I love how truly present she was during the entire interview. And when Tom got distracted, she would entertain his whim and then gently guide him back to the original question😂 He needs someone like that in his life! And she has a great, sincere laugh, which is essential if you are going to be friends with a comedian.
He’s so nice. I really feel the same way about having children- not creating them, but “meeting” them, when they are born. And she is beyond great to hear. I appreciate her so much. Listened to her book on Audible, now will buy a copy, may go hear her in Woodstock NY.
I listened to the audiobook. I was curious because I had a similar relationship with my mom. But I was reluctant. I wasn’t interested in a trauma-bonding experience. I’m glad I gave it a try. She did a great job describing how she found herself through it all. And with a sense of humor. As a certain comedian likes to say, she’s the best.
Really nice to hear moon talk about growing up and her life now. And a nice keyhole into what happened with her siblings that I never knew. Thanks for doing this moon and tom!
Really interesting to see her grown up and hear she has a book, as I was in high school when her Valley Girl was so popular. I love podcasts where there is real conversation like this one even though we know there is also promotion.
Moon survived Frank, as a Dad. That's no short measure. I say that as a life-long Frank Zappa fan. And then there was Gail, her Mom. What an obstacle course. And in the end Moon turns out pretty grounded and kind hearted.
I want to be fast friends with Moon too. She is so delightful, insightful, animated and articulate, and her face is so expressive, I just love it. I ran into her (you, if you happen to read this) in our mutual stomping grounds once years ago and told her how much I loved her father's music expecting a brief encounter and she was so engaging. I also said that his guitar playing was overshadowed by his many other gifts, but he was such a phenomenal guitarist. She was truly interested and was happy to speak to me about her dad's music asking if I had seen him live and so forth. I would love to have an encounter with her again having both lived full and interesting lives since then. I have her book and am looking forward to digging in (with my reading glasses, of course).
I hope Moon knows how awesome she is and what a great person she has turned into as an adult with her own child. That she is such a talented individual. Her parents honestly should have been neutered and spayed. Who tells their children not to call them mom and dad besides 2 narcissists? who doesn't eat together, ever? who doesn't hug? And then to lie about a will and then to have your 2 younger siblings say they want to honor her will vs the will your Dad left 23 years before her death, that she lied about. She literally died knowing she would continue to cause imbalance with the 4 of you. And you with such grace, to go on his podcast and talk. I hope Ahmet and Diva see all the comments explaining the obvious and make right what your delusional and mentally unstable 'gail' did to all of you. Peace to you.
Imagine getting on an author who's written a memoir about how jerk offs influence people, and straight out of the gate its 'Welcome to the show, I didn’t really read your book. I skipped through most of it' You can see Moon's face project a little more dying inside. Well done!
She seems like such a together girl and quite charming...shame about her mom, well, as the old saying goes, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your relatives
Question here. Does Moon play any musical instruments? Just curious. I saw her father perform once in Scottsdale, Az. What impressed me the most was his band. He surrounded himself with incredibly talented musicians.
It was apparent that Moon couldn't figure out why Tom was talking about the Olympics instead of her. Maybe I was just transplanting my thoughts into her?
Oh my gosh. The statin vs grapefruit he read some info about how it is the grapefruit that helps heal us and not the statin. That is why you can't have grapefruit while taking the statin. You definitely need to look in to it.
I SMELLED BULLSHIT WHEN SHE SAID SHE WOULD BE GENEROUS WHILE COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT GETTING THE MONEY , HER FATHER HANDED HER AN AFFLUENT LIFE . I CAN UNDERSTAND A RESENTMENT FOR A LACK OF ATTENTION BUT THE MONEY STUFF IS TOO MUCH
@@davelind8854 I guess you missed the part in the book where she had to sell her house to pay her father's medical bills because he didn't have health insurance.

