Im wondering how DJs are doing nowadays, you can’t play nothing without having a problem…
It may be the latest Toronto rappers that don't sound good. I'm old, so I remember the days of Maestro Fresh Wes, Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, Ghetto Concept, and Dream Warriors. Toronto hip hop in the late 80s to the 2000s was more creative and sounded great. Even some US rappers talked about our music scene. The only new GTA rapper I listen to is Haviah Mighty (I know she's from Brampton). It could be these latest rappers are trying too hard.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I remember the days of Ghetto Concept and them - we certainly had more respect from Americans back then, and I think it was because it was authentic and showed a Canadian identity, whereas now, these guys imitate Americans and fail at it. Haviah Mighty has my respect, as well as Northside Benji and Houdini (RIP).
i grew with Louie from the Dream Warriors; Supr Solid cat!
J&F put out some real talented Ppl.
Love n Blessings Family!!!
Dang! You brought me back to the 2000s!!! You’re so right!!!
It’s about what you want to listen to and what connects with you. Those artists were definitely talented but I personally can’t listen to that stuff. I need drill. Dif strokes dif flks. Those days a lot of rap was making it out and doing better after being raised where you didn’t have a choice, now it’s why do I want to leave this place , there still targets to get
You forgot about Point Blank ‼️🔥
Toronto does have its own sound when it comes to hip hop and rap music. The problem with Toronto we abandon our own sound to jump on everybody shit. So we're being exposed for jumping on everybody's bandwagon . real Toronto we don't jump on anybody shit .
@@dagod3475 well said till this day I support my local artists and when local ppl diss I jus shrug shoulder an keep it moving
Toronto had a 5yr stretch where they were droppin the best tracks in the world ( im not talking drake at all) , however torontos rap scenes chance to blow up went down when houdini got shot down
Pretty much
This is correct
1. Work ethic is garbage, 2. Those who have great work ethic, refuse to expand on the topics they rap about, 3. Foolish politics get in the way of investors or even videographers who would like to work with "rappers", 4. EGO (kills careers and individuals), 5. No authenticity, 6. Peer pressure and yes man.
That's all excuses , real reason PPL hate Toronto rappers coz they ain't american
@@DGen7 F Outta Here! - It's not all excuses.
The fact you’re only 21/22 is CRAZY. I’m 27 and you sound like you’re my age, or even early 30’s
I always enjoy watching your videos and gaining some POV from Toronto, Love from Scotland

Most of the good rappers from Toronto are dead, in jail, or they've moved to LA.
Except for me
America has structure and an actual music scene that is being invested into plus the landscape is just bigger. Canada doesn’t put money into anything if it’s not hockey you have to go through a million loop holes just to get noticed out here. You guys want street rappers to stop being street rappers no gang affiliation and a whole bunch of rules as in America they just wanna hear music
Tap in. I’m an all around artist underground new mature work coming soon.
Dream Warriors were way bigger in Brittain thn where they were born n raised. the Canadian industry n guv duz not invest at All in Canada or Canadians n pushes American ish down our throats.
in Canada most of our television broadcasting is n has to be by law, American. most of what we get forced on us is American.
want chnge......B the chnge n dont wait for othrs to make chnge.
As an American, we do the same, but in reverse.
Artists with no gang affiliations or street credentials tend to get ignored unless they're backed by a major label.
Actual rappers in America don't do well. MFS just want to hear disses and songs about nothing.

Everyone wants to be a rapper! If you can't even put a sentence together...leave the rap business alone!
Youre doing big tingz keep it up
I will 🔥
I like your new intro!☺️⭐️
Thanks 😁
I remember back around 2016ish (I can't remember the exact date) but when 365 galore dropped. I was hoping for Jayy Brown to actually continue his grind. He took a break n lost all the attention. One of his newest songs "lost in translation" is a rlly good song. But since he lost that attention he got w 365 galore, it hasn't got that many views. That song isn't block music at all, he has a good voice, decent lyrics, and the song itself has a nice beat. To me whenever someone in Toronto who doesn't make block, they will take a break and lose that attention that they and then just fade out of the spot light.
Started listening to Toronto music in 2008 with califate, c4, mayhem morearty, ganghis khan, Cory fila, etc
There is a few Toronto rappers who represent the Underground REAL HIP-HOP and some in BC who are active really big around Europe yearly touring. DON'T Allow yourself to think this is the only artist from Toronto
Need some J Cole & Kendrick Lamar's of the World in the City 🥴🤷🏿♂

Yoooo..talk da tings.. keep talkin da tings.. that's a fact what you said..tdot youth, stop follow fashion and make music from your heart..tdot has shit to offer..be yourselves
This happens w every city . Each city got its own sound and eventually the city gets the spotlight and then all of a sudden the next city gets the spotlight and now rappers start copying there sound and it don’t sound right at all . Everyone copying ny drill right now it’s a fked up sound too . I even heard Toronto rappers goin over Detroit beats it don’t sound right but your right Toronto was best when it was doin it’s own sound. That’s why the city got the spotlight cuz it was original .
The new Toronto rappers have a rat voice and they have no BARS
😂
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭💀💀💀
Great breakdown.
Thanks 🙏🏾
Truth- people see their 1 or 2 friend doing the rap thing and basically just go and do it as well doesn’t matter if they have that artist hunger or talent. I think the root is really jealousy… IMO.. “if he can do it me too…” (even if I suck)
Makes sense, I see u

