I have the complete series DVD set of “Highway to Heaven” and have for a few years now, but I’ve been on a binge watch over the last 2-3 weeks of all five seasons and I have to say, it is a very uplifting show and it truly does inspire and make you feel good. Jonathan Smith and Mark Gordon, two great characters that became best friends over the course of the show. In the pilot episode, Jonathan Smith is offered a ride to a town for a new assignment. The driver asks for ten dollars. Jonathan declines the ride after the driver tells him that nothing is free. Jonathan then tells him that kindness is free. I wish there was more kindness and empathy in this world especially nowadays. I think Michael Landon had a great positive attitude towards life. Thanks, Dave. I have such a fond memory of Mike. Nearly 50 years ago, in Reno, I had the privilege (as a young kid) of having Mike visit me in our hotel room for about an hour. I knew him from Bonanza, and recognized him instantly, but it took me several years to fully appreciate the depth of kindness and consideration he shared with me during our short visit. I felt like the most important kid in the world. Obviously, it's something I'll remember for the rest of my days. RIP Mike.
Always great, Dave. Little House and Highway to Heaven were a great shows. Sure, they could each get a bit sappy, but warmth and life lessons of the stories, and the chemistry of Landon and French was always fun to watch. Two terrific stars from the past that don't get discussed enough.
My husband just bought me the entire seasons of Little house . I got rid of satellite. Got rid of the negative in our home. We watch the DVDs. So much more peace. Plus more time to read the Bible. It’s comforting to watch the shows o loved as a child.
Same here, the only TV I watch are the reruns of Little House and also Highway to Heaven. My parents are in their late 70's and they also watch the reruns of Little House everyday, they watch both on Cozi TV as well as another channel (forgot which) and when I visit them we talk about the show and their favorite episodes that were shown during the week but my mom said it best, she says you can watch each episode a million times and never get sick of them. The mark of a good show is when the show makes you feel as if you personally know each character and Little House did just that. It made you feel like you were part of Walnut Grove and everyone there was your neighbor, its a shame that times goes by as fast as it does because it feels like yesterday those shows were on tv.
@@joiconnell7077 - Agnosticism isn't a middle ground between the two sides. It's an answer to a different question. Gnostic translates to knowing or knowledge. So gnostic people claim to KNOW for sure that a god exists. Agnostics don't claim to KNOW for sure that a god exists. Belief is a different thing even though it's a subset of knowledge. Believers don't have to know that a god exists and non believers don't have to know that a god doesn't exist. "I don't know" is a perfectly good answer when you aren't sure. But hey, we are just here for the good stuff. No need to go down the rabbit hole in search of atheism or a god because it leads to know good.
I remember Victor French in the late 70s sitcom "Carter Country". He was very funny as Sheriff Roy Moby. I wish someone would put that out on DVD/BluRay...!
Victor French reminds me so much of another one of my favorite character actors, Jack Elam. They both started out playing thugs and outlaws in westerns. Then later became heart of gold sidekicks. Jack to James Garner in Support your local Sheriff/Gunfighter, and Victor to Michael Landon. They were BOTH favorites of mine.
Best TV duo of all time!!! I’m in my 20s and my favorite shows of all time include Landon and French. I feel lucky that i’m able to admire the lifelong work of 2 legends in HD whenever I want. One of the only things I’m thankful technology gave us. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for sharing and posting this. I knew and I don’t know why, that Victor and Michael had this close friendship. I started to probe further into finding out where it all started. It was an episode in Bonanza and through the LHOP. What a beautiful bond of friendship.
Highway to Heaven was the only show I watched about angels and their adventures on earth. There isn't one episode that doesn't make me cry. Thank you for showing how two men could show love for each other in the days when men couldn't show much emotion.

Great video. Two very talented men. Who would have thought that when making that show they really were on the highway to heaven. Crazy both died at same age both from cancer and both only after a three month battle. I think US would be another ratings winner
Michael Landon and Victor French worked brilliant together and Highway to Heaven brings back great memories of a simpler and better time especially in todays climate. It's very sad both men died young, only 54 years of age... weird coincidence. They were both heavy smokers and sadly and this is what killed them. You will never see the likes of a duo on TV again like Michael and Victor. I was told that Victor French was in Ireland at the time he got sick, he was planning to do a movie there, correct me here if I'm wrong on this one? Great channel Dave.
