How Kanye West Proved that Nothing is Black and White

    This is a concept that has fascinated me since The Life of Pablo came out in 2016 - originally titled So Help Me God (allegedly). It initially looked like Kanye's most messy, disorganized, and ill-conceived album yet. While that remains partially true, hindsight has revealed that The Life of Pablo was much more intentional and altruistic than we gave it credit for when it released. Join me as we discuss Kanye's personal journey of self discovery on this project, as he figures out who he wants to be.
    What do you think of this record? Let's talk about it in the comments!
    Thanks so much for watching. Every subscriber/viewer means a lot to me, and I appreciate every like and comment. Let me know what you think about the video or the album and I'd love to have a discussion in the comments! Music is meant to be discussed to assimilate ideas and to grow as people.

    I am a Christian and student and I made this channel when I was in high school. I started this channel because I love talking about music (specifically hip hop) and given that the genre seems to be going downhill, I want to be part of the community that preserves the expectation of great music and dissecting what makes a beautiful record. Dealing with a lack of friends to discuss these matters with, I hoped to start my own community that loves music just as I do, as well as to provide a unique perspective as a follower of Christ that also appreciates this community. I appreciate everyone who watches and I am truly happy to see anybody comment their thoughts on a project I talk about.
    Put "ULTRALIGHT BEAM" as your comment if you read the description!
    As always, thank you very much for watching and taking time out of your day to discuss music with me, God bless. Isaiah 55:8-12

    I think one of Kanye’s greatest abilities as an artist is his ability to portray different perspectives and ideas that might clash but in a way that makes everything feel cohesive. He’s the ultimate glue I feel like

    I love seeing Kanye speak. Especially in the soft spoken manner displayed here. Some of his best interview clips are during his 2013 rants, and though classic - this was great to see him simply explain his creative process for an album that influenced many artists since.

    My favorite thing about this tracklisting is the 3 track run of Freestyle 4, I Love Kanye, and Waves. Freestyle 4 is something that's industrial and experimental that not a lot of people are gonna like, so when I Love Kanye comes on he's talking about how the people who don't like Freestyle 4 sound. Then at the end of the track he laughs and Waves starts playing, arguably the best beat he's ever made. It's just funny

    • @Prodbyjah464
      @Prodbyjah464 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody is arguing that waves is Kanye’s best beat at all. I wouldn’t even consider it top 50 Kanye beat material let and it ain’t even the best of off Tlop. What are you actually on about, like you can’t seriously think the beat is that good.

    • @Griimmyyy
      @Griimmyyy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Prodbyjah464 it's easily top 5 in his discography of released material. Everything about it is beautiful and perfect. There's not a single thing wrong with it.

      @@Griimmyyy just because there’s nothing wrong with it doesn’t mean there isn’t anything particularly special about it, I can think of ten flawless Kanye beats that are all better. Devil in a new dress, power, I wonder, stronger, we major, black skinhead, blood on the leaves, paranoid, no more parties in La.

      I clearly misspoke guys. It wasn't integral to the ideas I was building on at that point in the script so I made a mistake and put Kanye instead of "a model"

  • @97JG
    @97JG ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Just look at Kanye’s “love songs” or songs where he mentions romance in a way only he can:
    Runaway - basically the whole song, the sample choice for the tone of the song, the Chris Rock outro
    Bound 2 - the entire song and video; any other artist recreates this and it’s corny
    30 hours - the concept of the song, but specifically the line “Then I make myself a smoothie. Then me and wifey make a movie”
    Hell of a life - again, the whole song “I think I just fell in love with a pornstar”
    Many examples where Kanye conveys his style of love in a way that only he can… and in the meantime creating hits with classic tag lines

    I liked how you brought up this album involving three different personas that all share the name of Pablo. If I recall correctly, an earlier track listing of TLOP had the songs split into three acts. I wonder if Kanye did that for that same reason.
