I bought a couple of these spinners last week after watching this video and I've been pounding the fish on it. I've hooked up over 15 times in 3 trips to the river with this spinner. Landed 5 of them. 2 of the fish I hooked up on were steelhead So it's not just for salmon. They hit it like a hammer , half the hits I get at first I think I hit a snag then the snag starts pulling lol. I've never had This much fun salmon fishing. This spinner bait I have is smoked. It's been bent up and I keep straightening it out. Paint on the blade is half gone, the lead weight has barely any paint left on it but it still get hits and still catches fish. Thank you so much for this tip it's worked out great for me. I bought 4 of these, 2 chartreuse 1pink and 1 green. Next payday I'm going to buy a couple more chartreuse. These are a must have for any salmon fisherman.

im a guy whose been swinging flies for 30 years on spey and switch rods; over Lake Michigan and Huron and superior....the last 10 years its been almost exclusive by choice. Here's my reality on it......Its GREAT when a strike on a swung or stripped streamer happens, but honestly, the vibrations that a good plug or spinner throw off make a huge difference vs. a fly. I started swinging flies to get "the attack" from steelhead and salmon......and I really like and prefer fly fishing, but im no elitist snob. In the end, in my experience...Kings on swung flies get really really tough to elicit strikes. It happens, yes it does: but nowhere near what happens if someone drops down into the hole you just left tossing spinners or big slow wobbling cranks.

A few years ago I was salmon fishing a coast river. I had hooked 18 salmon that day and limited. A guy in the boat hadn't touched a fish all day. Last hour of light he hooked a 30plus lb hen after a little battle he brought her in quick I thought I could stab her up I. The net. I swiped and tangled his flasher weight fish all all broke off becuase of my net job.. I felt the hate instantly... Lol

Hi Fish Fray, i can see you use piscifun reels a lot, and i want to ask you wich reel do you think is the best for salmon fishing in a river. The honor xt 3000 or the carbon x spinning reel. The important things for me is feel so i can feel i work the spinner like i want in the current, and quality, for many figths and a lot of fishing and casting in current a lot like you fish in your videos just for atlantic salmon in Denmark. It looks like the honor xt might be heavy but it also looks like it is strong enough to fish a lot. On the other hand the carbon x looks like it has the feel. The question is if the carbon x will be strong enough.
    best regards Niels.

I fish a few streams that have hook regs. I have found that I lose less tackle with single hooks on my Cleos and Kastmasters as well. It doesn't seem to matter when a fish grabs them either. I use Owners 1/0 or 2/0 siwash singles with a swivel for those fish that like to spin. They can't twist your line up. I'm going to pick up a couple of those arctic spinners tomorrow morning. I saw one of your other videos you were catching kings on them. I've been having a hard time catching salmon this year. I hooked up 3 times this morning and lost all 3. I need some skein really bad and some spawn to tie up for steelhead this winter. My stock is running low. Really low.

Just curious, what is the lowest lb test for a leader you've used? I finally hooked up with one today and got snapped off within about 3 seconds, drag was fine, and it was a clean break. I'm thinking probably just bad luck, I was using 10lb fluro.

I've landed kings on 6lb while steelheading, lowest I would run while targeting them would be 12lb

@@FishFrayI actually ended up figuring out what it was, the o-ring on my last guide tip fell out which was fraying the line every time i casted. Got a new tip for it and I'm good to go now, but ty for the info on that, pretty interesting and helpful anyways!

Nice fish!! I'm hoping to get up there next week and catch my first salmon. Would they be any good to eat at this point?

If you have a smoker than many will be edible, if not I'd focus on targeting coho salmon

Hey fray. Do you use a swivel with your spinner, or do you tie your line straight to the spinner?

Fray we all know who's flossing and who's fishing. Keep up the good work. People always hate on the centerpin guys. You'll never win. Just keep making your buddy's happy. You're a good man. It won't be long but us folks wants some steelhead coleville pin vids.