It is so great to know that the friendship so believably portrayed by Victor French and Michael Landon in their various collaborations was not just a case of great acting but was as genuine as it appeared. That they did so much TV together attests to that! I believe Michael Landon holds some sort of record for being continuously on Television from the late 50's ('Bonanza')thru to the late 80's ('Highway to Heaven')- and French was in a big portion of that remarkable record! Thank you Dave for a wonderful piece on two great actors and as it turns out, greater friends.👍
I have become addicted to Highway to Heaven and have been watching the full episodes on TH-cam for almost a year now. The writing and acting was top notch! And Jonathan and Mark are definitely in my top 5 greatest tv best friends list! This is a show we need the likes of desperately today, but of course today television looks down on morals and values so fat chance that'll happen.
I'm currently working through the series as well. While my wife will occasionally groan about the corny dialogue, I love the earnestness of the program.

Half-pint may have thought of Landon as angelic, even before “Highway to Heaven”, but the first “actual” angel she encountered was Ernest Borgnine in the two-part episode where she runs away
I remember after I moved out of my childhood home in the 80's, when I would come back, my dad was totally addicted to Little House on the Prairie. He called it Lhop and watched every rerun he could find. It made me a viewer as well.
I remember Carter Country!! I used to watch it as a "tween"! Wow! I haven't seen, nor thought of it in years, and I never realized that the sherrif was played by Victor French!!
Landon and French have been blessed with wisdom, desiring good values and righteous conduct of living....this they both shared it with milliones of people through their talent in their work performance. So sad, the good die young. One must have a loving heart in order to successfully produce such overwhelming stories. Thank you so much for the time I have enjoyed watching. Regards from Rome, Italy.

Ah,.. a series which might of been described as " modern- day parable"? Thank you Dave, for not only instilling a sense of wonder, but also reminding folks of the " priceless" message in so many shows.Highway to Heaven demonstrated the humble, yet powerful, life changing storylines. Not to mention, these two actors ..showed us the often-lost virtue of loyalty 😌🙏

I was too young to watch Little House, but I watch Highway To Heaven and I loved that growing up. I was thinking about how the show was cancelled just before Victor French died, could Highway To Heaven have continued without Victor French? I don't think it could have.
Victor French was an outstanding "bad guy" on Westerns...enjoyed seeing him on Gunsmoke and Bonanza and many other shows. Glad he was a great friend of Michael Landon.
Do as I say. Not as I do. Neither of these men led perfect lives yet they made huge efforts to make sure families could watch something wholesome and inspiring and life changing. I appreciate that.
Thank you so much for making this video! In these tumultuous times I've found myself using Micheal Landon and his work as a touchstone of peace and love💙. RIP love both of them!!🇺🇸
“Can’t stand for no peeking” lol and Ol’ Dan Tucker 😁 I loved Victor French ♥️
They say everybody's here for a reason . I believe God sent both of them because in Little House in the prairie and highway to heaven is Sharon God's word . These movies touch people and guide them to the Lord. They are a blessing and will never be forgotten.
RIP Mike.
Wow! Thanks for sharing your memories, Mike!
@@jdsundstrom Thanks for the opportunity to share, Dave!
I watch both tv series everyday
Same here, what a joy!
Victor French is one of my favorite actors little house Bonanza gunsmoke alot of the older western of the 60s70s80s he worth watching .....
Always great, Dave. Little House and Highway to Heaven were a great shows. Sure, they could each get a bit sappy, but warmth and life lessons of the stories, and the chemistry of Landon and French was always fun to watch. Two terrific stars from the past that don't get discussed enough.
Well said! Hey...we've got to make that interview happen. I'll be reaching out to you soon. :)
@@jdsundstrom absolutely!
My husband just bought me the entire seasons of Little house . I got rid of satellite. Got rid of the negative in our home. We watch the DVDs. So much more peace. Plus more time to read the Bible. It’s comforting to watch the shows o loved as a child.
deerslayer9point I own the entire series, too, and I watch it every day. I don’t watch anything on television anymore.
I'm an atheist, but I can't help loving Highway To Heaven to this day!
GOD bless you. 😉
Bait as a atheist you believe in a higher power I am agnostic and still find it cute but unbelievable
@@joiconnell7077 atheists don't believe in a higher power... if they did, they wouldn't be atheists. FYI, I'm an atheist.
@@eerievibes6854 I know, thanks.
Absolutely great shows with great people
I remember Victor French in the late 70s sitcom "Carter Country". He was very funny as Sheriff Roy Moby. I wish someone would put that out on DVD/BluRay...!
