  • Thanks to Prof. Jenny Xiao (Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of Washington, Tacoma, PhD in Social Psychology, New York University) for sharing her thoughts with me. My questions were:
    1. Can you briefly tell us about your area of expertise, and how you think your field can contribute to understanding what we are experiencing psychologically in this pandemic.
    2. We are forced to rely on technology to communicate with one another currently. In your opinion, will it increase or decrease our need to have human contact over time (after the crisis)? Specifically, I am wondering if this might permanently change our behavior patterns and affect models of certain industries such as (performing art)? Will people stop or less likely to go to public events?
    3. For communities (such as performing art, any public service...) that are laid off due to the circumstance (economically as well), what advice would you give to those communities in terms of dealing with potential loss of identity?
    4. On a global scale, would you say we will face more nationalism?
    5. In this pandemic, we are seeing an increase in discrimination against Asian communities. Can you please share some of your insights about this issue? Is this out of fear?
