Stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze makes a deal with the Devil to save his father. Years later, the Devil returns and gives Johnny special powers so he can destroy Blackheart, the Devil's son.
I remember seeing this when I was 8 or 9 and leaving the theatre thinking that I just saw the greatest movie of all time lol.
you did
you did
Same
You absolutely did
Same here
Ghost rider is soo insanely powerful, hope marvel finally do him justice
hahahhaahahAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
HAHAS
HF
dont make me laugh they will never make him justice, if they make a ghost rider now it will be incredibly more weaker and uglier and overall bad
marvel is the entire circus because of disney.
they went woke and decided to pick bad writers while giving little time for cgi to be finished
it became a shit show now.
just watching the first iron man compared to any new movie they made shows the big difference in quality with ironman being far above the newer movies even if its that much older
im not an hater, i used to like marvel but the movies lost quality over the time and i wont say something is good just because i like the source material.
if u look at comic ghostrider he is strongest of them all
@@clover9725 Yes, they need to get their shit together before they even think of touching Ghost Rider. He is one of my fav characters, i don't wanna see him getting the Thor treatment. 🥲🥲
Maybe someday. Wouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
@@doktorcz4203 he is powerful yes, but there are more powerful heros
and way more op characters
also, this movie was the reason Cage decided never to train this hard for a role again, because everyone assumed he had 300 CGI abs after he worked his ass off
exactly.
Cage was also starving Himself massively during filming and cut down on water intake so was hangy and listless throughout. Big reason why Johnny Blaze wasn't all that likable and low energy with line delivery.
God it was worth it for those few seconds of peak Cage perfection...🥰
300 didn’t have cgi abs too😅 do watch the recent podcast of Joe rogan with Zack Snyder 😅✌🏻
Cage abs just look fake though
@@tmac731 They're tanned, shaved and oiled up.
Cage actually did work out and got shredded for this movie and he has said because no one believed it, he will never get in that good of shape again
@@sidekick4neither will your mom 😩
Two things mate, 1. He doesn’t change only at night, he changes in the presence of evil (until he learns to control it then he can change through willpower even in sunlight) and 2. His flames work in the devils of wind and water and such because ghost rider uses hellfire which is more powerful and can burn your soul, not just regular earthly fire with its normal limits
Ghost Rider is literally one of THE strongest Characters in Marvel.
Not only as a force but as a supernatural being 💥
You didn't include it in your edit, but my favorite part was always when Ghost Rider grabbed the helicopter with his chain, and then spun around a few times before flinging it away. That's when you see a TINY hint of how physically strong Ghost Rider really is
That's actually my favorite part of the film especially his little line to the helicopter pilots.
“Every break I was in the gym maybe four or five hours a day on shooting days and then all day on the weekends. The day I shot the mirror scene I'd had nothing to eat and I started to have candy corn sugar, which makes you more vascular, so I was going a little crazy.”
Well, damn.
Incase your wondering why he was screaming and groaning during his first transformation wasn't because he was crazy, or the power was too much no, he was actually feeling his skin and everything burning off.
that was really his body. he worked out religiously to play a superhero bc its been his dream as an actor to play a superhero.
The cheesiness is what I love about this film, it's predictable and the acting is fun, understand that back then CGI wasn't as amazing as it is now, and the super power fights were probably based from the comics.
The scene with two Ghost Riders was the Captain America Mjolnir worthy scene of the 2000s
No, it really wasn’t 😂
@@pauljones77 it was
Not even close 😂
@@DiegoMartinez-ou5wnit was
It never was 😂
The ghost rider monster amv was top tier. Made my childhood.
Man, I forgot about that AMV! It was peak
Ghost Rider is such an underrated character. I'd love to see him done right.
Actually, the jelly bean martini glass is something Nick Cage does in real life that he brought to the character, just because. no really, i'm serious.
Wow if I was a big time film star I would do they same thing with a pint glass and Cadbury mini chocolate eggs
The Ghost Rider is my number one favourite hero from the comics and for Nicolas Cage, my favourite actor of all time to play him makes this movie even better. Definitely check out the sequel, he’s unhinged and it’s so good.😊
I love how they did the graphics for the Penance Stare, as well as the mechanics of it. Turning someone's sins around on them and burning out their eyeballs in the process is a worse fate than death, in my mind.
Ghost Rider will always be my favorite childhood anti-hero. I wish there was a crossover with Cage's Ghost and Ryan's Deadpool, they'd be a crazy fun duo to watch in a film.
Man sad on Friday, man see Sebcreen upload, man watch Sebscreen, man happy now.
Relatable 🎉
Have a good wknd, u guys! 🙃
Very true.
