  • In today's episode, Anthony and I reserved a Lund Renegade from Freedom Boat Club. We used the Howie in The Hills Location on Little Lake Harris. We explored the Harris Chain of Lakes while we scouted places to bass fish. To highlight the trip, we checked out the Dead River, Dora Canal, and Long Island. We covered quite a bit a ground before eating lunch at The Lake Harris Hideaway. It was decent food with a great atmosphere! Please enjoy the video! Katie and I will be back on the 24th to explore the Harris Chain of Lakes.

    I always say that I wasn't that serious when I catch none too... Just kidding. I like this one, but would probably still enjoy the pontoon better. thanks for all the fun trips

      Haha! A poontoon boat out there would use a lot of gas and take a long time to cover all the lakes.

    I guess thats why they call it fishing and not catching. Katie and I are going back to the Harris Chain on the 24th. Can anyone recommend a better restaurant? The food at Hideaway was mediocre at best.

      I think there is a Freedom Boat Club dock in Tavares. Central to Mt Dora and Eustis. Definitely some great food in both towns that is within walking distance of the dock.

      @Kevin Smith Kalua Beach Bar and Puddle Jumpers in Tavares are good too right off the water. That little walk up the hill in Mt Dora makes the food taste better. 😂

    Interesting....so Freedom Boat Club DOES have bass boats??? I do a lot of fishing on the Harris Chain, and Toho area. I love the concept of FBC, but I seem to see an absence of bass boats. I don't like fishing (bass fishing) from center consoles. This looked promising though. I may within the year sell my bass boat, and go this route, to give us more options. P.S. Eaten many-a-meals at that restaurant. Used to ride our motorcycle to that place, as well. Just a great area.

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a ton of bass boats at multiple locations. Harris chain, winter haven chain and homosassa just to name a couple.

      @@OverlandFlorida Great to hear. I considered them 10yrs ago, and while the costs were cheaper (to the point of waiving the sign up fee), but the selection was much smaller, and location specific. This looks much more promising. Thanks for the reply!

    Nice episode! tough to zero in on the fish in the Harris chain of lakes unless you fish it a lot.. then you kind of learn where they are depending on the different factors... Keep fishing and exploring love your episodes! 👍👍👊👊🎣🎣

      @@OverlandFlorida naw you probably aren't that bad like I said it is not easy to zero in on where they are with such a large body of water and you have not fished it all that often.. Keep rolling man! Be safe

  • @bertkelly7650
    @bertkelly7650 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That boat was only 10 mph faster than yours with 65 more horse power. Don't know what you pay a month for the boat club, but probably a helluva lot cheaper than a new rigs monthly payment. : - )

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I spent just under $30 in gas on this bass boat that day. I can't complain. The club minthy payment is cheaper that a boat payment, insurance and maintenance if I had an equally as nice boat.

    I have a friend coming down from Georgia who wants to see manatees and do some boondocking. Does anyone know of any places to go. I see manatees in the summer here in St Petersburg but I have no clue where to go in the winter where we can camp or camp close by. Thanks in advance for any help I can get. Thanks again for another great video. That canal is beautiful.

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to go to Crystal River if you want to see manatees. There's usually 70+ in the springs there.
