You forgot to tell us about the genesis logo that shines one the ground coming from the mirrors when it’s dark. Love that feature. I have a 2015 on niche wheels and that car is awesome. It’s a head turner for sure
Really impressed with these reviews. Doesn't have the production value of the stuff motortrend and such would do, but, don't really need it. Good cadence, clear, concise. Really like it man, thank you.
Only 16 mpg? Yikes, thats a little disappointing because I just signed a 2 year lease for one, a 3.8 and awd. I think it looks great with amazing value for a luxury car and hope when I get mine, it does better on fuel.
Anthony Cuda The styling should be a bit more refined in the rear and around the bottom. The adaptive headlights should have been standard in the ultimate package as well as the fog lights. Aside from this Hyundai should have went with proper LED lighting. The rear climate control is also very poorly done. The doors are floppy and lack the stability and smooth open and close of the higher pedigree models. The voice control is complete rubbish, really sucks compared to my previous Acura RL. The car doesn't remember settings heat or cold settings as well as iPod play position and will randomly switch on its own to the cd on startup. Its quite odd actually. The entertainment system is very glitchy as well. Yes my car is functioning properly according to Hyundai....
Arthur H Yeah I was going to say if you know Hyundai at all then you would know that they have NEVER been good at voice commands... I don't get how the rear climate control is "poorly done" its just a manual system. The only thing I agree with you on is the lighting. They SHOULD have kept the adaptive headlights (Turn when wheel turns) from the previous gen and also had LED drls and LED fog light at least in the ultimate package.
It really peeves me how bad the voice commands operate. Forget about it working at all if the window(s) is open or the top. Not only that but it lacks commands that in most cars with voice controls allow you to forget about the console entirely. I find myself always having to press the media button on the dash. The iPod interface is archaic. Bluetooth streaming is also unbelievably bad. As for the rear climate controls, they are very basic like something you would find on a entry level vehicle. No temperature settings, no led, no feedback at all. Just a simple run of the mill "plasticky" control. It would have been nice if they would have added cooling vents to the rear seats like the e class has. The lack of park assist also doesn't bode well in this class. I generally like the car but in my opinion it doesn't feel like a car that can compete with the German rivals as its really lacking on some basic fundamentals, things that aren't terribly expensive to have included. I would have honestly paid an extra grand for these features. I hope there will be an update that will allow the 7" display between the gauges to have more function and maybe a little bit more sprucing up. The current setup looks cheap.
I think we all love,NICE,TIGHT and a FIRM feel, lol, great looking car, great video my man.... Except less leg room in the back,it's really comparable to a LEXUS,plus it has a remote starter.
Mine has the Michelin pilot hxmx4. I can tell you from my previous experience with my Acura RL that these tires don't last long. My RL used to chew through them. But that car was very torquey. Not to mention the neverending replacement of the transmission and motor mounts.
I'm not certain since the tires are not made in Korea. But I do know that Michelin does make tires in Japan and Thailand so they could have made a deal with Michelin. But from what I have seen and heard the Hankook tires are still standard in Korea.
Aaron Starks Don't believe his MPG results!!! I have the IDENTICAL car and average about 20 in town... On strictly highway(55 MPH) it gets over 30 MPG and Interstate(65+) it gets about 25-26 MPG.
Aaron Starks It is really bad, Im stick shocked. I drive around the NYC area so there is a lot of traffic and some large hills around North, coastal NJ. Having said that I am average right around 17. But I drive in the economy mode nearly all the time.
That is shocking fuel economy, pickup trucks get better economy than that! Any money you might save buying this over a German or Japanese vehicle will be spent in fuel. It's not like it's giving you a ton of power for it either.
AirLancer The AWD versions of the German competitors get better mileage than the RWD genesis plus they are more powerful, something isn't right no matter how you cut it. 16 city 25 highway is terrible for V6 powered sedan in 2015.
Techguy172 Don't believe his MPG results!!! I have the IDENTICAL car and average about 20 in town... On strictly highway(55 MPH) it gets over 30 MPG and Interstate(65+) it gets about 25-26 MPG.
Justin Kelly I have NEVER hit 30MPG on this car while driving on the highway at ANY speed. I have maxed out at 28.9 but typically will be in the 23-25 range.
Japanese cars are superbly reliable and parts are cheap. Even for their luxury tier, the Lexus, Infiniti, Acura are all great cars. I'd rather buy a Nissan GTR than an S Line or Rs Line Audi.

