I live in NYC and worked 1 block away from the WTC on 9/11. That day was devastating for all of us. I started working midtown NYC after in late 2002. We have been to the 9/11 museum twice. It is very moving and yes I cried so much there. The reason why the shopping center is close by (it’s called the oculus), is because on the first floor of One World Trade Center and Two World Trade Center there were shops which I shopped in often on my lunch break. They wanted to bring it back to as much as they could to the way it was before 9/11.
Hello Dez, thanks for another interesting vlog. I am so pleased you had a good time and look forward to you showing us your beauty purchases in detail xx
Oh Dez! I enjoyed hearing about your trip so much!! It must have been so wonderful having that time with your daughter and then getting to meet up with Cindy and Tamara! And you must promise that if you ever get to Chicago, we will have to get together! I also loved how you talked about how important it is to sometimes get time away just to be YOU. I could not agree more! Looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos with all the products you picked up. Such a fun video! Have a wonderful day my beautiful friend!❤️
OMG of course I will - would love to visit with you and see Chicago - all those episodes of ER and The Good Wife/Fight 😉 gave me an appetite for it! Thanks so much dearest Tina ❤️

Hello, my beautiful friend @beautybydez 🥰 I'm so happy you enjoyed your trip here to the States! Loved seeing you, Tamara, and Cindy together! I adore Soho! It's my favorite area in NYC! thank you for sharing! Much love, Cat xoxo
Hi Dez, I think it’s wonderful that you got time with your daughter. My 3 grown children are still very much what my world revolves around. I also admire you for chasing your dreams in your 71st year. Up to now, my life has revolved around others and work. I need to do a little more living while I can. I’m so glad you got to meet up with Cindy and Tamara. I have come to care about so many of the ladies on YT and a meet up would definitely be wonderful. I enjoy your channel & appreciate you sharing your adventures with us too! 😊 Mona
Thanks so much, Mona! I am so lucky that I've been able to do this. I do think it's important to make time for yourself if you can, but I know it's hard. The YT community is such a find, I never thought I would be able to make friends this way, and to actually meet two of them who are exactly the same IRL as they are on screen is so uplifting!
How much fun. I loved hearing everything about your trip. Wish you'd seen more in Philidephia, the home of our nation. There's so much history there plus two great museums. Thanks so much Sandy! I'll have to return. I really want to go to Providence, Rhode Island, where my great-grandmother is buried and "do" New England - so much to see! Interesting re Saks - and remember going to Bergdorfs with my granny - she loved New York and used to stay at the Ritz Tower 😊.
Loved hearing you recount your travels. I am originally from Camden Co. NJ.. City of Camden directly across the Delaware River from Philly. Anyone who remembers the first "Rocky" movie will recall the "Southpaw" reference; "Southpaw/South Jersey/South Camden". I knew every location you visited. Safe travels home to the UK, Dez!
Thank you! I really wish I'd had more time there - I think I was a bit tired from jetlag and also it was very cold, although sunny, and without a working map I was a bit at sea 😊. And of course, had forgotten about Rocky!
Thank you for sharing your experiences in NJ and NYC. What a great trip you had. So appreciated your pictures and descriptions of everything. Loved it all🥰🥰🥰🥰

Dez, wonderful content and a joy to watch. I found you about 6 months ago and I really enjoy you. At 72 years young, I find you so relatable and honest. I too am a big fan of Tamara, and have been for a couple of years. I so enjoy her calm, kind and honest content. So pleased you had a wonderful trip. Safe travel home. ❤😊
It all looks like fun! I used to live on the East Coast and went to many of the places you went to. Do you know if that shot of the Alexander McQueen handbags is in Saks or Macy's? It looks very nice!!
Hello, Dez - Great to see your New York vlog! Thanks for sharing in this lovely chatty format - I thoroughly enjoyed seeing through your eyes and listening to your thoughts. All the best on your return to London - Ruth
Glad you had a lovely trip! And that you got to meet with Cindy and Tamara! Can I say that the wall color and the golden light in this video is very complimentary to your hair and skin! Your hair looks much more golden in this video. I think you are very brave to run all around on trains and subways!
