This is my second pregnancy while doing Keto, and I’ve had no health problems at all with my pregnancy or my baby. Felt energized, gained 15lbs. Baby weighed 8.14. I stayed on keto while breastfeeding too and never bothered my son. Nursed him until he was 18 months old.
I’m pregnant and I’m doing keto only 50g instead of 20g. I have no problems, no issues, no nothing. Im on my 31 week and I’ve gained 10 lbs so far. Feeling energized, no swelling, no heartburn, no cramps, and not hunger.
Was advised not to do keto. Felt more sick, more tired, less energy and way more hungry. Back on keto foods and the difference is so much better. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
with my doctor, I just tell her I don't eat sugars & starches & leave it at that. I can feel her skepticism & honestly I don't care. I hardly need to see her anymore after losing 50lbs & taking myself off most of my meds.
A gal at my work got gestational diabetes last year and her OB-GYN told her to eat more than 5 carbs per meal. I was surprised, didn't think any doctors in my area supported low carb for any reason. Glad to see the thought process is shifting.
@@User-s868 coffee with heavy cream, collagen, and monk fruit in the morning, four eggs in the late morning either with cheese or avocado, snacked on meat sticks or cheese sticks, sometimes whole fat Greek yogurt sweetened with monk fruit and berries, and a meat-heavy dinner with veggies and a salad. No grains, no bread, no pasta. I felt great and I’ve kept all that weight off 11 months after her birth!
Honestly I never actually “count” carbs. I just don’t keep carby things in the house. My whole family eats keto, including my 3 boys and I’m weaning my daughter onto keto too. It’s “loose” keto around here. No counting, just eat when you’re hungry and stop when full. Occasionally I’ll make fathead dough to appease an “itch” for bread that needs scratched, lots of recipes for that online. I’ll make keto pizza, or “corn” dogs, or burger buns. Fathead dough fills you up way better than regular bread, as it’s mostly cheese and almond flour.
I was keto before this pregnancy and lost 65lbs. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and doing the "best" diet for early pregnancy.... I've gained 6lbs back already and I'm always tired. Yes it's like all I'm craving is carbs and fruit but I'm going to try a higher carb keto and see how I feel. Normally not pregnant I'd be at 20 net carbs for weight loss but I'm going to try 115 net carbs and see how I feel.. obviously I'll add or subtract depending on how I feel but ultimately I really really just want my baby to be healthy and not to be tired all of the time.
I plan on doing a modified keto. Still whole foods but add back more starchy veggies like potato & carrot, plus more fruits. So if my carbs are 20 now maybe up to around 50.
I have a history of preterm labor. I chose to do keto this pregnancy as a variant of the pregnancy Brewers diet. The Brewers diet is incredibly high in carbs. I am currently 23 weeks pregnant. I have a weight gain of 3lbs so far. (Tmi) my cervix has no signs of shortening like my past pregnancies and no dilation at this time. My blood sugars were over 200 after 3 hours of meals, now are down to 105-110 after 2 hours. I feel extremely energized. I've had no contractions. I'm very hopeful i can make it to at least early term. I love keto
@@anitaanin-boateng9600 I would certainly do it. I'm wearing my 33 weeks. My last birth was at 31 weeks. So I'm doing well. My cervix is nice and long still.
If you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes, don't most drs recommend a low carb diet? How does it not make sense to begin pregnancy low carb, & possibly prevent GB?
My last pregnancy I wasn't advised to do so. I'm now in my 4th and final pregnancy and I'm going to go Keto with 50g. I just turned 44 and need this pregnancy not to go haywire

I am pregnant with twins and have to eat 2200 calories. How the hell can I do that with only allowing 40 or 60 carbs per meal?! I am starving! I have to take anti nausea meds as it is because of lack of appetite and now I cant even at bread. What the hell!?
Also, Dr. Berry avocates for pregnant woman eating 75 grams of carbs per day with as many proteins and fats you can eat. Stop when your full to prevent gestational diabetes and cure gestational diabetes. Eating 3 meals a day and no snacks. I myself am pregnant with only one baby but I'm not hungry that often but have to make protein smoothies with Isopure unflavored protein powder, peanut butter/nut butter, frozen banana (which doesn't add many carbs since I drink half the smoothies at a time), Lakanto monk fruit sweetener, unsweetened almond milk, to get in my protein and fats. Almonds, pecans, cashews can help as well. I hope all is well and you have a healthy pregnancy. Praying your twins are born healthy and safe as well!😁
Keto isn’t zero carb, so please don’t try to preach to experienced people here without knowing your facts. I’ve “sustained” keto for the last 12 years and have had 2 healthy babies on keto and one when I was actually zero carb doing carnivore. Just because it’s not sustainable for YOU, doesn’t mean you need to fearmonger people who don’t know any better.

I would have joined a study :) my Keto pregnancy has been the best of four and the least weight gain.
Can you tell us how did you do it please? How many total / net carbs?

Do you think they need increased electrolytes if doing keto during pregnancy?
Hi Life Change Advice with Tiffany electrolytes are always important, ensure salt intake is adequate especially if you are sweating/exercising
@@AdaptYourLife Thank You Dr. Westman. Is there a preference for type of salt (pink, Redmonds, sea, iodized) to ensure proper electrolyte balance?

You need carbs in your diet, the keto diet is not sustainable. That's why I tried the Agoge diet and it worked great for me.
