Well considering iron biby etc are capable of like 230KG, it is considerably lighter. A prime Eddie hall would lift this for reps with his insane overhead and shoulder strength
You get good at what you practice. These guys haven't been training log lifting for most of their career up until around this point. The strongmen nowadays are more event specific
Guys today are specifically training for strongman events. They didn't used to do this. That is why some numbers like log or atlas stone went up considerably
I was at this competition. It was insane - close to 7000 all cheering for Hugo the whole competition. Me and the guys I went with knew Hugo and he later threw one of his tshirts from the competition to me in the audience. We talked to him later during the comp and he was pumped up how the day had gone. Incredible competitors there- Mariuz, Savickas, Svend, Magnus S etc...
This is where you have to wonder what Kaz's max would have been if he trained for the log lift like they do today. 1981 he made 165kg log like an absolute toy and it was a hand hewed, unbalanced, massive diameter log. ...well before his pec tear and shoulder injuries destroyed his pressing power.
Its insane to see Z fail 170 back then and for him now to have the world record almost 60kg more. I think that there might have made him want to make that event his best event
I love imagining these guys living hundred or thousands of years ago and being terrifying beast warriors. Using a war hammer or giant mace and absolutely obliterating people behind shields and crushing their armor.
Nous somme un peuple relativement peu nombreux mais notre place à l'échelle mondiale dans les sports de force est indéniable! Girard, Boudreault, Caron, et même Louis Cyr si l'on veut remonter plus loin!
Crazy to see z struggle with 170
It's sacrilege lol
I've heard he's cleaned 270 in training 😁
@@r2dadizubz that doesnt even sound right
@@deino1121 it's Z.
TBF his world record clean looks nowhere near his max.
@@r2dadizubz i believe Z but holy shit
It's crazy to see how mankind improves over time, a 186KG loglift is arguably a warm up for many modern strongman athletes
It is still very heavy and not a warm up.
Definitely not a warm up for anybody

Damn I Wish I Was With You Guys But Back Then I Was Only 2 Years old

He did 170kg log in 1988. A real wooden log also this occasion
@@patrikboij7560 Yep but that one was pretty balanced. The one from 81 looked like they dragged it out of the woods.

Big z struggled just to get it up he cleaned it and pressed it like nothing

Imagine si on était 1,4 milliards de Québécois, comme les Chinois, on gagnerait toute les compétitions!!
Hugo Girard is The Beast from The North.
The progression is unreal.
Unreal to see Big Z look so small
Awesome!
not only very strong and big, also rather handsome: i wonder whether no one from the movie-industry asked him to act in films !
Nostalgia
And now Mateusz can viper press that for 3 easy reps. Insane how far the sport has come.
This is crazy

Corrrre he's strong eh
Hi
Looks like a great channel you have there!
Thank you really strongmen 😎
Praise Jesus Christ! He Is Coming! 😁❤️
It's crazy when you realize that the likes of Rob Kearney can rep that weight now.
