North Korean athletes under 24-hour watch at Olympics

  • While most Olympic athletes will be mingling throughout the Games, North Korean athletes will be separate, under 24-hour watch, closely monitored wherever they go. A system of watching each other, as they do back home in the North, amid inevitable fears of defections from athletes of other members of the delegation.

Silas Buss More bad would come out as a result then good. Use your brain a little. WE would be affected by it most likely causing thousands if not millions of deaths. NK would use Nukes if they had any available at the time. To free one nation would cause chaos to one or more nations. Please think before you act.

Some people just don't understand how important relations can be. If you want to take a thousand mile journey you take it by taking the first step. Having NK officials and merged Olympic team is literally a massive step. You cant just start by saying yea, now free all your people and free NK. Nuclear weapons can and will be disastrous, it so serious that it's not even appropriate to joke about wielding it. Like the USA did with Cuba, some peace is better than none. That's how we start. If you have grown up your whole life being taught propaganda, it doesn't make you evil, since you innocently believe in the Lie that's been warped around you. It's not the people's fault so stop blaming them for something they can't possibly do about.

If gunpoint is the only way to keep your citizens, maybe it’s time to look inward and ask what you’re doing wrong? Maybe, uh, do a little self-reflection? Start asking the big questions? Just a thought.
I mean, to put it into another context, if there are two parties going across the hall from one another, like in that Friends episode, and everyone’s trying to sneak out of Monica’s party to go to Joey’s, maybe it’s time for Monica to take a look inside and ask how she can throw a better party that people want to go to, not get away from.

The only reason NK came to the games is to get leverage on South Korea and try to reduce their sanctions. The South Koreans are under the assumption that NK will actually change and maybe even unite the countries. But NK is never willing give up total control over their people.

The most surreal question would probably be how a gold medalist from North Korea would perform during a victory ceremony with a mandatory interview should they win.
I would expect them being gagged by a secret service agent who "translated" how happy they are to do this for their country.

They come in the guise of being a unified team yet they stay separated. Pathetic.
They’re probably just trying to get some money and also have these few North Korean athletes fed good food and housed in more luxury than they’d ever have back in North Korea.
I hope they keep an eye out for all North Koreans at the Olympics.
