- Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces that her government has applied for a judicial review for the province to be exempted from the federal carbon tax. The premier says that the federal carbon price is not applied equally across Canada, highlighting Ottawa's 2023 exemption of home heating oil from the tax. Home heating oil is used primarily in Atlantic Canada and Quebec.
She is joined at the news conference in Edmonton by provincial ministers Mickey Amery (justice), Rebecca Schulz (environment and protected areas), Brian Jean (energy and minerals), Nate Horner (finance) and Nathan Neudorf (affordability and utilities).
