    Compare the Jeep to the Defender not the Patrol as the Patrol can be bought for $85K d/w (even in COVID times) which is approx $40K less than the Jeep. The Defender is just as modern inside and would be a better buy than a Jeep.
    But which of these 3 is dependable and reliable - I don’t need to answer that. Also with the $40+K you save buying a Patrol you can buy a different centre stack for a couple thousand which modernises it and gets rid of the 90’s button fest.

      Wait a minute, this is the top the range Jeep GC, compare that to the top of the range Defender, price very similar, but saying that I do like the Defender as well.

    Great review. Imagine the 5 seater trailhawk off-road. 18 in wheels, front sway bar disconnects, more clearance and lighter.

    Thanks for the interior review. You drove two vehicles through some muddy puddles, skimmed over the fact that this large 4WD Cherokee can tow less then a dual cab Ute and spent most of the time bagging out the patrol interior.

  • @commonsense-grs

    Also on that going bigger tyre thing he brought up. First most people always upgrade there wheel and tyre combo. If you changed out those 21" rims for 18" and put the max tyre diameter size on, would be spot on, plenty big enough.

    Still much prefer the Patrol. Do not care much about the interior differences and always have the Jeep reliability issues in mind.

      Here we go, did this Jeep break down, no. Jeeps had some issues in 2013 to 2015 models but it really was around bad dealers and customer service, but of course they are still the same.
      I have a 2010 Jeep GC V6 diesel, and over 5 years of use, only a tail shaft bearing failure and compared to my Prado so much more reliable.

    $123000 for a Jeep? :D Right now and with the very ridiculous prices we have, that Patrol with its dated interior is the best value for money. Better than Landcruiser, Grand Cherokee, Defender, ... better than all of them!

    You guys are so soft ! You are testing 4x4s like girls. Ole mates so concerned about the inside with all its sucky city screens and things ,( did he say this stupid piece of crap has a foot massager? ) Honest to god what has happened to this world and its people? Its a four wheel drive test and the jeep cannot even accommodate off road tyres. You drive it on dirt ROADS ! You dont test 4x4 ability that costs so much more as a choice in cars nowadays on roads a corolla could conquer! And who the hell spends that amount on something so not designed for the Australian bush . I think the marketing plan and design is more about tickeling your bunions and keeping your heamoriods warm whilst emptying your bank account as much as possible. I cannot see this thing (jeep) being pointed at any serious track in the victorian high country , i see it taking spoilt rich kids to school before mum goes and gets her third massage for the week (happy ending optional). As for the Patrol at least the really slow engineers at Nissan finally (50 yrs or so ) worked out that a fourby that size must have a V8. However they lost me when they changed the front end ! I drive a gu Patrol 6.2l LS3 6spd auto ,all the strong bits as my daily driver and family 4x4 for kids, dogs ,friends ,firewood, camping gear, work and play. In talking 4x4s you really should put into a context of scale exactly what capability , durability and practicality the vehicle has ! And when using the term 4x4 you need to remember that its called a 4x4 because its meant to do a serious job!

      Who said you can't fit off tyres to the Jeep.
      of course you can, put 18" rims on it and off road tyres with the same overall diameter and will do most 4WDriving most people will ever do.
      The main complaint was the boring interior of the previous Jeep GC and now when they bring out a great interior you can it, can't please all the people all the time.
      Also this isn't really there off road version, this isn't the model people would go bush bashing in, that will be the Trailhawk or a Wrangler rubicon.

    in the U.S the patrol is sold as the armada pass every thing but a gas sta., as for Grand cherokee L needs to be 2 row solid rear axle - trail rated trial hawk could be a good off-roader /car camper overland wagon

      Give it the U.S. exclusive 5.7L V8, and you could take it anywhere. Unfortunately, we’re stuck with the Pentastar 3.6L V6.

  • @retepd1e
    @retepd1e 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Would choose the Patrol over the Jeep any day. Jeep is way more expensive and way less reliable. There is one good thing about it though: no one wants to buy it who has common sense 😅

  • @commonsense-grs
    @commonsense-grs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The only thing I don't understand, why in the hell didn't Jeep Australia give us the 5.7L hemi V8 option, which would've had a better tow rating, just don't understand there logic, but that's Jeep for you.. If I was in the market for a new Jeep GC, wouldn't buy one now wait for there new hurricane 3L 6 twin turbo coming out soon, will be a ripper.

    • @eddiemoore7562
      @eddiemoore7562 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Answered your own question. 3ltt will kick the 5.7. I'm looking forward to the Hybrid.

    • @commonsense-grs
      @commonsense-grs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddiemoore7562 Yeah agree with that for sure Eddie. But I still think the 5,7 hemi would have been a better fit for the Australian market than the 3.6 V6. especially at this price point. The new hurricane twin turbo 6 does look like a great engine and the hybrid a great all rounder.

    • @devon2435
      @devon2435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cause Jeep doesn't give a shi about Australia, its for the US. Jeep just cannot pull out of your shi-hole country because of some dealership issue.

    • @commonsense-grs
      @commonsense-grs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@devon2435 I think that's a little harsh. But, I do agree, they do make there cars to suit their buyer, which is fair enough. People have complained that there is no diesel, which I'm not happy about, but Jeep sold very little diesels in America and worldwide, diesels are on the way out if we like it or not.
      Dealership issues were real here but have improve a lot over the last 4 or 5 years and the Jeep product has improved big time over the same time.
      The new Jeep GC 4XE looks great for an all-round vehicle. Ok, it's not super off roader as some complain about, you go Wrangler Rubicon for that. Also, there new twin turbo inline 6 looks really good, time will tell.

    • @devon2435
      @devon2435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@commonsense-grs Diesels were never popular in the US, especially not 4wds. Some trucks offer diesels, but their petrols are just more desirable. The GC was offered with a diesel for 1 year in the US and nobody bought it, that hurricane is probably not going to make it to Australia until 2024 or 2025. We are expecting it the end of this year since the all orders for the new GC's stopped, it's most likely going to be a North American exclusive engine since Jeep doesn't sell enough rhd vehicles to justify the cost for your market. You probably won't get it until your government has some strict emissions regulations or they stop producing the Pentastar all together, until then then don't get your hopes up.
