Beautiful scenery, and a great sounding loco. If only American railroads could take after this, just to be able to cross terrain like that, is just incredible.
Que bueno el video. Me impacto y me gusto mucho. Algun dia me gustaria ir
,This is a great short film. I loved every minute of this clip and hats-off to the cameraman. He has done daredevil act of shooting on rooftop the train. The strech is very steep indeed. I am interested to know if this line is a broad guage line or meter gauge line. Coming from India, where we are used to very long trains of nearly 24 compartments, this train seems to be very small one. But in India also, we have many such fantastic rail lines at high altitudes like Himalayas. Great film indeed
Buen video.
Just to enjoy the nature. Some of the people with very high safety standards may find it hard to venture into such adventures, but for many others, it is not a matter of great concern. If one comes out of protected safety net, he can enjoy the life better (not all times though), with little bit of caution. Another issue with Asian and South American nations is huge population and less trains, because of which they don't mind getting on to trains in whichever possible way
No somos locos o salvajes .
Luckily for most of the people on that train they have no idea what the tracks are really like below them. I'm wondering what is even holding the tracks in gauge?
@gtasandman i think its changed now, but the whole reason people paid to do it was cause you get to ride on top. the scenery was beautiful, but the whole ride was very touristy, i am pretty sure the locals called it the 'tren de gringos'
This video apparently represents the lowest state of the railway: Intermittent tourist trains to the Devil's Nose, but not much else. Apparently the line between Guyaquil & Quito has been rehabilitated. Not so sure about the northern division between Quito and San Lorenzo.
Probably to alert people who are crossing the tracks, the petty shop owners on the lines in the city limits, cattles and herds which may be grazing near the tracks...and so on.
it was an abandoned infrastructure for nearly 40 years, now it is rehabilited you should check it really amazing, you cant climb in the roof anymore though.
Thanks Geoffmackley for uploading this incredible journey. God bless you
unbelievable .. this is the best rail journey in the world
This definitely is one of the most treacherous railroad...I really admire ppl sitting atop.
Amazing video and landscape!
What an absolutely mindblowing rail trip.Totally enthralling...Cheers,Trev.
Great video!!!! Gota ride that train!
It's not Petticoat Junction! Can't wait to ride that train.
Beautiful scenery, and a great sounding loco. If only American railroads could take after this, just to be able to cross terrain like that, is just incredible.

I love how the rail staff just fix anything: Broken points, derailments:-))
i like how the guy is stanind there still kicking the switch as the train is already backing up

Just fantastic.
Loved the switchback at 0:50, it resembles of Mount Hood Railway in USA. My congrats to video quality, it's superb!!!
I rode on the roof of this train in the year 2000. It was a wonderful and lovely experience.
I think that thing is illegal
Excelente video.......... 10/10

Breathtaking bashing....makes UK railtours seem SO tame!

Interesting to see the locomotive have a little bouncing action at 7:17 ;)
Great videography!

That is f Insane! That track is in such horrid condition! Wow talk about a freaking train ride!!!!!
Train travel brings out the best in people. Car travel... the worst!

muito bom o video sp .br
Did the rest of the line close for lack of traffic, &/or a huge backlog of repairs they could not afford?
Well done video!
Why blowing the horn so much?
Really astonishing footage! Any one knows the origin of the diesel #2404. Seems to be european. It would be fun to know more.
Probably to alert people who are crossing the tracks, the petty shop owners on the lines in the city limits, cattles and herds which may be grazing near the tracks...and so on.
Amazing trip, i hope i could to experience like that. :v
I wonder why I find these beat to hell railroads in South America charming while I find all the beat to crap stuff here in states museums annoying?
looks safe to me
Scenery is beautiful, but the condition of the track(Ballast, sleepers, switches) makes me very sceptical about it...
it was an abandoned infrastructure for nearly 40 years, now it is rehabilited you should check it really amazing, you cant climb in the roof anymore though.
the riding on the box cars i mean
Same rerailing technique as the LIRR
guess theres no laws or policing of that stuff.

Riding on the roof looks adventurous, but why not build some open carriages with seats? Just saying...
wow some railway! Doesn`t look safe! Worn track= worn brakes! Why do all those people sit on the roof and not in the carraiges!
..."bezpečnosť" nadovšetko...
put your seat belt please, you may not fall off....