Man sad today, watching Sebscreen. Not helping!! 🙆♂️😭
This and Spirit of vengeance were one of the best "Off-main" anti-villain movies ever!
the Wraith?
Ghost Rider is one of the most powerful Marvel characters, but he can only really "kill" someone if they are "evil". His main "ability" is a penance stare, where it damns your soul to hell, but only if you've done bad things.
Good to know.
Ghost Rider, x-men and Tobey's Spiderman were my top favourite films back in the early 2000's.
Fun fact: While Carter Slade does go by the name "Ghost Rider" in the comics, he's not connected to the Devil's riders. Nowadays they call him Phantom Rider, to not confuse them
My husband did the first crash ( by johnny ) on his bike when he was 17. His head hit a rock while driving dirt path in the forest, and the impact compressed his spine. He was paralyzed (because of the swelling on his spine and nerves ) for a year. He also had to have spinal surgery and get 3 disks taken out (because they were shattered and replaced). When he woke up a week after the accident the doctor told him he would probably never feel anything from the waste down. Thank God he recovered.
Waist*
@@scythefanatic thank you for reading my post about something that is actually traumatic and correcting my spelling . You did a great service today.
waist*
@NewsofPE thank God for you, Captain Grammar. The world can rest easy now.
@@kirsten9277 I understand it's traumatic, but maybe spell things correctly if it's so important.
So people aren't thinking of his BODILY WASTE instead of waist.
10:50 Death is a female. Thanos is in love with her but she loves Deadpool 😅
The Devil or Mephisto (Aong with the other Hell lords) are traditionally men. Mephisto is the fears of humanity embodied into one man
God I love the horror side of Marvel
I remember when I was a kid and this movie came on but ghost rider was played by a black actor, my parents were extremely racist though and switched the channel to show the version of the movie played by a white man. I wish I could find that original version again :/
Even tho it's a lot more corny and cheesy, I recommend watching the sequel! It gives A LOT more context on how the rider came to be and how his powers work, plus the effects got a lot better lol
They're DEFINITELY getting ready to reboot Ghost Rider. They've spent all of Phase 4 and 5 introducing/featuring members of 3 teams: The West Coast Avengers, The Young Avengers, and the Midnight Sons.
The Midnight Sons are Marvel's team of horror heroes:
- Doctor Strange (No Way Home, Multiverse Of Madness)
- Wong (Multiverse Of Madness)
- Clea (Multiverse Of Madness)
- Moon Knight (Moon Knight)
- Morbius (I mean......I don't THINK the Sony movie counts.....but...... 🤷♂)
- Man-Thing (Werewolf By Night)
- Elsa Bloodstone (Werewolf By Night)
- Werewolf By Night (Werewolf By Night)
- Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider
- Danny Ketch Ghost Rider
- Blade (Inhumans)
- Black Knight (Inhumans)
- Brother Voodoo (Jericho Drumm. His twin brother, Daniel Drumm (the original Brother Voodoo), whose soul possesses Jericho's body after he's killed, was featured in the first Doctor Strange movie. So technically they've already cast Brother Voodoo too, since they're twins....🤷♂)
I wouldn't be shocked if Agatha Harkness ends up on the Midnight Sons too.
But yea, the Ghost Riders are MAJOR members of the Midnight Sons team.
There's 0% chance that they introduce effectively the entire main Midnight Sons team and then DON'T introduce Johnny Blaze into the MCU.
Those were his real abs.
"They are real and that's why I will never work out that hard again because nobody wanted to believe they were real,"
-Nic Cage
5:50 "I'd love to see this film... like really serious well-made tone..."
Loved this watchalong... I really hope you watch the 2011 instalment as well.
Johnny: "You deserve a second chance. You deserve a second chance."
Me: "And that second chance is fleeting if you don't walk out that damn door right now!"
this movie actually scared me as a kid. The mf who can touch people and make them just turn dead made me TERRIFIED
When you see the CGI on his face, it's because there was a stunt driver. Face replacements were still difficult at the time this movie came out (and still difficult today), especially for a films with smaller budgets.
And yeah, Nick Cage got so jacked for this role and everyone assumed his abs were fake, so he vowed to never train that hard for a role in his career again.
Sam Elliot has such a mesmerising voice
Quite true.
This movie isnt amazing, but its a guilty pleasure.
This first movie was pretty good, the second wasnt
@@abc.animal5143 the second movie decided to change so much its almost not even related to the first movie.
0:22 I just realized that's the beautiful voice of Sam Elliott itself! I don't watch this movie very often, and I just realized he was in it!
