😂
I like purchasing it on the allure website lately...just a lil secret discount I use while subscribed. It's the best subscription box anyhow. ❤
I just bought this, and it honestly made most of the bumps (clogged pores maybe?) on my forehead disappear in two uses 😳 As a sensitive skin person I can’t use this daily, though, it really makes my skin more red and sensitive
Thank you for the great review 😀 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The timing is perfect. Mine arrived yesterday.
Which product? I just placed an order.
@@maureengreer2691 the one in the title and thumbnail. The Retinal Emulsion
@@Prinren thank you!
Amazing - let me know what you think!! 💕
Me too, mine came a day early. Perfect timing on this video 😊
@Cassandra you should try the PTR Even Smoother pads on your chest! I got it recently and in 2 weeks of use (4 pads) it smoothed out my rough skin. It has 20% glycolic and encapsulated retinol.
You should try Ameliorate Transforming Clarity Body Spray - it’s amazing for resurfacing skin!
For the first time in my years of retinol struggle I can finally use retinal every day. 👏👏👏 I have sensitive eczema skin. I did see a lot of improvement in my skin in about a week.
I also have very sensitive skin with rosacea - do you use it every night? And what improvements have you seen if you don't mind? Thank you!
After using retinoids for the last few years, building up potencies, I just switched to the Naturium Retinaldehyde serum (.1%). I LOVE the ordinary and after learning about some of the drama behind this Naturium brand, plan to try this new product out! It's also especially appealing since it is slightly more potent. But I'm DYING to know your thoughts on this versus the Naturium retinal. It's also interesting to note that their product is also a weird green color which sort of bothers me lol I guess that must be necessary in order to include the chemical in the product effectively.
I had an idea, I’d like to see Dr Dray do dermatology treatments for you ( Cassandra)
omgggg cass!! I have the same little bumps on my chest/back/shoulder area if you fing someting that work please do a vid!!!!
I’m using Tretinoin for my face But I’m gonna get this Retinal for my neck and back of hands :)
your glands are brighter
I've bought this and have used it twice. It does give me a little bit of dryness right now, but if I moisturise a bit more with a heavier cream it's fine. I hadn't thought of using it on my chest but I actually have most of the things you also have - new insecurity unlocked, haha. But maybe I'll also try it that way. I do like it a lot, even if it's not that cheap where I am (€27 for a bottle instead of the 15 you're talking about).
If that's an owala bottle, I live those but be wary. When you wash there's a silicone piece on the lid that can get moldy you gotta remove it to wash thoroughly
Yay! I'm here early!!!❤❤
All Retinals I ever used are a bit yellow. But as long as I use a good base (a good hydrating toner) and damp skin, it spreads quite nicely and you don’t have to worry about the yellow. Buuuut having a generally more yellow skin tone might falsify my perception a bit. So take it with a grain of salt. But in my experience, one pump is more than enough to use on your face and chest.
Great video ❤
Great video! I've been on Tretinoin for almost 2 years but I'm continuously peeling no matter how much I moisturize. I'm seriously thinking of changing to this for a while to see how it goes. Thank you so much!
I switched from tret to retinal after 6 years of using tret. Never looked back!
I had the same issues with peeling, and I couldn't use any other actives. My skin is much happier now. I used Geek and Gorgeous for a while but now been using The Ordinary's retinal since it came out. I love it.
@@SiriMor1980 That's great to know! Thank you for the information! I'm definitely going to give it a try!
Use a gel burn pad for ur boo boo. I found the aloe in the gel pad works wonders on just about any abrasion. Especially Bruns from damn straight irons lol
Hi Cassandra, have you tried the dermalogica retinol serum & if so would the ordinary be better? Big price difference. Thank you.
I have been using tretinoin for almost 40 years. Several years ago I switched to retinol. I've also used the other ordinary retinol products. I've been using this one for 2 weeks now and it is fabulous!
For the blackheads on the chest you could try a nose strip once or twice a week.
What could also help in the shower, after you've done your normal wash routine, wash just the blackheads area with a soap from lush called Charcoal. Make sure to moisturise the skin after with a not too greasy moisturiser on this area (or SPF during the day). I think if you do this and keep going with the retinal at night, you'll have the chest of dreams. I would also only apply the retinal at night to prevent sun damage.
what brand is that water bottle?? i specifically like the pop off tops like that!
Would definitely be interested in anything you know about treating cherry angiomas as I have a number of those on my chest as well, is retinol effective in getting rid of those at all?
Also, and completely not an ad, but an actual recommendation... is a serum called 'Advanced A' by DRSQ in Australia, which uses a slightly stronger strength retinal, but cobines with niacnamaide and a bunch of antioxidants. It costs us around $USD 75. Expensive, but it's 30ml and way, way more comprehensive.
I am loving your busted up forehead though! Gives character 😊
I was interested in this... I have a 0.1 retinal serum (it leaves me yellow as well) and I was wondering do I need te get this one? After this review I may get it :)
So, how does this compare in potency to Tretinoin? I've been using 1% retin a for at least 4 years. Is this just as good?
How many times a week do you use it? Thank you for a great video as always
Hey Cassandra I love your videos and enjoy your feedback on all things skin. I have fordyce spots on my upper lip… what can I use to reduce or eliminate them, please advise?
For the bumps on your chest, maybe try an oil cleanser there? I tried an oil cleanser on my chest, and it removed a lot of sebaceous filaments. I started oil cleansing on my shoulders and back, it helps with the bumps.
How does it compare to the cerave retinol cream/serum? Which is pretty great too.
