This answers many questions that have come up for me, even thought of using cattails for weaving, but they get so brittle. There are spruce all over these parts, this is so helpful! And 🤗🥰💖 for the kindness of fixing the site, truly showing gratitude and humility 💙
Thank you:) Best of luck with your own harvest. I am sure you will find it rewarding and straight forward. Thank you for appreciating the fixing the site. It should be a standard for everyone but sadly it is not.
I once collected spruce roots when in england, and was so chiufed, took ne ages ,came home with very long roots and strange looks from peopke as I passed them.I;m now back in Scotland.Thankyou for your great videos.
Sadly many People Are so detached from nature in many ways so they really wonder and sometimes scoff when they see People actually interacting with their nature. But its good to hear you have been collecting roots as well. All the best and thank you for taking the time to write:)
Another excellent and useful video! I have spent many silent hours collecting roots like this, they are amazingly strong and I use them mainly for binding my Hazel trellis in the garden these days. Excellent piggies!
hello again Edwin. Thank you. Great to hear you have also collected the roots. Im sure they do a great job for the Hazel in the garden. Its wonderfull to be able to harvest such excellent material for free in the forest. all the best:)
Love those videos! Love the pigs too! I put one of those pigs in the freezer about a month ago! I'm working on the hide now! Delicious meat! A deeper red than traditional pork! And not so much fat!
Hello Ian. Yes they Are tasty. I like wild boar meat alot. In Denmark and old traditional Dish is called brunkål. Translates to Brown cabbage. Its cabbage stewed wot butter and sugar and bacon and pork. Many years ago i tried it made with wild boar. That taste still haunts me and just writing it makes me feel like cooking:) maybe a future video idea. Enjoy your wild boar meat and best of much with the hide. Are you making leather or keeping the hair?
Always calming to watch you work my friend! I was about halfway through the video when I though "hang on, I'm sure I've seen him do this before when he made his backpack..." 😄 Great stuff as always. I've never tried making cordage from roots before, but I'll give it a go! Any thoughts on other projects to use it on? I suppose anything that requires lashing together really...
thank you Ingvar. yes i used a few of these shots in the backpack video but there it was just a small part in the longer video. I had some more shots and I wanted to use the rest, take a little better time with this topic and share the craft. yes anything that needs lashing. shelters, skis baskets etc. stay safe
Indeed they are interesting animals. I dont know about Arizona but the ones here gets very big and you have to show a lot of respect and not be too close. By far the most dangerous animal in the forest where I live.
@@RAMUNI-Viking yes they attack people and animals, pretty sure they ate one of my cats 😒 they came around my place each new moon, only in the darkest part of the night, and I've had many run ins on accident. They let me walk thru the herd in the dark, they stepped aside for me on my way from the outhouse to my trailer, which I only discovered when I opened my door to walk in, and saw a dozen standing where I just walked. Many stories.
hello Sandy. I respect them and keep my distance. I never try to get close or actively seek them like i might do with the deer or other animals. I have been in a few situations where suddenly I was too close to the boars and had to back down and away. In this video they are roughly 100 meters away from me when filming them. With the wind in my favour they were not aware of me. But i respect them and take care. but not worry. They are by far the most dangerous animals in the forests
I like the video, especially as I haven’t found many spruce root harvesting tutorials on TH-cam. You might be interested I’ve also made a spruce root harvesting video trying out some techniques that you haven’t here. Now I’m off to watch a few more of your videos 👍
Aren't those hogs dangerous if they have young? And then you sit there quietly looking for spruce, brave 🤗 But another educational video, thank you for sharing.
I have the highest respect for the wild boar. And I have walked in on Them by mistake on more than one occasion where i was suddenly within 20 meters. I was warned by sound and bodylanguage and had to back off and take a huge detour to go around and back to my car. But In this video they Are around 100m away from me And im good wind from them. But They Are dangerous so i have to take care. Thanks for watching my friend:)

So glad to see your post. Do you ever worry about the wild hogs? Here I carry as they can be dangerous and very destructive.