Damn you’re late lol go watch 2003 hulk
@tmac731 I know Hulk 2003 better than this movie, to be honest.
@@transformandgobricks7820 both are some of my childhood classics and Sam Elliot is in both
7:20 Edward Cullen's dad. I can't 😂
I died laughing when he said that 😂
The entire time you talked about this and what you wanted, all I can think about is how you should be giving Hellboy from 2004 a watch. It's exactly what you'd want.
Yessss Seb if u see this please react to the first 2 Hellboy movies 🤞🏾
Nic Cage actually got that ripped and said in an interview he will never do it again because people didn't believe it was his body lol
Watching your videos is honestly like a walk down memory lane with my new favorite reaction channel!!!
Apart from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, this is my favorite pre-MCU Marvel movie. It’s so much fun. The transformation scene tho, Nic Cage’s over the top acting with that choir music 👌🏻👌🏻🔥🔥
Btw ghost rider 2 is basically all sick fight secenes so you'll enjoy that one.
if you want a much darker and serious adaptation of Ghost Rider, he eventually shows up in Agents of Shield, the marvel TV series, season 4
Love that show!
That iteration of the character was BADASS
It still pisses me off that the Ghost Rider and Helstrom series got canceled because of marvel being pussies when it comes rated R and darker movies/shows
18:37 my favourite comment of yours, Seb! "The only thing she leaves bite marks on is a slice of cake" 😂
Dude, you're laughing at all the wrong scenes. It's killing the vibe man.
FINALLY who else loved this and the sequel
Fun fact: they actually used an x-ray of Nicholas Cages head which i find pretty damn awesome
11:13 I told my nephew that’s how his Grandparents met 🤣
He’s 3 btw
Damn, still is one of the peak hollywood outputs
So much fun to watch❤
SEB! I got you as an ad on a video I was watching, nice going man! o7
19:00 best joke in the video! Lmfao! 😂😂😂
This movie is honestly one of my favorites. I love how it doesn't take itself too seriously. It feels like the Marvel version of a Hallmark movie 😂
The reason why Johnny was begging to get out of the shared cell was because there was so much evil in that one place that the Rider was basically clawing to get out. The Rider only comes out in the presence of evil, so this was literally sticking a coyote in a cage full of rats. HE'S not stuck in there with THEM. THEY'RE stuck in there with HIM.
"I don't know why the devil made him healthy just to kill him like that" - that's the whole point - you can't outsmart devil and his pact, in fact he really made him healthy, as he promised, but he never said how long the father will live after
6:46 Finally someone says something about dude in red's reaction 😂
I was obsessed with this film 😅
Literally this movie is so good my childhood movie love your content bro be watching your videos all the time
Ghost rider 2 is so much better than 1. That was 100% his body no cgi.
I seen this when it first came out, I’m 28 now and this movie still has one of the best transformations ever
My favorite movie as a kid lol
I like this movie but Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider is my favorite. Agents of Shield did a pretty good job portraying him too bad it was too short lived.
Ghost rider is mad op in the comics
27:14 he pack-a-punched that shit before it was even cool 😂
18:43 he was actually auditioning for Superman at this exact same time…. So he got absolutely ripped at the time of making this movie
6:43 This was a recreation of an actual crash that stunt cyclist Evel Kneivel did in his career. Evel Kneivel broke almost every bone in his body from that stunt.
Coolest part of the movie 25:30
Let’s ride ❤️🔥🔥
Awesome reaction of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Mine too
Finally, Seb. You're reacting to my and many other's childhood!
8:27 Now I know you're doing the unrated version. Mephisto and Black Heart have this same exact conversation, but somewhere else with those other demons
Firstly, just an FYI: The "Devil" that Johnny Blaze sells his soul to is never named in these two movies (due to legal reasons, I think). However, that devil is in-fact Mephisto (a character which Marvel fans have LONG wanted to appear in the MCU, especially because of his major interactions with Peter Parker/Spider-Man).
5:56 There have not been any more Ghost Rider movies besides these two Nicolas Cage ones, but *a* Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes, not Johnny Blaze) did appear in the MCU, in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series (though the canonicity of the pre-Disney+ MCU TV stuff is questionable). There was also a planned Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) solo TV series to be on Hulu, alongside more Jon Bernthal Punisher. But the Ghost Rider series was scrapped and Punisher's renewal cancelled. Likely had something to do with Disney's acquisition of FOX, which owned those characters. It is rumored however, that the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider (played by Nicolas Cage) will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars alongside Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
7:44 Ghost Rider is technically a cosmic-level character.
8:50 It's been almost 15 years since this movie came out and Eva Mendes STILL hasn't aged a bit.
16:20 Fucking *murdered* her.