Toronto rappers are embarrassing af. Like Canada is not the hood and what’s with the gang violence just get your life together, Toronto rap makes me cringe so bad smh
Toronto music is good its jus that they don't support local music. Toronto fans are ban wagons, not all but a lot of ppl are its more based on who you are then your actual talent.
I know it's trendy to rag on the Toronto accent right now, but we should be embracing the things that make us unique. It's unpopular to say this but I like my Toronto accent and I'd much rather listen to local artists that embrace theirs.
Facts💯 my channel is based on that🤷🏾♂
This is why we need guys like roney and black da don to take off. Those two are true talents that need the support
Fam keep up the good work you explain everything perfect still 2015-2020 the music was bumpinn inda city I was acc proud to be frm here but stop wit the Toronto accent ting deres dead no such thing if yk yk its just black ppl chattin and ppl made it sum lol im originally frm Florida but mi came here when I was like 10 in 2012 & everywhere has its own sound yes but the Toronto accent the way Kendrick and all dem do is not real everybody forcing
The problem is Toronto rappers nowadays don’t know how to keep dem hands clean…them want be gangster too and It won’t let them rise above because them hands can’t stay clean.
As an American I can say I fw Toronto music there’s lots of artists I can name from Toronto that drop heat songs for instance bundog, 100otd, Ksbvndz, 3mFrench, Duvy, much more I think it’s just the accent or flows. Like you have some artists from there doing different things but most of it from there sounds the same idk that’s just my opinion 🤷🏽♂️
Not to mention houdini (RIP🕊️) DopeBoy DQ (RIP🕊️) Bvlly (RIP🕊️) WhyS (RIP🕊️) LNC GRIND, Pressa, Swypa swervo (RIP🕊️) Smoke dawg (RIP🕊️) Nhs jayjay (RIP 🕊️)
Hey watch out for my boy A.S Kings and the MDV Movement, we are on our way to take over the Canadian Hip Hop scene.
they still crabbed about Snow
Jeez youre young af. Good channel though
Still get a banger once every 3 months 🤷🏾♂️ Nuff Respect 💯
Forget about me -roney Keelow had run to and Casper has a few songs
fun music
I would say, it’s the sound! I have many TO artists i listen to even just ones coming up. Problem I hear is that people try to bite each other’s sound, so the beat, autotune and melody sounds copied with some of the artists. But TO has lots of good artists, I would say from experience, Canadians often don’t support locally as much unless you crack streamline somehow! It’s supposed to be the other way around, support the mans as they are hustling, putting in work.
All Facts.
Bro your chopped tdot music was fire from 96 til 2014 ghetto concept point blank guillotine Frankie Payne pure man you can't talk about toronto rap and u just talking about now you got go thru the history fam the maestro the Michee me cnon smh

Its called substance i think every form of music should have substance its the drill rap your talking about that sucks no substance its just strictly fast food rap peace king u know what you talking about bless!
Y'all shoulda been here in the 90s...the US rappers all came up and vibed(unless our fn gov't locked them out!). If any 90s rappers seeing this plz drop somethin and do the city right
Golden era 2013-15? lol try the early, late 90’s my boy
Toronto used to have a sound but it has been forsaken for whats trendy. These artists now rather be martyrs then actual artists and are liabilities. No promoter in their right mind can put on a showcase without the fear of losing their reputation over folks who bring the streets into the music.
There were many guys back in the day who were involved in the streets but you would never tell because the way they presented the music. There was skill and a passion for the artform. Theres too many rappers and not enough emcees. Our city hasnt grown artistically given the exposure it has now with social media and streaming. Its gotten worse generally. You just have to look for what you like and that means sifting through a whole bunch of garbage to get it
I mean... new york drill and uk drill is raps of killing affiliates? wym big mon. saying the dot only does that?
That’s exactly what I said so idk wym boss man
They say this cuz they new rappers forcing the accent, only real recognizes the real, rip the ones gone, rip Hou, rip Tallup🕊️

thorobread is the best rapper from the city IMO. but he got caught up in the streets
Definitely needs hella work....I mean a lot of work!!!!!
This video needs English captions.
So turn it on dunce cap
SAFE is the best thing the city has
The music is not very diverse. Mostly gangsta rap. There really isn't much to hold the attention of anyone who loves rap but not too interested in the hardcore gang thing. Rap came partially out of a people's struggle and is tied to their history; I don't think Toronto has that organic flavour.

Toronto rappers are part time. They in the streets killing being doofus' mostly.
Can’t call it rapping they’re just gang banging on a beat
😂🤣🤣🤣
To me it's just the accent tbh 😅y'all mixing too much shit together
Black communities in Toronto naturally sound like that... that's the problem with the internet right now, it's become such a trend to diss the Toronto accent that people misunderstood that Black people in Toronto have their own dialect since the 1980s
Search up "Toronto Accent and Dialect from the 1980s to mid 2000s" on here. We've been had our own natural accent and dialect. We can't just change that.
Toronto Rappers nowadays are trash. We need to stop copying Chicago Drill Music!
Only golden era of Rap in Canada was in the 90s
