  • Dad travels India hospital update + finale. During my dad's first time traveling India he ended up in the hospital in the previous episode. It took me 2 weeks to make a proper explanation because taking my father to an Indian hospital was the last thing I wanted on his last days traveling in India. Luckily it's a good end! Thank you so much for your support, it means everything!

    Travel Vlog Iv is a travel and food video channel. I'm Ivana, nice to meet you! You'll find travel and food videos on this channel because I like to take you along while exploring the world. These videos hopefully make you excited to travel and eat food around the world as well. There's such a joy in getting out of your comfort zone and growing as human being by traveling to new places and eating delicious food you've never tasted before.
    I'm currently based in Bangalore because India is my favourite country in the world. Travel in India is kind of my thing but I've been al over the world. Just check these playlists to begin your journey with me: bit.ly/2l4sMk4
    FAQ's:
    Q Where are you from?
    A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: bit.ly/2l17T9h
    Q How can you afford to travel so much?
    A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: • HOW TO TRAVEL THE WORL... and this one: • HOW TO SAVE MONEY FOR ... to learn more about my story.
    Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use?
    A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
    Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
    A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
    Q Why do you usually travel alone?
    A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.
    Q Why do you love India so much?
    A Watch this video: bit.ly/2iyUKkc and this one: • WHY I LOVE INDIA - 6 M...

    As a young doctor, I can't thank you enough for praising the Indian health care system. Most people in India don't realise how overworked, underappreciated and underpaid most doctors are ( at least young ones). A very small fraction of the hospital fee goes to the doctor's pocket. Also, people don't realise how easily you can see a specialist in India within a day while you have to wait for weeks or even months in most parts of the world. Thanks again for reaffirming that trust in healthcare workers. I hope your dad and you stay healthy. 💚

      Thank you so much for the amazing work you're doing! You'll probably never receive the fair compensation because there's no amount of money in the world to compensate for taking care of people's health. I just hope you get to live a good life with whatever salary you can make and people are grateful for what you do🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

      Many in India are poor and die due to not getting treatment. I appreciate all the hard work but India needs to grow fast and slowly things in hospital too will get better once its start becoming affordable to them.

    This made me tear. One night in 1980, I was in the kitchen, my mom yelled, “come right away”. It was a brain hemorrhage. It was the coldest January in New York I had ever known. I picked her up and rushed her to hospital. At the ER I did exactly as you screaming loudly to help her. Sadly, 3 days later she was gone. She was just visiting me from India - left me on India’s republic day. I adore how you take care of your family.

Great advice about having travel insurance, you just never know when you will need it. take care of yourself.

    On 31st of October my father had the same issue.. His BP shooted to 270/195 and on reaching the hospital his organs started shutting down.. Fortunately his CT and MRI brain were normal.. But his condition was very critical.. He is only 48yrs and I am still 24 and just finished my MBBS.. So I knew the gravity of the situation.. The doctor told me bluntly that he is not seeking any hopes of recovery.. It was the most difficult situation I was ever placed in.. Coz I was about to decide my father's fate.. I decided to move him to a tertiary care hospital (Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Andheri). His only treatment was Life Support.. They took such a good care of my father.. He opened his eyes after being in coma for 10days. I can completely understand what you might be feeling when ur father was not well.. But not loosing hopes and giving the best treatment is what our parents deserve😃

    So happy to hear that your dad was well enough to travel home to your mom. I'm sure she and your family doctor will take great care of him. I'm happy for you. You did a great job, doing what was needed when it was needed.
    I imagine that one of the things the docs provided him was simple aspirin to help prevent blockage. I did a small bit of reading and it suggests children of those who have had TIAs can be at risk, women being up to 3 times as likely to have such attacks. You are healthy and your lifestyle is perfect for prevention, but please keep it in mind.
    That hospital room was amazing. And I am flabbergasted by the cost. Here in the US, I looked it up, the cost of an ambulance ride, a room half the size (single bed and a chair or two with an attached bathroom), the MRI, blood work, and NOTHING else, can cost over 600,000 Rs.! Never come to the US without health insurance.
    In my former business I constantly came across clients who had had to filed bankruptcy due to medical costs, even with health insurance. And that can limit everything from getting jobs, renting apartments, getting loans to buy a house, or cars...for 7 years or more. And people here dream about the quality of healthcare in Europe, and if you are suggesting that he received better care there in Udaipur...wow! Simply wow!!
    Well done. Be well, stay strong. :)

