- I played Rogue, a rogue-lite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Mod built entirely into the map file by steam user Orel. This impressive mod was released unfinished... because it never will be finished. Counter Strike 2 is around the corner, and every Mod ever made will soon disappear.

Orel revolutionised Counter-Strike level creation. He's the one who created the procedurally generated map Inferno. He really is a talented guy. Hope to see more from him in CS2.
Genuinely the author needs to get hired for operation development because this is absolutely insane
Hopefully the guy can salvage this and port it to CS2 cuz it looks damn fantastic,i used to think the big operation map missions aswel as the nice map with multiple spawn points were nice ideas but holy hell this looks awsome.
I have a feeling it'd be relatively easy to remake it in the new engine. idk what kind of script language the editor uses, but it would make sense to have the same if not at least a very similar script language in the new one. 80% of development is often just figuring out how to do certain things within the confines of the language your using, this map can act as a prototype that will increase the development time by a lot!
@@druncle1977 yeah same,it will probably be mostly portable from CSGO to CS2, but for now we have to assume it will be completely broken tho,as far as we know Source 2 for CS can be just Source from CSGO but slightly improved here and there OR it could be a complete remake from the ground up. All in all tho i do hope it will be easy to just port the thing to CS2 then continue with the project,the guy/s who made this definitley put alot of effort and passion in it and it's a shame to see this just be canceled.
CS2 is coded in lua, while CS:GO is coded in squirrel, it's not just a copy-paste job. That is the main reason why the creator probably won't be porting it to CS2. 3kilksphilip made a video that you can watch for more information.

It would be cool if Valve hired the creator to put it in CS2 as a permanent game mode, like Dangerzone. It's crazy fun

People _will_ do it. The scripting languages have very similar paradigms, and the APIs shouldn't change all that much. It's just that Orel didn't want to learn a new language. Fortunately, the new language would bring a big pool of coders coming from GMod.
@@mfaizsyahmi I believe one of the biggest problems with porting this to source 2 engine is that you reportedly cannot change player health higher than 100.
For example in source 1 you could use this command to give yourself 1000 health: *ent_fire !self addoutput "health 1000"* And there was counless other entity hacks you could do with ent_fire command with addoutput.

I really enjoy when the maps have mods encrypted to them. Rogue reminds me of Coop-Strike and also Danger Zone. It's literally the perfect contrast of those two but better. Major kudos to the creator.
I just wanna say, I’ve been subbed abt 8 years, and I will continue to watch you regardless what game you play. You could completely quit cs and I’d still watch you. I’d watch you doing pro minesweeper tactics. I adore your personality and presentation. Overall I just think you’re a swell dude. Keep up the good work!

I really want this to be continued. Me and my mates got to the end, and at that point we had such insane combos; i hate +200% tech with the healing class, dakdak, plus damage with snipers, guaranteed crit damage with no scopes, explosive bullets that scaled with tech and so many other synergistic combos. We were destroying everything i wish it went on to a couple harder bosses.
There are lots and lots of these sorts of maps available including some intended as multiplayer. Its so awesome to see such variation in what is essentially a competitive point and click.

I had discoverd this map creator with is randomly generated training map and when he put this out this year I was just blown away. It's good that TH-camrs put some light on it, I hope if there is enough spotlight shed on this map Valve gets interested in supporting it as an official mod for CS2.

WarOwl I sure hope you learned at some point that critical hits =/= headshots in this game mode, headshots do like 10%~ more damage instead of 4x and crits make the yellow text, they can stack together but they aren't the same mechanic. I bet you didn't even unlock the Electrician.
I learned afterwards... why in the WORLD is headshot not crit? You're making a COUNTERSTRIKE roguelite, you have to expand on what makes counter-strike counter-strike
@@TheWarOwl There is a gold card however that if ı remember right almost guarentees a crit when you get a headshot.

Knowing the CSGO mapping tools, it would probably been easier to just make a whole game than making this in cs, amazing, bravo, my respects
This map was extremely fun to play. I got a paranoid glove slap run with the nova and each shot did about 1k damage without crit, it was amazing. The individual pellets crit which is what made it hilarious.
yeah you had me hooked on the last part, pretty easy choice to make the rest of the videos like that.

I think by now I spent more hours playing this mod alone since its release than the total hours I've spent playing CS last year - which yeah, it wasn't that much. Absolutely loving it. I hope for a miracle, so this map can be finished.

was a fun map to play, took about 13 hours to 100% it sad to see it wont be finished D:
i've been grinding this map cuz it's probably the most fun i've had warming up ever so here's some tips for you gamers that want to play the map:
- i havent unlocked the farthest two characters on the right but if you're a solo (you can play this map with friends!) the "Wicked" class is by far the best from my testing
- in the trophy / exp spending room, prioritize the "money" section and then "weapons", the card upgrades are good too because you can upgrade the diskettes but honestly a lot of the cards don't really help that much except for a select few. money helps you buy a lot of diskettes in the shops which is super overpowered and the faster you unlock the best weapons like LMGs and autosnipers the easier the game will be to grind exp
- early game shotguns are OP
- make sure when given choices to min / max stats you're paying attention to your params, luck is probably the best stat in the game because it'll make the wheel of fortune a free loot machine, followed by damage/crit, then health. technology is really good for healing but the cards that utilize technology are fairly underwhelming
- if you get a really bad red card just !quit lol, wasting your 3 choices when starting a new stage on removing a card is annoying when the cash option is just so OP like i mentioned in my second bullet (unless ur deep into a run and want to tough it out to get the good exp on the last stage)
- there's a community post for the map that has all the card details which is kinda cheating but makes it way easier to make decisions when faced with the bonded options
- speaking of cheating, i reccomend using sv_cheats 1 and using a noclip bind (only when needed so you dont ruin the fun) so that way you can get unstuck/avoid glitches or travel back and forth between shops after completing stages
i haven't even watched the video yet but i love the work this creator has done, a true masterpiece
For people who want a roguelike shooter, there are plenty on steam. I had the mosf fun with Gunfire Reborn since it's also coop.

The tree fight was really epic, but be careful to not punch it with your bare hands because you will take a lot of damage, unlike in minecraft.
