Trash Day in North Park - San Diego ESD

The City of San Diego is in the midst of a major collection change. With SB 1383 in effect, the City has started the process of rolling out thousands of green bins, started composting food scraps, purchasing dozens of new trucks and expanding collection routes.
With the changes still in progress, we went down to the North Park neighborhood the sheer number of trucks were staggering. The neighborhood was dense but featured alleyways, semi-auto, manual and automated collection.
My goal with this video was to give you a taste of what it was like to film in the neighborhood for one day. The San Diego Environmental Services Department has a huge operation, and the scale was really neat to see.
You can't drive more than a few blocks on collection days without finding trucks. All in all, I believe we saw over 20 trucks in this neighborhood. Thank you to ‪@trashmonster26‬ for navigation and ‪@MendocinoRefuseTrucks‬ for running all over the place.