16:55 Fact: This power (the "Penance Stare") is capable of killing extremely powerful cosmic-level characters.
18:50 It's real. But everyone thought they were CGI abs. He was so mad about the assumption that it basically made him swear off training so hard for roles anymore. The only CGI used here was to cover up a Ghost Rider tattoo that he has.
Yes, it's not that well executed but the concept is good! Imagine a Ghost Rider with todays CGI!
Ironically enough, I was just listening to the musical score for this while I was at work earlier.
Christopher Young did an amazing job with the music. He rarely ever scores superhero films though.
You hit the nail on the head, Ghostrider is the demonic spirit of justice.
Also, yeah that was his body. He is a giant comic book fan and he was supposed to be Superman (his favorite superhero) but the project got cancelled unfortunately, and he was working out for that
This movie came out on my 8th Birthday. I remember watching the trailer and I was obsessed with this character.
I had my 8th birthday at my grandpas and It was Ghost Rider themed. I got toys and the game on ps2 my cake was Ghost Rider and the cherry on top my great uncle Jimmy was taking me to see the movie that night.
The movie did scare me though so I spent half the film huddled next to him hiding my head in his coat when Blackheart would show up.😂 I loved the movie.
My uncle died in a car accident not too long after that. So when the movie came out on dvd I made myself watch it over and over until I wasn’t scared.
Ghost Rider was already one of my favorite heroes and still is, but watching this movie makes me feel close to my uncle and reminds me of him.
I had no idea this was marvel, it’s crazy to know this came out 1 year before Ironman the birth of the MCU
i don’t care what anyone says, i love this movie!!
The first time i watched i wa son school holidays with my brother and he pit it on and i changeed my life
Please do ghost rider 2! Definitely has some memorable moments!
I would say the second movie is actually pretty good tbh, hope You'll get to that one aswell
19:01 if that ain't perfect timing I don't know what is lol
The second film isn’t as good but it’s still pretty good, it explains more into the characters backstory.
Carter slade has got to be my favourite character
My aunt meet him many times in the hospital she's working & adores Nicholas, said he was a very very nice guy & fit too
Am I the only one who just adores Seb he is so handsome, funny, so sweet and caring, and just is pure entertainment ❤❤❤❤
Eyy 🔥💀The Ghost Rider💀🔥 !
That movie made my childhood🤙
You should watch the second ghost rider. It's better than the first in my opinion.
This movie holds a special place in my heart. We had the CD and I would watch it in the car while going to some place with my siblings or at home. I remember this one time my brother was copying Ghost Rider's Penance Stare with my sister and she threw up in the car 😂😂😂😂
Really happy u watched this tbh I really like this movie nd haven't seen it in forever
You should watch 'Con Air'. That's probably the buffest I've seen Cage and it's a pretty good action movie.
13:48 As a kid, I was surprised to hear Phoenix AZ in a movie for the first time 😂
origin of ghost rider power, there was angel of justice who fell in to devils trap and got corrupted and became angel of vengeance
Ghost Rider was my favorite childhood movie, i was four when the movie came out , its still my favorite movie till this day
live laugh love nicolas cage
I really enjoy Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider himself is so badass I still need to see the 2nd one Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011) but that one looks fun also and can’t wait to see Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in Avengers Secret Wars (2027)
25:48 Sam Elliott is an incredible actor and really has that cowboy from the Old Wild West vibe. From Golden Compass, Prance, to Road House the man is so good. Highly recommend checking out all three especially Road House- it has the man Mr. Patrick Swayze.
Ghost Rider is a good movie, but when you compare it to the comics, may MCU give us the comic book version as he is just so much more than this film gave us.
Ghost Rider is not just one of the strongest beings, but one of the greatest threats in the universe.
Ghost Rider is equally powerful as the Demon Lord Mephisto, you see in Marvel comics Mephisto ones battle against Galactus Devourer of Worlds and it's insane, Stars detonated, galaxies trembled and the entire universe was at risk simply as a byproduct of their battle.
On Fight Club you mentioned David Lynch, so here are a few surrealists before him...
Luis Bunuel - The Exterminating Angel - Viridiana
Ingmar Bergman - The Seventh Seal - Wild Strawberries - Hour of the Wolf
Fellini - 8 1/2 - La Dolce Vita
Alejandro Jodorowsky
*Father dies*
Seb: "these films are so funny"
Never change bro 🤣 this is why I love your videos
I saw this as a kid and I thought it was the coolest Marvel movie I've ever seen
4 hours is the earliest ive been to one of these
The Blade movies are probably the 'darkest' comic movies, they don't even really feel like MCU or anything, just normal movies.
