I went to Ranger School in 1992... it was 52 push-ups, 62 sit-ups, and a 2-mile run in 13:53. Not, really too different now. I do remember that the instructors would stop you at the requirement. i.e. 52 push-ups then ordered to stand. Great channel.
Roger that and the R.I.’s seemed to forget how to count on some of those pushups- I bet I heard 25 more than once. Good times- or were they😫. RLTW 12-92
I think the Army is forgetting more and more that ranger school is a “SCHOOL” and not a selection course I’m not saying they should make it easier but it’s original mission is to train soldiers on leadership and expertise on small unit tactics and the more we gatekeep soldiers from learning these skills the less amount of that knowledge can be brought back to their units
It's a Leadership Course that sets a standard to bear for the Army that will be emulated throughout the Combat Arms forces. We should be constantly lifting the bar incrementally, not thinking about catering to non-performers who aren't willing to reach beyond themselves. We're counting on Ranger School graduates to return to their units and leading the way.
I’m going into the first class of 2025, I went to 75th RR’s SURT in November and we did a diagnostic of this new rpa and the cadre told us there will be no time standard. Instead, the bottom 18%times will be dropped and fail rap week and there’s no kit and helmet
I recommend that if this is something you might be interested in trying: -get to know as many Ranger NCOs or cousins or friends of infantry NCOs as you can - and through that network get information about what the course is like now. because it is always changing. and through the right network, you can get some good tips -don't drink alcohol and eat right. I see way too many young kids who work out a lot, but also drink a lot. -get your testosterone up as much as you can -try to get at or near the front of the line for every pre-entry test - if you can. if they have too many students, they can just cut off the test and ask you to wait for the next class don't listen to me.
Yeah makes no sense to make the PT test harder when it’s just a gateway test the current test is fine. I can see just changing the push ups to T push ups and sit-ups to the plank but increasing the mileage and a smoke session prior is just overkill
Everytime some higher up wants to change a PFA, they should lose their tab/badge and will have to retake the course in order to wear it again. RPFA is just a gate event it doesn't translate to the rest of the school. The EIB pt test when I first joined was 210 APFT 70% EA in the 17-21 age group then 80% with a 32min 4 mile later on.