Wow Dez, what a fabulous chatty and interesting video !! Loved it. You had a great time, and very brave to do New York on your own !! I’ve never seen Cindy’s channel, but do watch Tamara, my goodness, she looks so much younger in real life, how weird is that !! Such an attractive lady. Both of them are. Yay for older ladies looking good !! I love your hair colour, it totally changes you, really looks great. I also am a big fan of James Taylor, Carole King etc, just my era . Looking forward to seeing you use all the new products, and thankyou for sharing your trip with us, it was excellent !! 😊
Aww thanks Marjorie! Honestly, those two lovely ladies are as lovely in real life as on screen, and as you say, look younger too! Thanks re hair- I'm going back to the hairdressers in Nov and may try some lighter shades. It certainly makes root touch ups less frequent 😊And ah James and co - they were really something!
So fun!! Traveling is great. Especially with family. Food looks yummy. Seeing Ground Zero is moving. So fun seeing you, Tamara and Cindy together. Love Nordstrom! Nice haul. And is nice to travel. Let me know when you come back to the states. XOXO
It was so much fun! And I will return and won't leave it another ten years - and I will indeed let you know. Would love to go to New Orleans, Nashville and Memphis one day...❤️
You did fantastic… in New Brunswick waiting for your daughter to get off, commuting to Philadelphia, no data on your phone and especially getting around NYC. The subway with its express trains seems a lot more complicated to me than the underground in London. I appreciate your comments at the 9/11 site. I felt touched like when I was there. Looking forward to your next video.
I enjoyed this vlog enormously. Also, I agreed with everything you said about ground zero. I was there in January with my daughter. I think she was rather embarrassed by how moved I was by being there and seeing all the names. I didn’t dare go into the museum as I suspected I would sob my way around. It is all beautifully done.
This was such a fun vlog and I'm heading there soon to visit both of my kids. My daughter lives in the East Village and my son lives in Williamsburg Brooklyn. I agree. Those parts of the city are my favorite too. So glad you had a great time!
I think you showed remarkable restraint! Thought you would buy more! But, that said, other than the stuff at CVS, you can get everything in London in beautiful surroundings! Completely understand the feeling of being yourself when traveling alone - such freedom! Although the actual traveling - airports , security, immigration is such an unpleasant experience these days it does make me think twice! Haven’t been to NYC since Covid - sorry to hear it’s looking a little run down. Sadly that’s true of so much. Happy you were able to meet up with your TH-cam mates!
Hey Dez, I enjoyed listening to your adventure. I must say imo you are brave. I would not feel comfortable travelling alone. Looking forward to seeing your videos on the new makeup you bought. Eva
Thanks so much Eva! I'll tell you something that made me feel very safe when I took an Uber - you can add a friend or family member and once you start your trip they can see where you are the whole time, so my daughter knew exactly where I was!
I really enjoy your channel and love how it has grown. Your thoughts and suggestions are original and thoughtful. I particularly love how you mention books, podcasts, and films. Thanks for all you do. One question, would it be possible for you to list the New Jersey restaurants that you mentioned. I live in the tri state area and I’m always interested in new places to try.
Thanks so much Mimi - and oh my gosh yes the restaurants - I meant to do that: www.cuzinsclambar.com/new-brunswick - this was where I had the tuna. I need to check the names of the other two with my daughter. I'll put them all in the comments shortly!
This was fun, thank you for sharing, in the states I find that the deluxe size mascaras and full size have the same brush size. You purchased some really nice products. I can't wait to hear what you think of the WA concealer, I have it and just say, it's not a fave
Oh no, Clara, what a shame re the concealer - it's early days as I haven't had a chance to play with it since I got back, but I will be reporting back!
I really enjoyed your video. I’m a Brit who has been living in the States for 27 years, currently living in rural New Jersey, 40 mins from New Brunswick. Loved hearing about your week and looking at the States again through your fresher eyes. Personally I miss British food, otherwise agree with all your other comments ❤❤❤❤❤traveling to the UK in a couple of weeks and my suitcase will be filled with British goodies in the trip back 😉
Thank you so much! I wish I'd explored New Brunswick a little more, but I am sure I'll go back, if not directly there at least to the East coast. Have a wonderful trip back to the UK - weather isn't too bad at the mo, bit chilly but bearable 😉❤️
I bet you've heard of Menlo Park because Thomas Alva Edison was called the Wizard of Menlo Park. Old City is now an uscale neighborhood if you wallked west from Market St. It wa very rundown until one of Philly's most famous mayors, Richardson Dilworth, decided to move to the area in the late 1950's. It's loaded with upscale restaurants. You probably passed one of the most famous, called Fork if you walked all the way to the Delaware River. Hope you like the Westman Atelier concealer. On me it shows a tad of texture but it lasts forever. Can't wait to hear how you liked Nordstrom's.