I have a lot of bumpies in that area right now too! (Not normal for me.) Please share what ends up helping you with them. I'm definitely interested in this retinal for it's other benefits, but will still be needing something for the bumpies!
Medik8 has had a 0.2 for sometime. Although it's extremely expensive
Medik8 have done a 0.2% Retinal. They were the OG of Retinal.
there price is ridiculous
Girl what's the point of saying "there are better retinals out there" and show a straight up 80 and 60 dollar one. When most peopel who buy The Ordinary buy it cause of it being more affordable then those stuff. Like obviously a more expensive one will have a higher chance of being better.
Showing… gives options. I worked at a high end store + the mgr got his products + appliances from a warehouse + slapped his business name on it w/a high priced sticker. ‘He laughed all the way to the bank’ at ppl who always thought that expensive means better… like u.
A "better" retinal than this Ordinary product in my opinion is Maelove's Moonlight Serum. Maelove costs $40, but is also double the volume so really it's $40 vs $30 per fluid ounce for the Ordinary.
I also considered Youth To The People's $72 product in my search for the right retinal product. It's a great product, but I personally feel the price is more indicative of the branding than the ingredients. I think Cassandra shows us these products not as affordable alternatives, but as examples of what works well. From there, we can compare products as we come across them. It takes a little time, but I feel Cassandra's videos eventually build up viewers' knowledge of skincare so we can become more autonomous with our skincare decisions!
Everybody is different, I use several of The Ordinary products but I also have products that $80-$180
It would be great if she said what exactly is better about the two options. "Better" is too general.
am I supposed to use this before or after my serums? or should I not use it with my serums ? where can I put it in my skincare routine ? :)
Love u Cass :3
support from italyyy
This is still not available in Belgium and i am waiting sooooo long 😩 there is one site i can order but it costs 17.99 + 5,99 shipping.. guess im still waiting 😅
Please review the new glow recipe SPF!
Can you do a comparison between this one and dDermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum with 3.5 retinol, and the Dermalogica Pro Retinol 1% Ionactive serum? Please! This would be super helpful and beneficial to myself as well as several young estheticians I know right now. You have such a great way of explaining things. 😊
Oh, I need to try this on my chest and neck area, for now I use Avene Hyaluron Activ B3 Night Cream-Avene is one brand I use even though it is not vegan and cruelty free, been using it since I was a teen and it works so good for my very dry and sensitive skin, (tried other vegan and cruelty free brands but somehow for some creams I come back to Avene, I know, I know not good😟😟)
I would love to see a comparison between this serum and the e.l.f. Youth Boost serum.
Hello Casandra I was wondering if you ever plan on using the Age-R booster pro from Medicube. Im thinking about getting it but would love to see your opinion on it.
I switched from my skinceuticals .5 retinol to this product. I’m definitely finding less irritation and flaking. The retinol was working well but I occasionally had to back off for a while and I’m not having to take as many breaks with the ordinary retinal. I hope it’s as effective, it is definitely easier to tolerate.
I would move to Tret if I were you
To get the benefits of retinal without getting that retinization effect, you can try sandwiching it between your moisturizer.
if anything helps with those white spots please let us know, I have them too and it's the one thing that doesn't respond to anything.. gonna try this.
Can you mix it with the niacinamide & zinc, to treat the blackheads?
How does this compare with the Beauty of Joseon eye cream?
Hey! I hate to be one of those people that tell an expert to use woo woo products… but.. I’ve been using Caster Oil and WOW!! It’s amazing all my hormonal under the skin bumps have gone! Not one to be found! My skin has never been so clear and hydrated - I’m not sure what this witch craft is because I am a skin care junkie and I am happy to spend the money!
It might be good for your bumps?? X
Wouldn't be awesome to have a full list of korean brands to select from via your website ? Stylevana didn't select Frudia as CF and vegan :p
Finishing the Geek&Gorgeous 0.1% before switching to this one, which is already in the fridge, waiting to be opened 😹
I know I should search first, but hav u tried elf retinal in the purple bottle?
Can you try Castor oil on that spot. It would be a good test.
If you do not mind oil based serum, try SkinTra Liquid Happiness. It has 0,3 Retinal, 30 ml and it cost 15 Euros. More potent and a lot cheaper than T.O.. :)
Would this be OK to use on areas on face with broken capillaries..otherwise I have discolouration/acne scarring, some congestion and fine lines, getting dry now as im 50 this year...🙏🏼
Its great i allso love it under the eyes 👀
Cassandra, what’s the difference between this presented product and the granactive retinoid 2% emulsion?
Cassandra, have you tried the retinal from beauty of Joseon?? I own it but haven’t started it. I wanna know your thoughts ❤
Check her other videos. I remember that she really likes it.
what product would you recomment for face scars i got some faint ones due to the needle work of electrolysis
I wonder how this compares to the Geek&Gorgeous retinal serums? they're similar in price. their 0.05% was my introduction to retinoids in general and after a couple years I decided to move onto their 0.1%. in both occasions I started slow (after patch testing) and increased the frequency to every other day. I didn't experience any irritation, dryness or retinisation. for context, my skin type is dry, dehydration prone and sensitive (I have atopic dermatitis), so I thought it was quite amazing that I had no bad side effects from it. I've been unable to use it for the past three or four weeks though because seasonal allergies have made me break out in hives, so I'm not using anything other than barrier supporting and soothing stuff. I miss my retinal so much, my skin feels very congested and my texture is worse 😭
Thank you for this! Would be happy, if you could compare Medik8 crystal retinal 20 to this. Inci list is too difficult for me.
