This game is so underrated it's not even funny. The levels are excellent, the 3D is awesome (imo), the characters are amazing, and the MUSIC is AWESOME. Will never forget this game.
The combos gave my thumb a blister. I needed a cloth to perform the really complex moves due to painful repetition. The Playstation directional pad has a rough surface, not great for doing quarter circle or half circle combos.
I wholeheartedly agree and I also love sprite based characters too. It automatically actives the Nostalgia deep within seeing these polygons/sprites for characters.
I spent a lot of hours on this game clearing the expert mode. This is definitely a favorite of mine from my childhood not just because of the gameplay, but the music for the game is top notch. 😄
***** "...good adaptation for a game gone 3D at the time." That was the main objection I recall, hardcores freaking out as if SF going 3D was a sinful abomination.
***** I don't really have a dog in the race, I was never a very big SF fan. But I did have SF EX+A for PSX for some reason and I enjoyed it well enough. I just remember hardcore SF fans talking a lot of shit about it, s'all I'm saying.
+Druffmaul I LOVED this game when it came out and I say this as someone who grew up playing SF II Turbo and all its variants on the Sega Genesis. If I recall correctly, I think the biggest gripe about SF EX+a was that this game was not developed by Capcom, it was developed by Arika who asked permission to Capcom to develop a 3D version of SF and Capcom said yes. That's why some characters such as Doctrine Dark, Skullomania, Kairi, etc. don't appear on any other SF game except the EX series developed by Arika. I think Arika did a superb job with this game. I constantly compare SF IV with this game and I still think SF EX beats SF IV by a large margin.
@@GungKrisna12 Not really, game companies were coming out with alot of new exciting games some worked some failed. Not like these days cookie cutter releases
Eh, back in the PS1-era the main game being released was platformers, I’m not a fan of FPS games but even I can admit we get a lot of good releases still
This was my first videogame play in my life and the first contact with this hobby. Since this moment i love videogame. I have 35 years old and don't have a lot time for play but i still enjoy this culture. Thanks to my big brother for showing me this game that change my life forever and that has given me so many happy moments
My favourite SF game. The unlimited special gauge in the practice mode was awesome and had me spending hours trying to link everyones combos😅 All the characters were awesome and had awesome moves too. Garuda, D.Dark and Blair were my favourite. And this is also where I was introduced to 🔲,🔲,➡️,❌,R1. 😁
Nostalgia! Did anyone ever finish every training mission? I never did, there were some really tough combos that had to have ridiculously accurate timing! Which ones did you find the hardest? Zangief's were a nightmare for controls and I also hated the mission where you to keep someone in the air for 30 seconds!
i remember playing this back in the day. Didnt like it at first but after awhile i enjoyed it alot. one of my fav street fighters and awesome soundtrack
Ahhhh this game...this game right here caused a full 3 hours of my brother and I staring at the screen mad as hell at each other. No words being said....whoever lost just kept tapping the start button for a rematch the moment "K.O." came on the screen and I DARE you to get up and not rematch me!! lol
I swear fighting games were made for brothers to fight peacefully. get some shit off ya chest fighting your brother in the game lol I went thru the same shit with all my brothers.
Ahhh I remember these days. Tekken was killing it at the time. Every fighting game was trying out the 3D format, replay KO's, they even got rid of the traditional super gauge.
the characters display was so unique for street fighter... got to love the combos they were just insane in the series... hope they make a return... a nicely polished game but without destroying what makes this game the gem that it is...
Street Fighter X Tekken should've been like this. Have the Street Fighter character's moves, but have Tekken's 3D style gameplay. The Devs should've taken from this game HUGELY when they made Street Fighter X Tekken. It's sad too, the idea of having innovators of two different fighting game types is an AWESOME idea that could've lead to many creative ideas. It's a shame that they took the easy route when making that game. At least we're getting a new Street Fighter EX in 2018. :)
I’d heard of the EX series but never really knew what it was or saw it in action before. This is badass hahaha. I was into SFA3 and Tekken 3 in early high school and this would have blown my mind
Like i remember... Ryu talks Japanese because he is Japanese... Idk if all of the characters talked Japanese... Because some of them weren't Japanese. Not sure thouuugh😊
Street Fighter EX plus Alpha was terrific. Unfortunately, Arika still owns the rights to great EX characters like Skullomania, Allen Snider, Garuda and others. Characters we would love to see brought back. I grew up playing the first EX. This brings back memories, and the game music was just brilliant.
I specially like Kairi's/Hokuto's stage theme "sakura mankai". Also the practice mode was great in this game, you could learn all basic and andvanced combos while having fun.
+Mezase Master The ones shown on the select screen were the first characters in the arcade game. Then they added more characters to the arcade game but didn't add them to the select screen.
One of the best Street Fighter games of all time. Also, the announcer sounds like Chris Redfield. This is the only good EX game. Ignore 2 and 3 please.
Love the aesthetic of this era of Capcom games. I’m not sure what engine it was they were using from the mid 90s to the early 2000s, but it has this distinguishable vibe to it that you could identify right away from even the starting menu. A great example of this is the Mega Man X PS/Saturn era games (particularly X4, X5 and X6), and the first two Marvel vs Capcom games.
This game does have one of the best sound tracks. Every characters music seemed appropriate for them not mention, I liked the 3D versions much better then the 2D.
The music in this game is criminally underrated.