Oh that must be it! I wish Google Maps had worked so I could have seen more of the city. Mind it was very cold, although sunny. I wish I'd had a pedometer as I walked for what seemed like miles1 I haven't given the concealer a run for its money yet but I will - I love the small doe foot and it feels so luxe.
Sounds like you had a fulfilling journey! I can't wait to see your upcoming videos. I have the Westman Atelier concealer in my basket, wait8ng for the Sephora sale, so I'm really interested to hear what you think about it❤
You were in my neck of the woods! Love Menlo Mall and go there often. I enjoyed hearing all about your trip! Hope you will come back soon and maybe have a meetup!
Were those beauty items cheaper in the US, or unavailable here? Sounds like a great trip. I’d love to do the same but have never flown alone and am far less confident than you.
I dont think they were necessarily cheaper, but they were mostly items I wanted to try out in store, which I can't easily do here. There are only two Sephoras in London, neither of which are easy for me to get to, and it's so much easier shopping in Sephora for beauty, I think, as it's supermarket style - otherwise you have to go to a dedicated counter. I always make a beeline for Sephoras when I'm in France, Italy or Spain. TBH flying alone is actually quite nice - you can please yourself - but then I guess I've been doing it since I was 12😉
Your trip sounds marvelous. How I wish I could have met you in Philly. Reading Terminal is incredible. You should have called me and I could have directed you to the market. I'm so glad that you got to meet Tamara & Cindy. You ladies must have had a ball. I love James Taylor and Carole King. I had such a crush on him. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Such wonderful memories that you'll have. Lots of love❣️💖🫶
Oh so do I, dearest Rene! I need to go back, and now I've crossed the pond after so long, it doesn't seem so daunting or far away. And OMG I had a huge crush on James - that voice, that hair ❤️ shame it's all gone! Much love to you and we'll manage it one day I hope ❤️🤞❤️
My youngest daughter has been to London after she graduated college. Her father's graduation gift. She went there, Paris, and Amsterdam, but London was her favorite! I've never been. Maybe one day. Yes, James Taylor was gorgeous in his younger years. Not anymore, but he still has a great voice! ❤❤@beautybydez
Omg I can’t believe what you said about travelling on your own. I’m 62 and visiting New York has always been top of my list. However my husband has no interest whatsoever. So in my head I’ve been planning a trip on my own in March. I just haven’t had the courage to go ahead and book it. Any advice about where to stay? X
Honestly, it's so much easier in a way, as you don't have to ask anyone's opinion, you can just do you! I would stay in either Soho or the East or West Village. Soho Grand is v expensive but we stayed there 10 years ago and it was, well, grand! And friends who visit regularly say it's still great. Also the Dominick is meant to be great. But my hotel, The Evelyn, was really nice, the only prob is it didn't have a coffee machine 😱
What a great holiday Dez.... and yes, I think you got the absolute gist of the twin towers memorial....a horror happened to innocent people from Evil people, but out of that, people helped each other, people rebuilt the area so it could bring sunshine on the faces again, happiness to the heart again, and a positive hope and courage for the future to the brain/mind again...❤😊🙏 God rest the souls taken in anger and cruelty.

You were in my neck of the woods! Love Menlo Mall and go there often. I enjoyed hearing all about your trip! Hope you will come back soon and maybe have a meetup!
I may well do - my daughter goes over every few months, so you never know ❤️
Great video Des. Brave to go on the subway alone 🥹
Thanks Penny. I'm glad I took the plunge 😊❤️
I love bare minerals it great, I used to get it on the plane xx
@@reneklein6049 well, if you come, we should meet at Selfridges ❤
@@beautybydezOMG! Definitely!!❤❤
@@beautybydez Thank you so much 🙏🏽 I can’t wait.
Thanks Lynette ❤️
