You started at 95th Street in the Beverly neighborhood. Western extends further south from there through Mount Greenwood and into Blue Island. Myself, I usually take Ashland. Ashland is the Goldilocks of North-South streets in Chicago: Not too congested. Not too far west. Not too close to downtown. And it hits all of the important neighborhoods. Western is like playing a game of Red Light. Green Light. The traffic lights are not synchronized. I do like that Western Avenue - Western Boulevard dual section over by Archer.
Well done. Please ride through the south side, south of 95th to 183rd. Please ride down Oak Park Avenue, Harlem, LaGrange. Thank you for working so hard to produce the videos, even eliminating stop lights. So nice. Thank you.
Isn't that supposed to be West Foster Ave. in Edgewater? I'm familiar with Western Ave., at least on the South Side where it runs along the eastern edge of Marquette Park. My late aunt lived in Edgewater in the same apartment for 52 years. Western Ave. had one of Chicago's last streetcar routes; the 49-Western route was converted to bus operation five months before I was born. The old tracks might still be there underneath the asphalt; they still poke through at railroad underpasses in places throughout the city.
