KCD2 sold over twice as much AND twice as fast as the first games initial sales. At this rate, i believe in its first year KCD2 is definitely beating the 2 million copy record of the first game too. In ONE day we're already OVER half way there. Theres no way the anti-woke crowd is saying this game is bad, unsuccessful, etc. theyre all idiots and the people have spoken. 92% positive rating on steam after 5k reviews last time i checked. this game is incredible and should be highly respected. KCD1 also sold 8 million copies lifetime, which should also be noted cos thats a LOT of copies for a game like that, especially considering how much people make it seem like "no one played kcd1". warhorse has just flown themselves into the RPG greats conversation. cant wait for their next game and still barely really began their second.

Zero question or controversy about why this game is successful. Lots of astroturfing taking place on the discourse, but the devs brought the game their audience was interested in playing and paying for, doesn't grandstand, doesn't preach, doesn't force you into situations that radically alter the character against your wishes based on who they were in KCD 1. And I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that Warhorse won't mysteriously have wide-sweeping layoffs in the wake of rancid audience reception leading to cripplingly low sales. This is the kind of project that uplifts the medium, in spite of it being an unapologetically demanding gameplay experience.

I've been gaming for 25 years at this point and try to - gasp - play games instead of getting caught up in these stupid, manufactured debates. This might be in my top 5 games. Also, judging by those numbers, I think EA was probably right with their underselling estimate for Veilguard. We have to also account for how many people got a subscription to ea play for one month to play it.
About PC running hot, while there could be a bunch of reasons for that, it is worth to consider putting frame rate cap on the game from Your GPU driver. Personally I put my cap at 60, but You can go higher than that. Unlimited frame rate, can cause your hardware to run on close to 100% all the time, which can cause heating issues.
You're overly generous in assuming that all 1 million buyers actually played the first hour. The Steam global achievements on KCD 1 to date suggest that something like only a third of buyers actually got into that game after the prologue stuff. It'll be fun to see what KCD 2's stats (especially for the first few early game achievements) look like a year from now.
I am glad. It's not my type of game only because I don't like first person view games, but the game looks good and made with quality. So, I wish the best for warhorse and KCD2.
Haven't bought DCD, yet, but good. I'm not in a place to dedicate the time it needs and I already preordered Avowed, which I expect to be less demanding. I'm too busy to learn DCD2 atm. I want a game that's familiar and easy to slip into. I'm a big fan of POE/Deadfire and am jonesing for an Elder Scrolls throwback style game. However, I will absolutely be buying DCD2 over the next few months. Maybe I'll buy it now to support the game. I think you guys (and the weird pervasive politics that seem to dominate a lot of conversations) have convinced me.

KCD2 come out with a massive amount of positive hype while Veilguard had the exact opposite situation and a far more dreadful development cycle. No I still don't agree the financial estimate was fair. KCD2 is amazing though.

Almost no one knew anything about the game before *that* trailer was released and made 99% of the playerbase recoil. The negative hype was all on Bioware, they made and released those trailers. And even looking at the dev cycle. Anthem was released in 2019. That is 5 years before Veilguard, they had 5 years to fix whatever live service mess the game was supposed to be. To put that into perspective 5 years is the time frame inbetween Origins and Inquisition. Lets say I go to McDonalds, and all the chefs there have decided they are going to serve the meat raw. I am not going to like it, I am not going to reccomend it to any of my friends, infact I may tell them to stay clear and spend their money elsewhere instead. And if that particular McDonalds shuts down because no one buys their burgers anymore then I am not going to blame the McDonalds franchise. That is how I see the Veilguard situation. They made a product no one wanted. BG3 was called woke and sold tons. KCD2 as called woke and is selling tons. Hogwarts legacy got called woke and got hated by the terminally online left too, yet still sold tons. Anyhow, didnt mean to rant. If anything I am disappointed. My first ever PC game was BG1 when I was in my early teens and since then I have bought everything released by Interplay, Black Isle, Obsidian and Bioware. The combat and other immersive aspects of it kinda put me off but I realized the thing that’s truly keeping me from getting into it is the fact that it’s historical medieval and not fantasy 😅 I think if it had even some light fantasy elements I’d be more inclined to push through everything else

To put that into perspective 5 years is the time frame inbetween Origins and Inquisition.
Lets say I go to McDonalds, and all the chefs there have decided they are going to serve the meat raw. I am not going to like it, I am not going to reccomend it to any of my friends, infact I may tell them to stay clear and spend their money elsewhere instead. And if that particular McDonalds shuts down because no one buys their burgers anymore then I am not going to blame the McDonalds franchise. That is how I see the Veilguard situation. They made a product no one wanted. BG3 was called woke and sold tons. KCD2 as called woke and is selling tons. Hogwarts legacy got called woke and got hated by the terminally online left too, yet still sold tons.
Anyhow, didnt mean to rant. If anything I am disappointed. My first ever PC game was BG1 when I was in my early teens and since then I have bought everything released by Interplay, Black Isle, Obsidian and Bioware. Veilguard is the only game I have just given up on in those 25ish years of gaming.

These reviews show the difference between those who have a ligatmste grievance with woke content and those who are just ridding the wave witch ever way the clicks blow
More than riding the waves, I would say these are the true "ists" and "phobes" who are using the "culture war" to spread their own agenda and hate.
The rest are people who are worried about having good games with a true focus on quality.
KCD2 looks truly like a good game, tho, I haven't played it myself).
Too bad (Not Dragon Age) Veilguard was such a bad game, I had to force myself to finish it, and only because I waited 10 years for it and I wanted closure so badly. And in the end I decided to make that game non canon in my book 😂. So, I have to admit, buying Veilguard was throwing money through the window with no real reward.

I tried it out, just not for me. I found it incredibly boring but clearly based on people playing it is a good game.
The combat and other immersive aspects of it kinda put me off but I realized the thing that’s truly keeping me from getting into it is the fact that it’s historical medieval and not fantasy 😅 I think if it had even some light fantasy elements I’d be more inclined to push through everything else

Good for them! Unlike the anti-wokesters, I'm not going to try and tank the sales of this game or revel in its misfortune (which it appears it avoided) just because the gameplay mechanics are a turn off for me (see how easy it is to just ignore a game?). By all accounts, the rest of the game looks great! I just can't get past the combat, minigames, and save system. Hope others enjoy it though!
Be sure to report EVERY review on Metacritic (or elsewhere) that says the game is woke, gay, DEI, or some other offensive useless term.
