  • Welcome to our Alaskan homestead! In this video, we're thrilled to take you on a tour of our garden and share the journey we've experienced over the past few years to bring it to life. Living in rural Alaska presents unique challenges, especially when the ground is frozen for most of the year. With only a few months each year to work on our garden, it's been a labor of love and perseverance.
We'll show you how we cleared the land, brought in and moved soil to create our garden rows, and started our seeds indoors to get a head start on the short growing season. You'll also see how we put up a sturdy fence and gate to protect our garden from livestock and wildlife. From the first seeds to the flourishing plants, this garden is a testament to our dedication and passion for sustainable living.
Join us as we walk you through the process, share tips and tricks we've learned along the way, and celebrate the beauty and bounty of our Alaskan garden. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more homesteading adventures!

You all are workers! I do have a question. You cut off the tomatoes at the soil and then planted them, why. I have been doing a garden for years, and while I have took broken tomatoe and pepper stalks and put in soil they have grown, but my biggest yields have come from planting them right out of starter pots, with roots and all. I am just curious.
Your asparagus and fruit trees look fabulous! Loved the arch and entry area as well. Pray all your produce, and herbs do great.

We just cut them to toss them in the compost but then we decided to put them in the ground in a spot with room

Yes we are, just trying to keep up with the homestead. Richard got injured so we've been taking it a bit slow. We hope to get back in to the swing of things soon. Thanks for asking 8)