The whole game is criminally underrated.
I still can’t believe how sick that Bison guitar rip is
Wasn't this music used in EX3?
This game is so underrated it's not even funny. The levels are excellent, the 3D is awesome (imo), the characters are amazing, and the MUSIC is AWESOME. Will never forget this game.

The combos gave my thumb a blister. I needed a cloth to perform the really complex moves due to painful repetition. The Playstation directional pad has a rough surface, not great for doing quarter circle or half circle combos.
Still my Streetfighter game.
The announcer at the beginning was all like
"STREET FIGHTER EX! (plus alpha...)"

this game was smooth! graphics might have a a bit of edges, but man the gameplay is intense and runs real smooth and the music.... ooooh the music
I wholeheartedly agree and I also love sprite based characters too. It automatically actives the Nostalgia deep within seeing these polygons/sprites for characters.
Yeah nee too this and last bronx style
Y'all weird
For sure. From these guys to lego figures in a Final Fantasy game.
I spent a lot of hours on this game clearing the expert mode. This is definitely a favorite of mine from my childhood not just because of the gameplay, but the music for the game is top notch. 😄
Good god expert was rough with the damage the CPU could do!! One simple combo from Akuma would eat 3/4 of your life bar!!
I remember the first weekend i played this game for hours i had a bloodblister in my thumb from training for hours.
M G holy shit my cousin had that on his thumb too before from this game
Haha same here!
Lol.same
Same 😆😆😆
Square square forward x r1 is screaming dragon lol I've never forgotten
My favorite sf game. This game the best music I could listen to it all day. Great video
Hell yeah. Strange Sunset was my favorite bgm
+Terrance McDonald It easily has the best music of the EX games and rates up highly among the whole Street Fighter series.
+Martyn de Weert No it has the best music of ANY sf game
Garnet Sky all day for me! :D
+Dorya Strange Sunset.
Surprised at all of the positive comments. My recollection is that when this came out the hardcore SF fanbase *HATED* it with a passion.

This is super nice. Combo, system, character, everything is well designed. Played a lot in the past.
ALOT better than easily half of whats happening right now
Back in time when consoles had a respectable array of games and not just a bunch of repetitive FPS games all over the market.
Maybe because of the market trend at that time (in this time, the market mostly favors fps)

Absolutely its this jazz song on one of the fighting stages i can't get out my head wish i knew the name of it.

this game has a great soundtrack!
Specially Hokuto's Stage
Light Guardian of Ken and Precious Heart of Sakura
Aldo Gomez Perez or Chun-Li’s
