      I could never understand that either. I was a very organized dude during my time and I still checked my crap like 30 times prior to arriving at ranger school. of course the italian airlines lost my luggage. just like they did in sniper school. just like they did for BNOC 🤣🤣. For sniper school and BNOC they arrived about 2 days later. ranger school my shit showed up 7 days later. needless to say I was a recycle right off the bat. it finally arrived, I started the next class, went straight through. the only good thing that came out of that was a few weeks of picking grass out of rocks, repainting battalion scrolls on the sides of the buildings, polishing everything that was brass in the ranger hall of Fame I ended up getting the jitters out of the way about being there that when the next class started it wasn't as much of a slap in the face 🤣

    I’m going for round 2 in July. I unfortunately blew out my knee in Darby. But I can attest that the Gritty Soldier Ranger prep program is GOLD! I did the 13 week and the 6 week prior to going in 2021. I arrived at school completely confident in my ability to pass RAP and move on through the course and I did. I was just unfortunate to get injured during patrols.
    Your advice is spot on for RAP week.

    I truly believe that a good portion of the RPA failures, especially the push-up failures, fail because of something mental. I remember when I got down there with the RI right next to me, it was almost a surreal feeling, your head can definitely get the best of you.

    9-22 Grad, If possible don't take the smoking's too serious day 0 (and all of that week tbh). RPFT was very fair in terms of RI grading, I watched it as a Darby recycle as well. Land nav got a lot of people in the summer veg. Go to closest point first. RTTs should be a easy or you didnt prep well. Don't use Ranger pro its not correct. 12 mile is a grit fest/do you want it. Use and pace electrolyte consumption throughout it. RAP is an open book prep well and take it hour by hour. Sleep with feet elevated. All TA-50 is now brought from home unit. Aerobic shape is great but strength is helpful. 37min 5 mile, land nav retest, 2:57 ruck in school. I was B-co started 113 ended RAP with 52

    Good Morning Gritty Soldier, I was also one of the guys dropped from 11-22. Thanks for your video although I'd caution you that a couple of things were a bit different at RS this last time. One is the Ranger pro app is 100% not up to date with the standards at RS. Most notably is the claymore. The other thing is the "They don't smoke you before the RPA" . They got into us a bit during the layout and the forced bag carries were killers.

    I graduated Class 2-97 on 14 FEB 97, and turned 35 on 21 MAR 97. Showed up in shape, mind right, and listened to what the RIs said. In RAP week we did the 5 mile run as a group, with the RIs running with us singing cadence. If they caught you not sounding off, they took your dog tags while running and you had to go see them after the run.

    09-22 Grad. RS is over hyped. Show up fit and ready to go. You will be just fine. The failures during RAP week could not pass a physical event, did not know how to do land nav, or did not practice RTTs enough. Simple as that.

    • @modelashane7545
      @modelashane7545 ปีที่แล้ว

      People who complete ranger school are “ranger qualified” not actual rangers. Since you’re prior service, it will be difficult to get a contract to go to ranger bat. If you want the tab, join the guard or army, go in the infantry and perform well. Your command will send you to school as long as your PME complete.
      I’ve done all these, as a prior service 0311 looking through all my options I actually joined the guard, picked up rank quick, got a fat ass promotion and been sent to plenty of schools.

    I went through Ranger School starting in April 1973. There was no RAP week then, but basically most activities discussed in what is now called RAP was called City Week in my day. Took place at the Harmony Church area. I was a MP 2LT with a year of AD and won the class leadership award, then called Merrill’s marauders Award. 88 of the original 236 starters graduated and were TABed in my class. Probably some recycles graduated later?

The only big takeaway if you make is past RAP at SURT is they still do all of their patrols at squad level where as Ranger School it's platoon level.

There was a guy named Dra'go. Ran triathlons in that program. I went up against him. He came past me like I was crawling. And only 5'7 tall 175 lbs. I paced in behind him . At turn point . If I recall. He done a 2hr5min time. I got back ,he asked what happened to me..I said I had to take stop and shit..lol..out of my four man team. A Sgt. Was just fkng 100yards away from the turn in. And he just locked up..His muscles were gone.locked up..lacked potassium etc. I wore jungle boots with Cadillac inserts , Goretex socks, and secret blister sauce..Dry under arm stick rubbed on tops and heel areas of the feet.. no blisters etc. My 82nd ABN unit ran 5 -10 mile runs every week...Wet 80lb sand bag work outs. Sand bag push ups. Two man teams. We trained with heavier Alice packs..Not 35..But 80lbs over weekly.. Conditioning yourself..

    I’m leaving for basic in November and then OCS after graduation. Once I commission I know I’ll have to go to BOLC (hopefully infantry), but at what point will I be going to Ranger School? Right after IBOLC or is it weeks/months later? Also what’s different between enlisted and officers at Ranger School?
    Thank you!

      Usually at least a preranger program in between and no one wears rank at ranger school.

      @@Tyler_255 nah it’s not even bad tbh it just sounds worse then it is . I went straight thru when I was a private . Just takes a little grit and that’s all you need . The food and sleep deprivation become normal and you figure out a routine .
