So the harness includes the piece that hides wire against the windshield?
Yes when you buy the harness it will come with some zip ties tape the cover piece for the windshield and a 20a fuse

Thank you! Looking at the Honda instructions makes this install seem a bit intimidating, but I'm more confident now that I can do it myself. If you had to do it over again would you have removed the dome light/sunglasses holder insert? I see that not removing the sun visors wasn't an issue... I think the main reason that Honda wanted you to remove that was to put tape in the seam so that the wire wouldn't run... With the shield on the wire, that doesn't even seem necessary.
You can do the install without having to remove it doesn’t see that necessary but it can be done
Honda wants their techs to install it that specific way so that’s why the instructions just seem like a big mess but that Honda wants their techs to do the install

Yeah at first I was about to get a mirror that fit the spot of the old one and wire it up but then I found out they sold this as an accessory and I didn’t see videos on it so I thought to share it for anyone that may like the auto dim function or want the homelink to replace their garage door remote

Good write up! I have the wiring harness for the accessory and bought a Gentex unit instead which looks identical but has a different pin out on the back and has a bezeless look (like on the Acuras). Do you happen to know what all 5 wires do? I have the pin out for the Gentex but couldn’t find a pin out for the accessory wires themselves.
Hey sorry for the late response I don’t know much of that mirror if you have a oem Honda harness I would say it be best to get the oem mirror if you take the part number from the description of the video and go on eBay you find the oem mirror for cheap or get the harness for the mirror you have and then wire it up because I really would know since I don’t have that mirror

They don’t come with it but if you are buying the car brand new you can request for the mirror to be installed with purchase

Wow! Such an amazing tutorial! A Honda dealership quoted $650 just for labor:( They said that they have to remove the roof liner, dash, and so on. Such a big lie! Appreciate it:) Equally excellent is this BGM...who is the artist? I love it:)
$650 is crazy for that and the reason they have to do all that is cause that what the instructions is telling them to do and that’s how they have to install it that’s why I made this video to show you can do it at home

Picked up mine from the parts dept today. For fun I asked service how much to install. They said 30 dollars so i am gonna let them do it for that price.

How did you get your screen to show as rear view of the car?? That’s dope!
It’s a diagnostic setting in the car you would have to enter by holding the home power and source button for 5 seconds once the menu’s pops up you would have it press on on detailed information then got to guideline setup once you press that you should have the rear camera on the screen

Great video! Do you think this would work in a 9th gen Accord since it seems there’s not much difference between the 10th and 9th gen with the roof panels, a pillar, the plastic panels you took off, and the fuse box
I seen that honda made a auto dimming mirror for the 9th gen but since removed it from their site but i believe the install the same with a few extra steps

In that case you would have to make your own wiring or you can find a part out that had the home link installed and just take it all out but that hard cars Honda sold the auto mirror but the home link is not in the mirror on the 9th gen it’s where the dome light is it’s separate from the mirror in that gen

What year is your Accord? I have a 2019 and according to Honda that mirror part number doesn’t fit my year. Thanks!
It will fit all the accord years I have a 2018
What does it mean if the home link buttons work but not the power button?
You will have check to make sure everything is plugged in all the way near the fusebox and also check the fuses in the mirror harness to to make sure they are not blown

How where you able to use the screen as your reverse?
On the screen you have it hold down the home power and source buttons till you hear a beep a white screen will come up
When it comes up press the bottom where it says detail and information
After you get another screen with more option you have to look for guideline setup press on rear wide camera then fixed guidelines and you should see the rear camera
Did the wire cover come with mirror or the harness can you get me a part number for it because I got a used mirror from eBay waiting on the harness to install it but don’t have the wire cover

And that mirror was needed I don’t like the ones that them models come with it’s terrible in my opinion
The other plugs are for the other accessories that Honda sells like the wireless charger

So they have other accessories but the wires are not installed in the car you have to purchase the wiring and install them in the car when you buy the other accessories
How do i keep that reverse camera on like that when driving?
You would have to hold the
home power and source buttons down till the diagnostic menu pops up
after that you would just press on the reverse trajectory setting when doing this Bluetooth will be disabled but you can still listen to music if you have an iPhone and use Apple CarPlay

Would you by any chance know why mine isn’t working. I connected everything the homelink buttons along with the auto dimming button light up except the icons behind the rear view glass don’t light up.
Ok check to make sure that you plugged in the fuse if that’s all good then make sure you check under make sure you harness is plugged in the harness in the correct spot and clicked in you can accidentally plug the connector to the right in the wrong spot because it also fit in another slot so make sure that one is all the way to the right
Found out I plugged my 4 pin into the eight pin. Looked on the 10th gen accord forums and someone else did that.

@@gimnedo you remember which forum this was by chance? Having the same issue, and I plug my connectors in, the mirror turns on, but no homelink.
Did you plug in the fuse that allows the homelink to to work
Any idea why the auto dim feature works but the home link doesn’t?
If the home link is not working you have to check if you put the 20a fuse in the 7th slot in the fuse box 8:45 in the video

The other kits on the site are for the Honda fit and the Honda odyssey and pilot the harness are made for those specific cars but the mirrors are shared

Not sure why that would be a concern for people a lot of people are just fine with the 2.0sport or whatever they have and when you purchase the car you can just request the dealer to add it in with the purchase of the car so you still wouldn’t be messing with it and it only takes like 20-30 minutes of your time to do this whole thing but if you afraid to work on your car that’s fine to

Almost every car has this design they used to be where the sunglasses hold was but they moved it to the mirror because it’s was easier reach for most people
