Wait till he finds out that ciri is also into women... and that the books are kind of open to a lot of topics... geralt does not care about what people do, as long as they don't hurt him or others...

I think a large part of this is the level to which people think this is an issue. You yourself pointed out several things that you think are wrong with woke; the forced inclusion of minorities, race swapping, the Overwatch diversity graph... it's just that these aren't deal breakers for you. For others, especially when all the little woke moments are taken together as a whole, they do start to paint a picture. You're right in that the anti-woke are going too far though, it's an industry at this point and people are making a living from it so they're incentivized to jump on every little thing that comes along to stay relevant - even if it means throwing natural occuring diversity under the bus by calling it woke. Just finally, I platinumed Horizon Zero Dawn, loved that game - but Aloy is a Mary Sue if there ever was one.
Every protagonist to any action-adventure story is a Mary Sue if you want to be pessimistic enough about it though. That’s how that genre of story works, from Star Wars to Horizon to Gears of War. “Mary Sue” to me just seems to be applied in a way that demeans female protagonists. If Horizon wasn’t an action adventure or had a greater story to tell, it’d be a more prominent argument. But for the kind of game it is, I see no reason why she *shouldnt* be a Mary Sue or why that’s a bad thing for an Action Adventure game.

Even in The Slab, he's telling one of the other prisoners not to sacrifice himself for him... which is just baked in Gary Stuness. Which is weird, because the characters around him have more characterization and negative aspects than he does, which, as a writer, irks me to no end. Lara Croft in the 2013 Tomb Raider had some decent charactization, and plenty of flaws. She grew and changed over the series, she wasn't perfect from the start, so it's not impossible to add some depth to these characters. There's TLoU 1&2, they're both action adventure games and there's plenty of character development there with regards to Ellie and Abby. I think it's important, especially with the female characters, since so many people will be looking to bring them down. I guess Aloy just reminded me of Wolverine - they wanted to give her this tragic and hard backstory, but then only the benifits and none of the consequences of it in her present life.

But- it has nothing to do with the validity of having LGBT characters in the setting at all. I know it has always been that way BUT the exposure to specifically politically motivated ideologies are far more widespread today and easily accessable for anyone. Adapting stupid POVs by essetially strangers without second guessing has become quite common unfortunatelly. So maybe there is a point in calling out BS and give different perspective for people that are not ready yet to reflect on what they consume.