+kutark Thank you!
Other than the gas mileage, which hopefully is countered by some real power & speed, this seems like the perfect traveling salesman car. Anyone?
Great review man! Loved it
if you stand near the trunk with the key fob in your pocket for 3 seconds, it will open the trunk automatically also.
Great review Dave Erickson .
I like this guys unbiased review style very nice.

But it’s a luxury car gas mileage shouldn’t really be a concern maybe you should be looking at a Camry instead sir
Hyundai has come so far in the last 5 years. The only downfall of this car is the poor fuel mileage.
Anthony Cuda Don't believe him!!

Arthur H So basically you're saying the car isn't perfect. WHOA! Nothings perfect...

Awesome videos Dave keep them coming
Does this one have gas direct injection with hydrogen injection? I thought it was a 7 cylinder?
Great reviewing style.

The tires on the Genesis really let it down not to mention they are noisy! Put Michelin Premier A/S's on it and it is 100% better!
Mine has the Michelin pilot hxmx4. I can tell you from my previous experience with my Acura RL that these tires don't last long. My RL used to chew through them. But that car was very torquey. Not to mention the neverending replacement of the transmission and motor mounts.
Arthur H So you received the letter about the tire swap and changed out the tires?
No it already had them when I got the vehicle in April.
Arthur H So from factory?
I'm not certain since the tires are not made in Korea. But I do know that Michelin does make tires in Japan and Thailand so they could have made a deal with Michelin. But from what I have seen and heard the Hankook tires are still standard in Korea.
my dream car
D'ah...why would they put the rear heated seat controls there.
Josh Smith Because they want you to spill something on them so they stop working?
0-60?
The gas mileage is a major concern...
Aaron Starks Don't believe his MPG results!!! I have the IDENTICAL car and average about 20 in town... On strictly highway(55 MPH) it gets over 30 MPG and Interstate(65+) it gets about 25-26 MPG.

Arthur H Jeeze the spell check and predictive text hacked that up....
Why 18 28 isnt bad at all. The thing has a 3 11 hp engine.i looked at other cars like the charger and it only has 1 more mpg
+Aaron Starks I agree,it is good that oil prices are down
for $52k I would get the 2015 charger SRT... because... Hemi.. Yumm
Brian Michael ew american car. Nah. You'll be drowned in car engine problems lolololologood luck mate
AntLicious I just like the charger/challenger better.
I'm old school. I'm baffled by you and others. The need of the car, to tell you, your in the flipping lane.

Well, his average driving speed was around 16 mph, so there probably wasn't much highway driving in that mix. The RWD version gets better mileage.
AirLancer The AWD versions of the German competitors get better mileage than the RWD genesis plus they are more powerful, something isn't right no matter how you cut it. 16 city 25 highway is terrible for V6 powered sedan in 2015.
Techguy172 not so. My Ford Ranger with a 3.0 gets horrible gas mileage.

16mpg is horrible but 300+ horse is nice
I can easily do 22 or 23 with my 3.8 awd
Hyundai won't get me going until they out compete the japanese and germans at the mid size saloons tier. Not impressive
Japanese cars are superbly reliable and parts are cheap. Even for their luxury tier, the Lexus, Infiniti, Acura are all great cars. I'd rather buy a Nissan GTR than an S Line or Rs Line Audi.
gas mileage is horrible.