    Indian private hospitals are some of the best and super cheap by foreign standards. Problem is with the government ones. That too because the number of people who cant afford private hospitals are way too many so the government ones are always super overcrowded

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      This will slowly change due to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Poor people are already being treated at private hospitals. Once the workload of government hospitals is reduced and number of medical seats are increased (by 2022) and MCI is overhauled/replaced, things will start to move in a more positive direction. 10 years from now, our healthcare system will be one of the best in the world.

    • @sarthakchawla98
      @sarthakchawla98 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@death_parade Will believe it when I see it bro 🤨🤨. Swacchh bharat started with much fan fare 4 years ago. And the streets in delhi have gotten worse. Way more garbage these days. Train stations are definitely cleaner.

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@sarthakchawla98 I agree. Swacchh Bharat has not been successful. And the blame lies with us. Forget advanced habits like waste segregation, we the people of India have failed to develop simple habits like not littering, not defecating in the open when we already have a toilet, etc.
      Thing is, its very easy to blame the authorities for everything. We all know our Fundamental Rights, and we talk about it all the time. How many times do we talk about our Fundamental Duties, which are also mentioned in the constitution?
      What you are calling "fanfare", was an attempt at spreading awareness. And it failed because we mocked the attempt instead of throwing our weight behind it in support of it. Such is the mentality of our people.
      If you ask the average person about the Clean Ganga project, they will see little to no change. If you ask them about our defence preparedness, many will think its actually gone down. And its the exact opposite of what has happened.
      This government has been trying to find out of the box solutions to big problems that we thought we would never get rid of. They are looking at things in a holistic manner: an integrated approach at the Grand Strategic level. This government has its faults, like all governments do. But their efforts are much more effective than the efforts of prior governments.
      We as citizens, only concentrate on the ground picture. However, we fail to see the structural changes that a government brings to the system. Structural changes take time to bring forth real changes that change the ground picture. And in the meantime, we the idiot people, vote the party that brings structural change out of government. We do this in the absence of a change in the ground picture, but fail to realise that changes in structural systems are slow to percolate down to ground level. And in the wake, the only thing we do is stuff our throats with opposition's propaganda and shout ourselves hoarse with it.

    • @sarthakchawla98
      @sarthakchawla98 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@death_parade Dude what you are saying is both true and false. We the people of India or any person in the world develops habits based on surroundings. I never litter. Not even once. I never mocked the effort to spread awareness. But a lot more needs to be done to really clean India. Lots more! And yes government is lacking here.
      Look around us. Do you think every single department is doing enough to make people develop these habits?
      The foothpaths are broken and always smelly. Drains are open and stink. The walls and pavements look depressing and unpainted since ages. Even the cleaning staff still uses brooms which stuff dust in our mouths 10 am in the morning. There are lane laws, laws against spitting, littering. But have you seen anyone get fined? Who would want to develop good habits in such a state. Good environment brings good habits.
      Singapore was one of the filthiest cities in the world at one time. Now its spotless. Because their government provided to people who were ready to change. And kicked the ass of the ones that didn't.
      Simply requesting people to change doesn't work. They are to used to the sloppiness. A carrot and stick approach is desperately required. The biggest example of carrot and stick working towards ensuring a clean environment is delhi metro

      Seems that you are a son of rich father so 300 Euro for a blood test is fine for you. Medical colleagues are the best place for treatment. Yes there are some problems there but surely they will not cheat me. And the quality of doctors there I can get is a big thing.
