      +vigilante11485 I've been watching John and the gang for 30 or so years. In fact, I send money to PBS every year JUST so they will continue airing the PBS version of MotorWeek with no commercials and in Hi Def. It's my favorite show of all time! I'm happy that you like him too!

    Just bought a 2015 Genesis and I love it I traded in a 2006 Grand Prix GXP. The Genesis is so smooth and quiet and I love all the features it has.
    All around great and awesome car...the more I drive it the more I love it!

    I have a 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD and I absolutely love it. I commute about 130 miles round trip daily and I average 26-27mpg. Not too bad in my opinion. The only complaint I have is while going into curve the adaptive cruise control sometimes registers a vehicle in the right hand lane while I’m in the left hand lane and will slow the car down. My previous car was a 2011 Avalon Limited. I liked my Avalon, I love the Genesis.

    no matter what they do, there will always be people saying it looks like this and that, but the fact is, ALL mass market brands are influenced by each other...its not JUST hyundai that looks like other brands...there are PLENTY of other brands that take something our of hyundai design too

      +ChrisGotsIt Yeah, right. I don't remember them using drone video in the 90's. Motorweek is the BEST car related video magazine in the world. I've been watching them since the 80's. They use cutting edge videography techniques in their programming. Get a life and quit asking stupid questions.

    We hopped in one of these when we bought my wife's new Tucson last month. I was thinking in a few years of going to pick one of these up for my own personal family ride. Very impressive inside and soft. I could easily drive one of these and im still a young man in my early 30s!

    Agreeing with what most people are saying. It's a nice big car. A good alternative to say the 300 or if you want to cross shop fullsize FWDs (RLX, S80, etc.) But it may take a couple of more generations or even a brand break-off to be taken seriously. Even if this looks like a hodgepodge of other luxury cars, you can say that with just about all cars today with them all looking the same. It is still nicely executed design wise to look like competent car. But I like Hyundai's progress as of late and look forward to what else they have to offer.

    I think hyundai best car brand.Reason is not I'm korean.I want to say, hyundai make a car for a 40years. But It's making premium cars like BMW or mercedes benz. They made a car for more than 100 years.also hyundai sell a more than 80000000 cars more than regular brand.and the genesis2015 is the best car I think in this year for ↑reasons.

    I like it. Very competitive in every respect except.. Fuel economy which is kind of a big deal these days. Fuel economy is right up there in their lesser cars. Once they get up to speed on the genesis I'll definitely pull the trigger. Lot other manufacturers are downsizing with turbos are downsizing. Maybe a diesel option? Bmws diesels are high mpg mills the passat tdi is crazy as well. Think about it hyundai.

    I think this Genesis is a very strong offering. Looks great on the road, no doubt. The problem with Hyundai is that they do not have their own identity. Exterior styling is Audi/Nissan/Infiniti/BMW. Interior is toned-down BMW. Previous generation was an Infiniti exterior with a Mercedes S interior. Even the Genesis logo is a Bentley rip-off. And let's face it, the performance isn't segment-leading by any stretch. Again, it's a nice car and a strong offering, but their target market is really potential/existing Buick/Lincoln/Volvo buyers, possibly Cadillac and Acura. They will have marginal conquest sales from Mercedes/Audi/BMW/Lexus.

      Doesn't mean a thing, really. Maybe the key (and not-so-flattering part) here is "older guy". I know an exec easily making $500k a year as a base salary and he is satisfied driving his 1986 Honda Accord. Just saying.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      senorgato70 This guy spends 500k a year on his lunches probably (exaggeration, but he could if he wanted to). He is a "car guy", I would say. Not that old either, maybe early 70's. He really likes it, and it is a really nice car by anyone's standards. In real world, "having own identity" may mean less these days than it used to. I wouldn't really agree with that statement completely though. I think that was true ten yrs. ago, but they are beginning to do their own thing.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, doesn't mean much and, frankly, I don't care. Everyone is entitled to their choices and opinions.

      If it were me buying, you'd be right.
      But The rich people I know don't seem to care that the name "Hyundai" is on their new $75,000 luxury cruiser. (but costing 60k) Just sayin'.

    7.2 seconds to zero to 60???
    For being a $40k sport-luxury sedan with 311 hp you'd expect it to be much quicker than that. An E39 530i which only has 225 hp and is only worth $5000 nowadays gets zero to sixty in 6.7 seconds!
    Not bashing Hyundai. They make quality vehicles these days, but how in the hell is this car that slow?