It's sad to not see heart lifting series like these anymore
They're still out there. You just have to look a little harder.
Loved Jack Elam!
Best TV duo of all time!!! I’m in my 20s and my favorite shows of all time include Landon and French. I feel lucky that i’m able to admire the lifelong work of 2 legends in HD whenever I want. One of the only things I’m thankful technology gave us. Thank you for this video!
Thanks for the comment...and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
What about “Touched by an Angel”?
@@nortondumont9711 tbh, I hated that show.
You sure have sparkling blue eyes.
@Emily Miller
I never really watched any “TbaA” episodes myself, was just suggesting it as another in the genre you mentioned.
@@nortondumont9711 I can see where you're coming from. I realize now I left out a couple words in my comment. Sorry if I came off sounding rude or abrupt. 💜
I watched every show up Little House on the Prairie. I also watched every show of Highway to Heaven.
I think they were the sweetest kindest people on the tv screen ever. See every episode of the last two shows they worked together on.
Beautiful, I'm 62 and grew up watching all his stuff, he was gorgeous, talented, and the perrrrrrrrrrfect Angel!! they both had a great chemistry and love for each other, Michael was a champion, both my parents died of Pancreatic cancer, and it's bloody brutal, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I also have just finished watching highway to Heaven again, I suggest everyone buy the full seasons of all his stuff, because cancel culture is coming after them, it's sad but true, life is no longer the same. Thanks for sharing. Blessings
I was searching in regards to the chemistry I noticed between them and the 1st choice that came up was this segment...An awesome segment that wonderfully answered my question...I am a semi-younkin...old enough that I grew up with watching little house on the prairie and highway to heaven...Thanks to COZI tv where I am looking at the reruns and matured in living...I clearly noticed a chemistry between Landon and French for quite awhile...So happy have the resources to lookup easily...Thank you for the segment well worth the time...and Good timing a lot of information within time frame given
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Aretha!
Great video. Two very talented men. Who would have thought that when making that show they really were on the highway to heaven. Crazy both died at same age both from cancer and both only after a three month battle. I think US would be another ratings winner
Great comments!
Loved them both❤ brings back the innocence when i was a child, those days are sadly gone😞 RIP always❤❤
Great comments, John!
Two wonderful friends
It is so great to know that the friendship so believably portrayed by Victor French and Michael Landon in their various collaborations was not just a case of great acting but was as genuine as it appeared. That they did so much TV together attests to that! I believe Michael Landon holds some sort of record for being continuously on Television from the late 50's ('Bonanza')thru to the late 80's ('Highway to Heaven')- and French was in a big portion of that remarkable record! Thank you Dave for a wonderful piece on two great actors and as it turns out, greater friends.👍
You are most welcome, good Owner!
Two of the greatest this world will ever see. So sincerely missed.
Well said, ResslerFarms!
Fantastic memories thanks and RIP to both of these great actors
Hi Dave! These two gentlemen were and will always be my favorites! Thanks!
Mine too!
@@jdsundstrom :)
I want them to come back☺️
I have become addicted to Highway to Heaven and have been watching the full episodes on TH-cam for almost a year now.
@@jdsundstrom it's certainly addictive!
Thank you for great coverage Dave.
Very welcome, Keith! This one was fun because I had a chance to visit with Victor's daughter, Tracy.
@@jdsundstrom that is really kool. Good job brother
I loved everything Michael Landon was apart of Dave loved bonanza little house on the prairie highway to heaven such great shows yes Michael Landon and Victor French were great together such great and close friends the two together were great loved I was a teenage werewolf great horror film Victor French was great I remember him in a John Wayne movie him and Michael Landon such both great actors and very good friends Dave another great video man👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm glad that Michael and victor friendship continued after little house they definitely were a great team
Half-pint may have thought of Landon as angelic, even before “Highway to Heaven”, but the first “actual” angel she encountered was Ernest Borgnine in the two-part episode where she runs away
And an interesting fact... that angel's name was Jonathan. Just like Michael Landon's angel in Highway to Heaven.
Thanks, I had forgotten that and am now wondering if that is why Landon’s character was named Jonathan.
My favorite episode of LHOTP
I remember after I moved out of my childhood home in the 80's, when I would come back, my dad was totally addicted to Little House on the Prairie. He called it Lhop and watched every rerun he could find. It made me a viewer as well.
LHOP! Love it!
I remember Carter Country!! I used to watch it as a "tween"! Wow! I haven't seen, nor thought of it in years, and I never realized that the sherrif was played by Victor French!!
