You understand that the shorter you are, the less range of motion, right? Eddie has the advantage of a shorter range of motion (the weight travels less distance) compared to Shaw or Thor.
Every time I watch the footage of this lift it brings tears to my eyes. It wasn’t only history that was made that day. It was also the moment one man pushed humanity forward. All hail the Beast!
Eddie it’s not only a legend for breaking all human expectations, but also because he is very charismatic, respects the game and all the players, loves the fans, truly represents the sport and time after time showed that human limits are only in the mind.
It doesn't matter who pulls more, this was the first time someone did it. Eddie STARTED the half-a-ton-club and since no-one ever thought he could do it, it just makes this lift an extraordinary moment in the sports history. There was always something magical/mythical about 500kg. If Thor lifts it too and joins the club that will be fantastic and he will have his own moment, in history but that doesn't take anything away from what Eddie did and what he risked to do it. I wonder how many men will join the half-a-ton-club over the next 10 years? I'm going to enjoy finding out :)

He lifted 500kg quite comfortably but his body had to suffer more pain due to Eddie holding up the bar 4-5 secs after he was given the down signal. Definitely had more in the tank. When he said he could of have probably gone up to 520kg I think that’s a dramatic due to the fact the strain of pulling 500kg put on him. Eddie, I'm a heavy truck mechanic, have been for the last 20 years. I had a co-worker that was fresh out of high school, that got me into powerlifting. I swear to you, every single lift that I make, may not be the strongest, but, I think about how much effort you put into the sport every single time you have lifted. And that makes me want to continue every single lift that I do, for the rest of my life.
Eddie won't see your comment. Guaranteed 😆 🤣

Eddie also has a MUCH smaller frame than Hafthor. Hafthor is just HUGE.
By your logic, the first human to ever deadlift is the greatest deadlifter of all time.

he doesn’t need to he already did it lol
He lifted 500kg quite comfortably but his body had to suffer more pain due to Eddie holding up the bar 4-5 secs after he was given the down signal. Definitely had more in the tank. When he said he could of have probably gone up to 520kg I think that’s a dramatic due to the fact the strain of pulling 500kg put on him. I think his max could of have about 510kg or at most about roughly 512kg.
I know Thor will eventually break the record. But no one went on the journey and defied the impossible like Eddie. From his “called shot”, to his prep, to the toll it took on him, to the massive jump in the initial record itself. Thor will break a record, but Eddie made a myth reality.