    • @moejr1974
      @moejr1974 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This weighs alot more than a 5 series is why

    • @Wingingtie3
      @Wingingtie3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Genesis Sedan does not really have that much sport. It is more on the safe & luxurious side of things to tell. 311 hp is only quick depending on the car. for this car, it needs it just for how heavy the thing is and all the heavy material strapped on it. If it gets to 0-60 smoothly all while being comfortable, i think it is a win win.

    • @Thejordanenthusiast
      @Thejordanenthusiast 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own a 2018 model with the 3.8. If you put a nice exhaust system, a chip, and an intake, you’ll shave off 2-3 seconds. I’m looking to see if if any Genesis Coupe parts are interchangeable since they share the same engine.
      But honestly, this isn’t something you make a fully built race car. Minor engine mods, drop, wheels, tint, and other cosmetic mods is all it needs if you want to do more.

    @GLA45Amg716 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Idk where this car slots like its a little less than a 5 series and shit but it's not as good it's right for the price but you can get a slightly smaller better car for the same price ..

    • @kevindam7760
      @kevindam7760 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thuglifezeem716 The 2015 Genesis is actually classified as a full-size car, the same category as the 7 series, A8, and S-class cars, but just barely. It is marketed and priced against the midsize offerings. In terms of actual size, it's right in between the 5 and 7 series. For the same price of the fully loaded V8 Genesis, you can get a similarly equipped C300, which is way smaller and has a 240 hp turbo-4 instead of a 420hp V8. Are you starting to see why this car has incredible value?

    • @ahf5471
      @ahf5471 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      thuglifezeem716 No its quite big, much larger than the 5 series. I bought an AWD Ultimate version over the 535i X drive. Of course after owning the car for one month I regret it for a number of reasons: the doors are floppy and feel cheap, the matts are already damaged at 1000 miles. Aside from this the vehicle is TERRIBLE on gas even in economy mode. Any savings comes out in gas and gas guzzlers tax (which I wasn't aware of when I purchased the car but found out getting my plates). Aside from this Hyundai service is very low brow. Nothing like what I am used to.

    • @ahf5471
      @ahf5471 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Dam I disagree with your main point; I just purchased one over month ago. With taxes and gas guzzlers it comes to very close to $60,000. And there is very little discounting on the vehicle unlike I was able to get from BMW for 5 series. Having said that, there are no gas guzzlers fees to be paid for any 5 Series other than 550 and M5. The gas mileage on the BMW is MUCH better. Theres your savings. Let's not even discuss going to Hyundai service with your $57,000+ Genesis Ultimate and getting the same experience as purchasing a sub $20,000 shitcan.

    • @kevindam7760
      @kevindam7760 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Arthur H Do you live in the US? According to fueleconomy.gov, the 5.0L V8 2015 Genesis is not classified as a gas guzzler. Even with discounting, a similarly-equipped 535i would not even begin to approach making up the $20k premium you are paying for the 535i. Going off combined mpg, a price of $3/gallon and 12000 miles per year, you'd save about $500 a year on the 535i, pretty insignificant when you compare it to the $20k price difference. Oh, and let's not forget that maintaining the Genesis will be IMMENSELY cheaper than maintaining the BMW. Oh, and the Genesis has 120 more hp and is bigger.
      If "gas savings" and the "service experience" are the only things you can come up with, you put up a very poor argument.

      Fussinated How about learning before your posting that many american reviewer's have done a review of many cars that don't come to the us market -_-

    • @Fussinated
      @Fussinated 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amine Greenoi
      I don't need to learn that, because I know that already. However, it is not very common and not as many as you implied. And also it is illogical. The reviewers you mention are part of the group that admires European piece of crap cars and as irrelevant as the cars that they review.
      So, since now you now Motor Week is an American, it is time to learn to be logical about reviewing what car to American people.
      P.S. Most of the cars that are reviewed and not sold in the US market are/were usually the cars that are/were extraordinarily successful cars outside the US such as Skyline GT-R, or Alfa Romeo 4C, etc. No one tested Fiat 500 before it entered the US market for that matter. :).

      JDubbs07 Yes I agree this is slow but maybe its because they had the RWD model?

    • @JDubbs07
      @JDubbs07 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      justin kelly C&D's tester was RWD too, so who knows where Motorweek goofed up. Hyundai's HTRAC would bias the torque (up to 10-90 F-R) rearwards under hard acceleration anyway, so I don't think an AWD model would be any faster.
