small tip if you have trouble to remember which enchantment you have used before switching a piece of armor, just look for the greyed out ones. These are the ones you have uses before switching a piece of amor.
The early game is by far the hardest part in the game, after Alfheim, the game is much easier than it was when you were in the area near your home, speaking for the stand point of someone playing on GoW mode.
If the enemy's health bar is purple it means it's at least 2 levels above you. Not an impossible fight but yeah, you're going to want to avoid getting hit.
Dreamline78 in an RPG the player should know about the difficulty of the quest *before*, not *while* doing it, especially when there's no way to back out of the quest like in GoW and the only thing you can do is to restart from checkpoint
a little overwhelming to me since Im new to this game. Ive played all the Tomb Raiders and Zero Horizon Dawn. This one is an adjustment since its just so different and not used to it
That's understandable bro..i actually got the hang of it on my first play BUT that doesn't meen I'm smarter than anyone else ..it may take some people a few times to get it..you prbly been playing other games before this one that has a way different system..keep trying you will get it..take time to read everything on screen and use youtube videos
I honestly feel like this system is easy to get a grasp of. It’s complicated, but easy to understand. Your gear can give either random buffs (like resistances or occasional abilities) or increased stats. Your stats include Strength (physical damage), Runic (magical damage), Defense (Armor), Vitality (Health), Luck (activated ability chance), and Cooldown (Main ability Cooldown). You can choose 2 abilities (a light and an heavy) and one talisman. You may earn new abilities and upgraded abilities through xp and gold
This was a great refresher for me. Started playing this during the plandemic then stopped about a quarter of the wsy through. Hadn't played it in like 2yrs. Had no idea how to play and was totally lost on the menu screen. Thanks!
At 0:17, the stats on the right side of the screen... It shows you are level one. What happens when you level up? Any bonus? And how do you level up? By increasing your stats points?
I've been busy getting my ass kicked on the "I Want God of War" difficulty. I'm moving through at a snails pace but I'm to much of an Elitist gaming snob to lower the difficulty. I don't know if I'll ever get to any of this equipment you speak of on your video.
Another thing you should know if your new to the game is that the combat camera and movement system is poorly designed be prepared for a lot of frustration.
I really like the new profession system , loved all God Of War games & how they played , this new game was new at first & weird but once you get the hang of it the game is even more enjoyable in my experience
It can be overwhelming for a typical guy that just plays a couple hours on the weekend and isn't really into video games. Cut them some slack, they're just trying to enjoy the same thing that you do
It's not that it's complex. It's just a bit unconventional on how it's set out. Your skills (Runic attacks) are in the weapon menu, but upgrades are in the skills menu. You can also have other skills (Enchantments) but those are in the armour menu.
It is spread out in multiple menus difficult to navigate and it is unclear what you can benefit. A skill tree is a skill tree. This is not a good practice.
Are there internal cool downs? I have an axe pommel that has a high chance to grant a health boost when you land an Executioners Cleaver attack (press and hold R2) and I have two enchantments that each have a high chance to grant a health boost on a successful parry, and I honestly don't see them proc when I have 3 ways to get a health boost...
It only really matters with golden armour I think. As far as I've played, there's some items you need for the golden armours that you don't seem to be able to farm. Anything more common than that though, you can get resources for from normal enemies.
Think it might depend on difficulty I played on normal and first really started upgrading after main story Got so much hacksilver I was always unsure since hacksilver u have much but the other resources are hard to collect
When your crafting/upgrading what does it mean if something says a negative number in red, does it mean if I choose that my strength will decrease by four points for example?
I wish armor was cosmetic and you could just upgrade your stats separately. Some armor is really badass but if i put it on it drops strength or something by like 10 and increases luck by 10. Like wtf? Lol why
just started playing the game, ik im late but i dont like single player games but got recommended this game....this upgrade shit makes no sense to me lol game is good so far tho, only 2hrs in...fight with the stranger was pretty sikk
So thankyou bro I played 20% game without knowing this enactments and the use of taslim also I acquired light runic attack but thought the heavy one would be unlocked as we move ahead in our journey but got it now that it was already unlocked long time back
how can I compare the stats of the armor that I am wearing with the armor that I want to buy? The sockets in the armor I am wearing change the states so every time I want to compare between my armor and the one that I want to craft or upgrade I remove the sockets and then put them back. It is really annoying, is there a way to compare the armor without the sockets so I can objectively see which one is better? As far as I understood it doesn’t matter with weapons so I guess on that part I’m good.
