Excellent video Thanks for sharing! When I ordered the Backhoe for my JD 2038R, I bought a John Deere manual thumb from the dealer at the same time and had them put it on. After seeing your video and the quality of the EXPANDED product, I wish I had gone the same route. Oh well - If hind sight was fore sight, we'd be a damn sight better off! I also just ordered a JD trenching bucket as I was debating between theirs and the EXPANDED, and am considering the quick connect you show in your video. Thanks for sharing!

I have the John Deere mechanical thumb. I bought it along with my 1025r TLB when I bought it new. I later bought the Bxpanded quick hitch, ripper tooth and backhoe dolly. The mechanical thumb has worked great. I’ve used it for moving rocks and logs. Basically a grapple on the back. I really like using the Bxpanded ripper tooth. It makes pulling out tree roots a lot faster and not needing to move as much dirt. The Bxpanded backhoe dolly has also been great. It’s designed well enough that I don’t have to even use the outriggers when mounting or dismounting the backhoe. And now I can easily roll the backhoe around my shop.

Hay Brock. I had a real nice call from B Expanded today. I had made a comment on a site about loosing one of the small pins that hold the big pin from coming out. She offered to send me replacement pins for the one I lost. Can't ask for anything better from a company than that. Love the quick attach and the ripper and the trenching bucket. They have my two thumbs up 👍 👍!

I personally cannot attest to the other backhoe attachments but I do have the Bexpanded mechanical thumb on my John Deere 2305 and I couldn't imagine life without it. It is a great product. Well designed, well made, and it has withstood anything that I have put it through. 👍 When I'm digging a ditch or a hole even with the thumb fully retracted it will firmly hold a big rock between the bucket and thumb.

I bought their 6 inch bucket and the root ripper. I have the hydraulic thumb on my 1025R. I can split some of the smaller rounds with the thumb and the ditching bucket. I have mentioned to them to make a splitting wedge like the root ripper. I geuss they are not interested in designing it. I thought about just sharping the ripper but hate to mess it up. Thanks Brock. See you tomorrow at the Paul Bunyan show.

Hey Brock. I recently installed the BX accessories on my 260B (minus the thumb..I'm going with the J.D. version there). One thing that I would suggest is to replace the lynch pin on the quick-attach pin with a bolt and nyloc nut. That Lynch pin will be ripped out pretty quickly by catching on the ring once you start digging up stumps. "Ask me how I know" LOL.

Hey Brock I ordered the exact same set up for my tractor. Very happy with it the metal is very thick I thought it was extra heavy duty in the build. The trenching bucket or banana bucket as I call it Is very useful for digging around stump roots and just removing smaller trees and shrubs and such. Also wanted to mention that the thumb when I was removing some big sago palms, I was planning to use the thumb to pickup the plants but what I ended up doing was using the thumb to initially loosen in the plant by placing the thumb against it and pushing with the thumb. Also as I think someone mention the ripper tooth is fun to use. You can actually sit there and operate the sticks back-and-forth and saw large tree roots in half, they will look like they were cut with a chainsaw. One curiosity I have, what are the gaps on the thumb support ends where it bolts to the backhoe stick and in the middle of the thumb? Glad you got hooked up with Bxpanded. I think they make heavy duty accessories and stand behind them if you need them. Cheers

Nice setup for the backhoe. I really like that ripper, that is the style I would like to find for my mini excavator, the sawtooth setup for cutting roots. Unfortunately all the "rippers" they sell for mini ex's are the style for ripping up frozen ground or real hard pack, they have a single cutting tooth from a digging bucket and a thick plate steel "blade". May need to look at getting the BX one and adapting the "bucket ears" to work, and just throw away any warrantee😂

I've had my 1025r for about a year and a half and JUST ordered the trencher bucket and ripper with a quick attach. Planning in redoing a septic tank drain field in caliche (south TX) and am really curious to see how the ripper does in particular in soft rock. Tired of pumping the septic tank every other weekend.I was fortunate in that I worked at a local JD dealership when I bought the 1025 so was able to install the 3ed function for a grapple over my lunch breaks. Will say that the 1025 is a REAL back saver, especially with the grapple. Something heavy? Tractor will pick it up/move it.
