  • We've got another satisfying dry ice cleaning video of an Acura NSX in our shop for your enjoyment this week. Come clean with me and the team as we turn this iconic JDM legend back to factory clean. Many of you might remember, our last NSX video broke the internet...
    Just as a reminder: The Acura NSX has an all aluminum frame. After dry ice blasting, we reapply undercarriage wax to protect the car, even though we're in southern California and the fear of rust is of little concern, especially with this car.

    Isn't that black coating material underneath the car for rust protection? Is it okay to remove it?

    • @Alpi-yn5jk

      yes it is for protection

    • @minilogoguy18
      @minilogoguy18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, at 1:45 you can see the undercoats texture, it isn't being removed. Just the layer of dirt that is caked behind the wheels. You need a serious abrasive like a metal wire wheel or sand blaster to remove that stuff.

    • @minilogoguy18
      @minilogoguy18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @LactoseTheIntolerant well the NSX is an all aluminum chassis, frame and body panels. Most of the steel on the car is the brake rotors and the bolts that hold everything together. Honda master tech here with experience working on these cars. These cars aren't black in the wheel wells when they roll off the trucks.

    • @ficklecycler
      @ficklecycler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LactoseTheIntolerant The NSX is an aluminum body. That'd be why it doesn't rust. The other cars you mention would rust promptly if you drove them in the winter, so it's good that you don't.

      It’s due to the customer, but he once told in a comment that they normally use a transparent Wax

    • @IAMDetailing
      @IAMDetailing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hauke is correct! We always apply a transparent wax to the most sensitive pieces of the car, and if the customer wishes, we can do more. They're usually removing the underbody protection for a reason.

    • @IAMDetailing
      @IAMDetailing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@downreach5751 I think you're going to be hard pressed to charge that much, especially at first. There's a lot more hours that go in to this than it seems like there is. so what you need to do is work backwards. Figure out how much your machine will cost and how long it will take for you to pay off. How much time it takes you on average for a job (so you got to do some jobs first) and then you can get an idea for how much ice you use and time it takes. It also depends on your market/location. We're in Southern CA, and it's still very niche, you know? Only a certain type of owner will be using this service, for now at least. And the field is getting more competative every day. And then remember, there's some dude steam cleaning charging like a 1/10th of that, and for most people, those results are fine.
      Just a few thoughts!