Can someone help me, I feel like a noob for asking BUT. I’m on NG+ and want to sell some armor for a shitload of Hacksilver. I’m on lvl 9 and when I go to sell Armor, let’s say I click on one of Broks pieces he gave me, it says my Stats will drop by up to 25 points in runic and defence, if I sell this armor will it bring my overall level down? I don’t wanna sell it if it’s just going to deplete Kratos even though I’m not wearing it and won’t wear it again. 🤔
Bourky 46 save before selling. Then if it goes wrong just reload the game before you sold the items.....I see now that this question is 4 months old....oh well, maybe you’re still stuck! Lol
Me too. I did them when the game first tells you and then I forgot.I was in hellheim when I noticed I still had all the dark elf protection ruins which means I hadn’t changed or upgraded armor in half the game. Still fun
Everyone I've talked to hates travelers but they are probably my favorite/least challenging enemy in the game. I can't remember where it was but when I fought the two at the same time, I only took damage once or twice. Guess everybody really does have their own strengths and weaknesses
I’ve just got out of the witches hut near the start of the game and don’t really have any amour except one you get from brok so will I get armour just by playing or do I have to find it in chests
I struggled to get into this on PS4 and a big part of that was just, imo, confusing interface of the menus and overly complex systems in play. I’m giving it a fresh go on pc and am gonna try to get to know everything very well and see if I feel differently about the game afterward
I felt similarly. Trying again on my ps5 and I love it. I think i was halfway through the game before bothered upgrading any armor though. I added a few items here or there, but it wasn’t until I got WELL into the story that I spent any time on it
Some attacks are white yellow and red, because im playing on the hardest difficult most of attacks are yellow or red, clearly because of the level difference of the enemies, cant i upgrade my defense to make the attacks more blockable? Or defense just affects the amount of damege i receive when taking damage?
OuttaSpace420 GamingZone at this time you cannot. There is no new game + but once you beat the story the world is entirely at your leisure to explore. Hopefully, they will make a patch for new game + playing the game from the start with all your gear and skills.
If it wasn't for TH-cam I didn't know I could buy moves even if your stats don't "Match" the requirements. So for 98% of the game I didn't have that shield unblock thing. Because my defense wasn't 250. Coulda saved myself so much time. The skills menu makes no sense. Like on mine it says shield unblock (that move that removes people's shield) need 250 defense pta but I only had 200. I didn't even attempt to buy it. Coulda saved myself so much time. With more moves
I can't decide how I feel about being able to unlock everything in abilities in one game. On one hand, it's nice to not be stressed that you won't like the style that it gives you. But I also like how games like Dark Souls challenges you to think about your character leveling. If you try to make a Jack of all trades, you can end up nerfing your character. But I guess that in games like this or HZD, it is important to make sure the player can always progress through the story. Unlike my first try at DS3, when I leveled against my starting character and hit a brick wall mid game.
jay dee no problem, I'm playing through a second time. It's funny that in the start of the game if you upgrade the green armor that you buy first. It will remain better than most of the first blue armor you unlock, good luck on your play through brother
You also must take in consideration the starting level and level cap of the armor. For instance, you may have a fully upgraded legendary armor with good sockets, but the armor caps at lvl. 6, while another legendary armor (or epic) starts at lvl. 5 and it can be upgraded to lvl. 7. This, of course, helps you level up Kratos, which is important to take on consideration.
Alex Lion have you redem the code from the paper inside the game disk? Or you have buy it from psn? Then you need to go to library to download them. I have the armor and shiel. They are ok for the begining of the game.
The deluxe edition armor? It’s called Death’s Vow. It really isn’t that great. About a few hours into the game I already found armor that was way better than it.