I always loved highway to heaven micheal Landon was a gifted actor along with victor french
I watch Highway to Heaven daily because its so moving and the two main characters really seemed to have come from the BOSS. R.I.P. to both of these great actors. You'll never be forgotton.
Thank you for doing this episode. Thinking back on the amazing show Highway to Heaven I started to tear up some. It was a wonderful show with an amazing message, and outstanding people playing the roles. You have a great narrator voice Dave. Be blessed my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it
To think micheal landon and Mark Gordon both got cancer diagnosed in the same month and both passed away in three months. Very uncanny. When you watch highway you think there still about today
I always loved them both, ever since Little House. Seeing them together in "Highway" was great and they were lots of fun together. I was sad when they both died. It was a huge loss. Love watching those videos of House right here . They are the ultimate "feel good" stories .
Vic and Mike, RIP. They died a few bits apart.
They'll be on a highway somewhere 🙏🦋🦋
Great show with fantastic actors. Wish we had more tv with God in it. We would have a better world if we did. I’m not an atheist ... that’s for sure.
You are so right.
Agreed more God in TV n more lovable characters too !! Real n orderly is a winner!💥🤛💣💥💥😇😇😇😇😇😭🍁
And do you know that Michael Landon was actually Jewish.
Ah,.. a series which might of been described as " modern- day parable"?
Thank you Dave, for not only instilling a sense of wonder, but also reminding folks of the " priceless" message in so many shows.Highway to Heaven demonstrated the humble, yet powerful, life changing storylines. Not to mention, these two actors ..showed us the often-lost virtue of loyalty 😌🙏
This was great. It’s always sad with these two. Sorry about your sister. My condolences. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks Steve!
I really loved both Michael and Victor in both Little House on The Prairie and in Highway to Heaven! What really makes me laugh at myself are what my 2 favorite shows were at the time: Yes, Little House on The Prairie and, hold onto your hats, Star Trek: The Next Generation!
Both of those shows are great, Michael!
Little House was one of my favorite books as a child, so when the T.V. show started I loved it. I still do. I have the DVDs for the whole series.
I absolutely loved both series with these two men!!
"Cute Jonathan. Very Cute."
Highway to Heaven 🙏.
Do as I say. Not as I do. Neither of these men led perfect lives yet they made huge efforts to make sure families could watch something wholesome and inspiring and life changing. I appreciate that.
I appreciate that as well, Melissa!
I couldn’t imagine Little House or Highway without either one of these wonderful, talented human beings.
You really do learn something new everyday I never knew Victor French directed some episodes of Gunsmoke kind of cool
Victor french also directed some episodes of little house on the prairie.
These two guys were one of a kind
Thank you so much for making this video! In these tumultuous times I've found myself using Micheal Landon and his work as a touchstone of peace and love💙. I have rewatched every Little House episode, and I've already seen them all at least twice, as a child then as a mom I had my kids watch it. Just discovered Highway to Heaven! I thank you Micheal Landon, and Victor French, from the bottom of my heart, for making the choice to use television to promote messages of love and kindness. I love you guys🦋
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Both great actors
I really enjoy watching these two men so much that we bought the whole series of both series ❣️
I LOVED Highway to Heaven & still watch the reruns everyday! Though I do know Karen Grassle who played his wife on Little House & the little girl that played the Brat didn't have some good words about him!
Michael had his flaws, for sure. That didn't stop him from being a good friend to many of those that he worked with.
My favorite episode of Highway to Heaven so far is with Lorne Greene in The Smile in the Third Row.
Just finish watching that one so sad to think there both gone but I bet their still hanging out together.
Did you see the episode with Bob Hope as a guest star? SO funny with the three little cherubs...
I loved the duo on both Little House and Highway to heaven. In the summer of my oldest middle school year she binge watched Highway to heaven reruns. I would tune in with her and talk about my memories of the show.
Thanks so much for sharing your memories.
Miss Michael so much..and it seems that ML's friendship with Victor French reminds me a lot of the late Dan Blocker and ML's on Bonanza. To hear about Victor's passing was shocking, but Michael...that still makes me sad. Thanks for this story!
Great comparison between Victor and Dan Blocker. I feel bad for Dan, as all of the Bonanza cast went on to become stars of other shows.
Couldn't agree more
Love highway to heaven. If u need to cry this would be the show to watch.😢♥️😊👍👍
I love little house and highway to heaven. I am watching with my kids now. Great show with values, truth and love.
