  • Crag Crest National Recreation trail in a scenic and challenging 10 mile loop in Grand Mesa National Forest, with 1000 feet of elevation gain and a top elevation of 11,000 feet you are sure to enjoy the views of the big skies, heavily wooded mountains and the hundreds of deep blue lakes that make this national forest famous.
It is dog friendly, but please be respectful of national park rules and keep your pups on a leash.
If you come into the Mesa from telluride make sure to detour off the main highway and stop into the tiny town of Cedaredge,CO called the Gateway to the Grabd Mesa with its assortment of local shops and antique stores, it’s a nice stop off to look around, fuel up and grab some snacks (or gear at its adventure shop) before taking the scenic route into the Grand Mesa. When your done you can head back down abd get local breweries ice cold beer and good eats being served at its main restaurant The Lost Mesa Grill.
In the winter the Grand Mesa is a favorite destination of Snow Mobile Riders, Snowboarders and cross country skiers, it boasts a wide array of wildlife as well. Including deer, elk, small game and golden eagles.
We hope you make time to come to this lesser known part of Colorado.
p.s. sorry for the shaky video, our gimble is broken and I had to hand film, the terrain was quite difficult to film and watch where I was going safely, but I simply had to share this beautiful trail with you.
