Counterpoint - “We want a mobile heavy artillery platform that can also produce tanks like a factory, repair aircraft and crawl underwater, and also put a shield generator and some machine guns on it” is a great representation of the UEF.
@@Grievous_Nix this. The uef represents the old ways and nothing shouts "old ways" more than the romanticism of humanity with big ass tanks full armed. Same happens with the baneblade of the 40k universe.
"Alright guys, the enemies has big experimental unit that can endanger our front lines and we have none, what should we do?" "Lets put FOUR battleship turret on giant tank, that can outproduce our enemies capabilities to create more unit, and make it amphibious, and for good measure we add tier 3 shield generator inside of it" "You goddamn genious"
One thing I've noticed so far in this video is that the UEF AI _really_ likes to Lead By Example given how it seems to be staying around the majority of its units or actually being in the open away from its units with only a little Mobile Shield to keep it company.
The UEF is better at brawling and base defence. The Cybrans are the best attackers, but worse defenders. The illuminates have better units pound for pound. In a maps where base defence can be used offensively, UEF wins. They are the only faction with heavy turrets.
Back in the day (like 2008 back in the day) I won a bunch of PvP games on Setons' Clutch as UEF by simply upgrading my commander to T3, marching him forward accompanied by enough other units and workers and then start building T3 point defense (supported by static shield generators) outside opponents' bases close to their maximum firing range and just let them do their thing. When everything in their firing range was destroyed, reclaim everything and rebuild it 250 meters closer. Rinse and repeat. These things were insane as only T3 artillery, T2(?)-3 navy, T3 air and the Fatty/ Megalith had the range/ speed and firepower to threaten them (well, and experimental artillery and mass nukes of course, but that's way later into the game than you could get a line of T3 PD gunning down your opponents' base) and their output was incredible, a line of them was an experimental unit all on it's own.
Aeon could theoretically hold up to it because of the Salvation which comes earlier than Mavor. It depletes shields on broad scale so that regular arties can hit their target. This, however, is two AIs duking it out. Aeon is ad massive disadvantage here because of the AI's inability to launch coherent attacks with entire armies. It's bad enough with ground forces and even worse with aircraft because the AI is chasing single targets as soon as it spots them and has no qualms flying over enemy AA. Air units, however, is Aeon's main advantage. Which means this game was a lost cause right from the start.
You should see how stupid the AI is on SupCom2. If you put it on an island and turn off air units, it will only build a tiny T1 base and a some t1 land units and forget naval even exist. At least last time I played it but that was many years ago.
@Zankaroo Hey played Supcom2 last month and it really seems like the ai are allergic to boats and water. Just not really the greatest but it works I guess
Honestly I love this game and how things can scale up so quickly within minutes, all it takes is for one land factory to make 12-20 engineers, and in only a minute or 2 you can have an entire base set up pumping out an endless supply of units, and in 5 or so minutes have T3 and T4 armies battling it out, other RTS games like C&C are good for 10-20 minute battles, this game can be the same, yet so much more can happen in less time, keep up the good work
@@pawelm.1583 Yeah SupCom can be really unforgiving to slow plays, I remember when I started playing on an Xbox (which became a complete slideshow if the battles were big enough) and I was too slow, even against the AI. But with practise I can now reliably build a starter base and pump out some early assault units coupled with some bombers and inties
These were cheating AIs, though! They have massive resource and building power bonuses. If you are a regular player, even if you are rushing, you need about 10 minutes to get your first T3 bomber produced and this assumes getting extra reclaim from teammates and that you provide zero cover for them in return (Seton's Clutch meta).
If I recall correctly, with this modset, the standoff meta is to spam big jacks or whatever the enhanced T2 UEF artillery is. It has a pretty silly range, and the cost/damage ratio is great. Of course, this is only good for static standoffs, and I have no clue what land units actually work well for direct action. Usually players with obscene economy leads can just throw anything forwards and win.
Nostalgic love this game, brings back memoires from the campaign i played, my fav game strat is a one fell swoop, even though i can end it by conatantly attacking i still choose to be defensive, expand my base resources and max defense, while spamming strategic bombers and experimental aircrafts, Id wait for 4 hours or more till I have a massive air fleet of bombers and launch it to rid all enemies, its especially more satisfying playing as UEF, because for me the sound and effects of gunpowder weapons is more cooler than futuristic laser beams. I love that strat especially in campaign with timers, id spectically wait till its near on ending the time till I launch all of my air fleets to the enemy, cause its more CLIMACTIC and COOL as hell, its like watching a movie where the end of the world is at stake with in the last minute.
Are these AI also inclusive to the respective mods? I remember the sorian AI mod that helped with mods including SPACE ships and so on. Yet, I rarely saw that AI or the standard AI build the experimental defensive structures for example.

Nothing like sending in dropships with fighter cover to land units for assaulting a defended point. Sadly not many games make defenses like they did in this. It always felt nice making FOBs. You wouldn't really spam defense turrets cause they wouldn't be able to cover everything plus if you made the line too thick you could have multiple destroyed or have your own units stuck
