It depends on the grade of tear If grade 1 or 2 tear then it usually doesn't require any surgery with basic precautions it will heal but grade 3 tear may require surgery in both horizontal or vertical tear Medicine is not the solution as body will heal itself only u need to let it heal and don't stress the meniscus much

Hello sir , first of all thank you for sharing valuable information. i have a query , in my MRI grade of the tear is not mentioned ( A large tear is seen in the posterior meniscal root of medial meniscus resulting in minimal extrusion of the meniscus from the joint line. intrasubstance PD hyperintense signal changes are seen in the posterior horn with no articular surface involvement ,suggestive of degeneration). doctor suggested me to have a surgery. do i really need to go for it or it will heal automatically? its been 1 year now. please suggest
