I love my Borla XR-1 you’re the reason why I decided to put one on my Silverado and it sounds amazing. I love getting ready to head to work and hear those bald eagles scream early in the mornings cold start. Definitely worth every cent.

Dillon Sturgeon I have a Range Technology Active Fuel Management Disable Device I bought on amazon it’s a plug and play. You can take it off and on and it’s very easy to install. I watched some TH-cam videos on it and gave it a try. It also lights up the floor and I liked that as well. But I haven’t had any issue with it. It prevents the truck from dropping into V4 mode and making the truck sounds like a helicopter. If you add any after market exhaust or muffler I recommend this. I feel like it will also help save you’re motor in the long run.

Just a friendly reminder that should be put in your exhaust videos, anybody who lives where there is lots of snow is better off getting the exhaust welded so snow and salt doesn’t get through any penetrations.

Because of you I bought the xr1 and set it up the same. It's a little loud and there is some drone but nothing like a glasspack, flow40, or cherrybomb.

Yup the XR-1s sound amazing. But sound even better when you run stainless steel long tube headers to an x pipe to 2 XR-1s. Such an improvement 👍

How is the sound woth 2 xr1's? And what size are they? I was thinking of doing 2 xr-1's with 2.5" inlet/ outlet to allow some back pressure
I love my magnaflow muffler same idea as the borla but have mine as a true duel set up love that but ur truck is always clean keep it up
noticed the typical cracked dash on your truck, how about a install video on a new one or a skin? just throwing it out there, love the vids keep it up.

That Borla XR-1 sounds amazing, I’ve been wanting to put one on my truck since I saw your install video! I was looking for “the right one” for a bit before that as I want something more performance oriented with a deep rumble plus my 03 has 290K miles on it and the stock muffler is just crumbling from the inside out lol. (No worries the rest of the truck is solid) But once I saw your video I knew that the Borla XR-1 was going to be the one. The only reason I haven’t gotten one yet is because I am going to be installing true long tube headers and a true dual exhaust too and I just want to get it all done at once, but I have not been able to find anything really close to what I want so I am fabricating my own stainless headers and dual x-pipe exhaust and that is the hold up. Not necessarily the fabrication itself but the mathematics/design as these headers are going to be Tri-y headers tuned for low end torque specifically for my engine & cam. I can not wait to hear her purr when it’s all done...😍👌🏼 By the way keep up the great work you are a big inspiration for a lot of people and we really love what you do on this channel!
The street dump is alot less expensive than running the pipe all the way back with a new tip! good video I'm sold!!

I’ve had this exact muffler for about a month. And I do have to give you credit because after you had your install video out, I had my eyes on that muffler. Sounds exactly the same on my single cab Sierra. Still plan on doing a proper intake for it

Great videos man I like where you’re going with expanding the channel to the garage and I agree with a few of these guys I think the truck would sound much better with long tube headers and maybe even a new cam to give it a nice lope. Always excited to see where your build goes keep up the good work

Run the same muffler with long tubes and a catless y pipe and it is loud
Miss the old headlights. I like what you did to customize the ones you have on now. It was super clever and better than stock. But those others with the two while led bars, i think set the front end of more and tied in the the chrome on grill. Just an observation.

You should add speed engineering 1"7/8 longtube headers with either a highflow cats y-pipe or a offroad catless y-pipe also get it re-geared 4:10 or 4:30 gears with a Detroit true-trac and swap the k&n fipk with the s&b cai and a hptuners dyno/street from a speed/performance shop you'll love it
paid around a grand for my corsa sport setup on the '13 avy (love the corvette heritage)...this sounds so good i might consider saving $$$ on the next truck!

I had this muffler and not gonna lie I was completely unsatisfied with the sound.
If I could go back and have a chat with my self a year ago when I bought the borla I wouldn't have bought it.
If you want sound out of your truck I recommend going with something more.
So I went and bought Speed Engineering
1 3/4 longtube headers to a catless true dual exhaust. The difference was night and day. I promise you just go all out and you'll never look back. Hope I can help someone.
I'm pretty sold on the Carven Progressive exhaust. Haven't picked it up yet. Hopefully after tax return time

Once my "stage 1" idea for the exterior is complete we'll be migrating inside. Audio, subs, amps... i'm sure will all be coming!
Next project should be headers. That will add some serious growling sound
I see a trend with this recommendation... just might have to look into it.
Good content and really appretiate the comparison at different throttle strokes. Although a more compact video that gets right to the point would be better instead of sifting through video to get to hear it. Keep it up! I have a 07 Chevy 2500 and I love being able to make most comparisons.
You should really consider running pipe all the way out the back. It makes it sound more crisp and not as "muffled" sounding. Then again some people like that, some don't. I know IMO my 2500HD 6.0L sounds a lot better with the tail pipe all the way out the back then it does just dumped right off of the muffler in my opinion. I have a couple videos of what it sounds like if you ever want to check it out.

What difference does unleaded gas and premium gas do to your truck??
None. I sometimes run a performance tune that advances the timing in my truck, so 93 octane is a must.

You should get some longtubes and delete cats on it, it will sound so much better I know my truck has the same xr1 muffler AR longtubes catless y/pipe and sounds very good
I've found the Borla XR-1 Oval (40943) is actually louder than the Round (40085).

@@ej1025 it is. I have a pair of 40085s on my car and they're almost a little too deep. I am switching out one of them to a 40943 to get the volume level and the rasp up a little more.
I'll put the extra 40085 on another car I'm putting together.
I’d have to argue flowmaster is better bro my Friend has a 6.2 with bora I have a 5.3 with flowmaster and mine is louder at idle (both dull exhaust ) but I recently cut mine before the catalytic converter and its sounds so good

Slowmaster is never gonna be a better exhaust than borla also borla has way better exhaust flow than chokemaster any straight through exhaust like borla magnaflow dynomax have better exhaust flow than slowmaster,slowmaster is a restricted muffler not good for better performance

I really like the stance of the 33x12.50. Really enjoy your videos. What offset of wheels are you running and what modifications did you have to do to make the tires fit? And how much do they rub? I was going to go with 295/70r17. I'm second guessing

Put LED bulbs in your blinkers so they turn on and off as quick as your mirrors.
Now all you need is Texas speed headers. I like those mirrors. Where can I get those with the lights? Oem ? Ty

I have a 2014 Nissan Titan and 2008 Silverado both have borla XR1 for the Titan I have jba long tube will drone I had to put UQ resonator in very loud the Silverado all sweet music muffler only
I've got the Oval as well, and a friend of mine has the Round. I've noticed his is slightly deeper, while mine has more rasp and louder at full throttle. About the same at startup and idle though.