Well now this is a surprise…… the little I’ve seen of Moon has always been utterly delightful
She's been on Maron(WTF podcast) recently, also
I've been waiting for Moon's story for years!
God she's beautiful too.
she's great on WTF as well
Really nice conversation. Thanks Moon and Tom.
Earth to Moon is a very well-written book. Moon does a masterful job across the board...
Moon's book is incredible
Great read. She’s very smart and insightful. Great writer too.
Man, I saw that she was going around news outlets but never expected to see Moon Zappa on Breaking Bread! What a treat
I remember when Moon Unit was a guest VJ on MTV. She is eternally cool. ❤
Moon is splendid...a joy to listen to🎉
We need more Moon in the podcast-interview space! This was a great ep, Tom!

Earth to Moon is a fantastic and fantastically written book. Wonderful read.
What a delightful interview. You get along so well.
Delightful conversation, she is very funny and quick witted with a big laugh.

Moon seems to be such a beautiful person, inside and out.

She’s so damn witty. Such a gem!👍🌙😁
Moon's wonderful. I read her book in 2 days. Let's just say we have a shared experience.
Love Moon!❤
She’s a brilliant human & wondrous artist! 🖤

Great interview. I'm loving the book (almost done) and hope more podcasters and comedians will book her to talk about it.
Sure glad I watched this. Moon is delightful, and she and Tom were legit connecting!
Moon is beautiful!
Her book was really, really good.
That Makes Me Second! Woo Hoo! 👍👀 Moon Unit Zappa is Cool! 🌚 A Delightfully Enjoyable Chat, and So Insightful, 100% 😌
her book was amazing --she survived!!
Steamed cauliflower with butter and salt and pepper is a fave
My husband has a book called Use The Right Word - it takes u down the rabbit hole of discernment! Love it
great interview, thanks!!
She’s so snappy, and with a great laugh.

Great interview, great book
The red seats remind me of “ One Size Fits All” album cover
My god, don't say you believe in Bigfoot, Moon ! Lol
Bread starter flake…this would be a business idea Tom. I’d pay money for an envelope of Tom Papa bread starter.
She is amazingly charming btw.
And we all know he’s talking about Bobby Lee’s house 14 mins in? 😂😂😂
She seems like such a together girl and quite charming...shame about her mom, well, as the old saying goes, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your relatives
Moon Unit Alpha, and Moon Unit Zappa.....if you know, you know
I know the Egyptologist lady! She can really do the things for real!
Die Moon scheint sehr nett.
What a beautiful person

Grapefruit spoons FTW 🏆
... well, this was fun.🤟😜
It was apparent that Moon couldn't figure out why Tom was talking about the Olympics instead of her. Maybe I was just transplanting my thoughts into her?
Best mummy movie: Bubba Ho-Tep
I didn't realize Tom was Italian ..that's how bright I am lol
❤
Frank was a original and never used other artists song titles to express himself
Such a shame this happened when we know that Frank would have wanted the family to be tight, BUT this is not a new story at least in our world!
Does she talk about what it's like dating a man who looks exactly like her father for years?
Grapefruit spoons!
🤟🤟
Anyone else looking up Bottarga?
I pronounce cauliflower like she does ....and I am east coast
I'm a big Unit guy.
monster movies - Cheepnis
Am I missing something? I thought this was supposed to be about her book.
Oh my gosh. The statin vs grapefruit he read some info about how it is the grapefruit that helps heal us and not the statin. That is why you can't have grapefruit while taking the statin. You definitely need to look in to it.
I looked up cauliflower and Tom right
Try Lamy pens
Tom Pappa, have you been to Japan? They have Godzilla images large as life in the train stations.
At least Frank wasn't a Papa John Phillips, i hope!
Tom are you going to tell her that a kid wrote most of American television?
What got culled.. hahahahahahahahaha
Frank refused the plaster casters offer to pose
Tom is my favorite gay comedian.
Lack of empathy has a lot to do with privilege.
im the 1st like
I think Frank's death was a bit suspicious
Frank was not a bad influence
I don't get why she's saying she was completely cut out. The split in money was 30, 30, 20, 20? It's less but not cut out.

90% bullshit conversation 10% Moon's book; this interview is dull.
