@GatorDrummer it’s not that the camera is bad. If you’re a drummer you should know that sound and bass create vibration in the camera lenses. Notice how it becomes clear in between songs

I love those 16ths rests when the whole band dose this then lazerly but they'll go quarter rest this is the base timing cause that note opens up spillways as far as any music style it enables us to time shift feels change. U guys know that type of playing where the song can sound like two different songs , like when can't quite hear it. That feel is when I think we accurly start to play music at its best . I've found that , in the rehearsal room ,when some musicians come in to see what drummer and base player are doing holding solid rhythm with plenty of breathing space. The guys joined in for a jam with us . Yeah that's what I need right now to remind my that's why I learnt the drums . Now these boys make you kinda feel like practising even just play open stuff across the top end and trying to get kick on those notes that give that pulsation with a single kick pedal. It's very inspirering to listen to this extreme metal. Personally I like hard rock , plenty of power with a hint country weston with Spanish flamingo feel . Pleanty of power more than enough watts , as we do need plenty of power still in the box yeahhhh ,
I think one of my favorite things about AAL shows (other than my favorite drummer, and one of the best guitarists on the planet) is the love that people make sure Javier gets. Last one I was at, we had a moment, and I see that they had some time to love Javier here too.
Totally! When he first joined the band, I was actually low-key "worried" because all his live stuff was him doing a straight nutty solo for the entire song; it was just too busy. Then he recorded an album and it was clear that he could dial it back when he wanted. As much as I love crazy drums, I want to enjoy hearing some of the other musicians too!

@@Childofbhaal Dude Gavin Harrison is an absolute beast and a phenomenal drummer. Probably in my top 3 of favorite/best drummers, along with Matt Garstka. And Harrison always has the best sounding drum kits. However if I were betting money on it, I'd bet that Matt has more technical ability than Gavin.
@@Gawillamon I agree for sure dude. I just think that Gavin’s playing is so musical it makes up for the technical ability. I would rather listen to Gavin any time of the day than Matt even though Matt is absolutely incredible. Gavin just had so much more groove and musicality to his playing. That’s my opinion and not objective in any way but idk
It’s surprising to me garstka hasn’t figured out a good way to tighten his cymbals down. every single show he has some minor problems with the nut always coming loose cause he uses the twisting ones on the stack and crashes. He should get cymbal nuts that lock or find the perfect size felt where you can tighten all the way down and still have the cymbal either loose or tight depending what size felt you use. It’s a pet peeve of mine lol the fact that one of the best drummers in the world always has to fidget with his cymbal nuts literally in the middle of every song and at the end of every song. His stack is also always getting loose and he has to give it a big turn in the middle of a song. I use his same exact signature fat stack and have it set perfectly and it never comes loose. Just gotta find the right size felts for the different tension you want. Obviously I know he knows all this but not sure why he still uses bigger felts that don’t tighten all the way down and keep getting looser and looser as the cymbals move and turn and how hard he hits it’s bound to happen quickly.
I didn't notice that until now. I fidget a lot and can't sit still, a few of my drummer friends are the same way. Maybe Matt wants to keep his hands moving whenever he gets free seconds during or after a song?

During their set at the hard rock during the joy of motion tour his cymbal flew off at the end cause it didn’t tighten it. It’s just annoying to me that he has to deal with that when he doesn’t have to. Lolll. I just wanna find the perfect size felt for him and find some tension screws that tighten and lock unlike the ones he uses which always comes loose since whenever the cymbal turns while you are playing. It is inevitable that the cymbal will turn and move but you can prevent it from actually coming loose with the right felt and screws for the top of the cymbal stand.

In tempting time you can see him twist the entire stack and spin it real quick so that it tightens. I have this exact stack and have the perfect felt to where it stays Same tension every time. Lol.
