      @@CalmBiker I did manage it without any hassle to be honest. It's nice doing little jobs to your own bike isn't it.

    Isn't the Big Round knurled nut on the clutch cable a locking nut - and should be snug against the back of the lever instead of near the small knurled one? Otherwise vibration can turn it all in and loosen the cable? Good video though - using the KISS principle is always best. Thanks CB.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It controls the tension in the cable (if it's the one I think you mean). It locks against the metal springy bit (don't know the name) so it can't move.

    Think they go very well with the bike. I know I said before not for mine, but a dark red maybe...
    Do you find the squarer edges are better than the rounded oval ones if you've been out in the wet yet?

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not really noticed any difference to be honest.

    Thanks CB very helpful video, were they the shorty or standard lever. Thanks for mention. RSM8

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are the standard. I think the length of the shorty ones is about the length to the in built weak point on mine.

    Great vid calm. Side note you could pull off the full goatee nicely when you shave again.

      Ha ha! I did have a goatee for a while. The maintenance is too boring though :-)

    Nice colour...looks good with the greys n blues on the xj.
    Tried having a go at doing a video of myself doing the brakes and re greasing bits, failed big style as had so much to do to mine and so little time. Might try again as it failed it's mot on binding front brake and the replacement rear shock I got. Gonna treat her to a Hagon rear shock and progressive fork springs as been wanting to upgrade them. Don't really want to go back to stock yamaha shock as that's 2 it's went through.

      It helps to have a friend holding the camera when you're trying to video a big job. If nothing else, it stops the camera getting greasy. :-)

      CalmBiker and decent light...it's a single brick council lock up I have with no power. Great fun at this of year fumbling in the dark with a wee torch trying to fix things ☺

      LoneRider That's true. I need to upgrade the lighting in my garage too. There was a lot of colour correction applied to this video!

    Ive read the gear box can be clunky with false neutrals, but smooths out after putting miles on the bike - did you find this?

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did indeed. It's a lot smoother now than it used to be and I haven't had a false neutral for a long time. I think it's a case of getting used to it too. It demands a firm shift.

    Are the levers V-trec from Germany?

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid not. They are CNC ones from China.

    Anyone got any tips to loosen a clutch? Ive got an xj6 and the clutch is giving me a bad wrist as the lever is hard to pull in

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same on my Z1000SX. Changing to an adjustable lever did the trick for me.