I like the fight at the being of the game is there any more fights or is that just it because I really enjoyed fighting that dude at the beginning of the game
The armor system in this game is too tedious. To say it's an armor set is not accurate. Horizon Zero Dawn has armor sets, as you take off an entire outfit (armor), and replace the entire outfit with a different one. In this game if you want to change armor, you have to constantly and tediously change individual PIECES of armor. There is no set. It's annoying and tedious. I'd rather have a way to make an armor that's good against fire, save it, and choose that when I need it, quickly. Same with other different attack and defense armors.
The combat mechanics are very good. But could be still improved :) i loved playing Nioh, the three different fight stances would be a blast for the next gow. And an open world like assasins creed.
it'll be on your upgrades menu where you can upgrade your axe, on that menu press right on the directional paid and you'll go to shield upgrades, press right again and it'll take you to the Spartan rage upgrades
They could've actually added something like "Costume slots" so that we can wear our favorite armor, cosmetics wise, without actually affecting our best equipment, stats wise.
I have to be honest I'm not a fan of this... the earlier games had a much more basic upgrade path, no loot or armour that covers Kratos' character design. Lest we forget as well the game shows no damage numbers or how exactly +5 damage looks in comparison to +10 damage (unless you delve into complex math and perform laborious experimentation). These RPG mechanics work in RPG games because you see the numbers (the damage you inflict/take) and generally its not tiny incremental changes but significant upgrades. These mechanics belong in classic RPGs not action/adventure games but they have been plopped into most "modern" titles with incremental (insignificant boosts) to keep the player grinding the stat hamster wheel...
Since when is 21 hours short for a story based campaign? What? I mean it's no okami or Zelda but those are borderline exploration over story. This is story over exploration, kindof needs to be confined some, but it's huge from what I've played so far.
Everyone here saying the progression system is overwhelming are seriously illiterate. GOW pretty much tells you everything you need to know. It even has descriptions for the specific attributes. You guys would have aneurism if you played any Monster Hunter game lol. Sorry this isn’t fortnight. Get better and learn how to read and pay attention to details.
Enigma MK I’m a fucking snob cuz you guys don’t want to read 😂 alright bro have fun playing fortnight and not using your brain. There is absolutely nothing wrong w this game

You also must take in consideration the starting level and level cap of the armor. For instance, you may have a fully upgraded legendary armor with good sockets, but the armor caps at lvl. 6, while another legendary armor (or epic) starts at lvl. 5 and it can be upgraded to lvl. 7. Man, I shouldn't even have bought the game.
GOW is NOT an open world and progression is mostly linear.
These mechanics belong in classic RPGs not action/adventure games but they have been plopped into most "modern" titles with incremental (insignificant boosts) to keep the player grinding the stat hamster wheel...
seriously how long to complete thia game? some says 21 and some says 35? I am confused.21 hours is so short.
It takes 25-35 hours to complete the game
wantsome7655 then don't search for it lol you can skip straight to the main story if you wish lol nothing is forced
wantsome7655 it not really....the game can be beat by 25 hour action packed without u searching for item....and 40 if u do
Since when is 21 hours short for a story based campaign? What? I mean it's no okami or Zelda but those are borderline exploration over story. This is story over exploration, kindof needs to be confined some, but it's huge from what I've played so far.
nobody survives even one bit 21 hours is so fukin long, the average single player game is like 7 to 11 hours
Love this game
So
You call this a guide?
Sony made the upgrade system way too complicated.
This is too confusing
Ummmmm that game is considered open world?
"semi-open world" as what others call it
Do a vid about the valkyries, those bosses are so hard
how i can throw the axe in horizontal way?
DarthSaga try L2 and R2
Amanwiza thanks
Ah yes so much fun. Being weaker than everyone because my loot isn't good. Despite being a god
Yes....that's called progression. It's kind of the entire point of almost every video game.
Enigma MK I have nothing to say to a “gamer” that has a problem w the depth of a video game 😂 because it requires brain power? Rather then button smashing wow
what a mess of a rpg mechanics!
