I was born and raised in NYC and spent some time away during college and a few years after graduating. Now that I'm 28 and back in the city, I count my blessings every day that I get to call this place home. I've traveled the country and the world and new york always has a way of dragging me back.
Thank you starting in my old neighborhood, Barrow Street right next to Commerce. The people walking around the neighborhood have changed greatly from when I lived there from mid 70’s thru early 90’s. There was a range of ages of people back then. More people who had spent their whole life in this neighborhood. Little stores, dry cleaners, hardware stores, supermarkets, locksmiths…..Designer clothing stores, fancy restaurants but still, such a gorgeous magical place. Still have dreams in my old apartment once in a while. That little spot where Barriw meets Commerce, The Cherry Lane, The old Blue Mill Tavern, Shopsin’s on Morton, Chumley’s…..Seems like a very long time ago
My first time walking the streets in Greenwich Village.!! Wow, the history of the place is so palpable! It just pops out and envelops you from everywhere.!! ❤️👍🏽
Had friends living in the West Village circa 2005 -2010 (West 10th) so I’ve been down there loads of times. Always got lost 😅 because the street grid system does not apply. But it’s always great to get lost in the city - it’s a magical experience finding places you never knew existed. Thanks for the walk. I miss NYC so much that I often walk the city in my mind when I cannot sleep.
Mellow and relaxing video. Great eye for detail. I lived at Washington and W 11th through the seventies. Haven't been back since 1981. Thanks for showing it as it is now.
Having grown up in Forest Hills, Queens, I thank my family for their hard work and devotion to family having planted me in a world of #1 CULTURE Today's walk is IMO magnificent as food for my heart, soul and mind...🙈🙉🙊
Forest Hills is such a special place, rich with culture and history-what a gift your family gave you! Your gratitude shines through, and it’s inspiring to see how you embrace these walks as nourishment for the soul. Cheers to finding beauty and connection in every step! 🌿❤
@@WalkingNewYorkCity I'm from Europe and sometimes I'm in New York on business. I've already explored most of Manhattan on foot, but I'm still missing other districts. But with a Pocket Pro like this, it's even more fun and posterity also benefits from the walks. Thank you very much for your beautiful work.
I love the park at 15:44 it could use a little fixing up but I like it. I like the way people are playing chess. How nice to just sit down with a "stranger" and play a game of chess.

I like walking around the city, I like this city very much and This is one of the most beautiful cities that I've ever seen. I love this city, Thank you so much for sharing this video with us, I hope you have a great day. By the way, I like your profile picture.
Thanx for the video. Mister/Ma,am, around 10:00 you enter an area with trees with red/pink/purple-like foliage, what tree is that? And could you tell me where can I find more info about the trees in these streets ? Hope y'all have good week.
Some of the best Italian food on Carmine. Joe’s pizza etc. People from most of the rest of the US just can’t get the same great stuff. I know, I’ve tried. Ain’t happening
I always say the best times of the year are at the start of the Autumn through early Winter / Holiday seasons, roughly late September throughout December. The feeling is indescribable because there is an excitement building up inside, while trees surrounding us are coloring and shedding their beautiful decay. I used to take the loveliest walks around these areas of Manhattan, taking it all in by myself and with company, doing light vintage shopping, grabbing a bite and a drink and sharing a vision of ourselves, now all faded memories of a long gone past that still follows me everywhere I go. The pale ghostly visions of my colorful past haunt me; it’s a longing like no other that grips me the most intensely during this time of year because my ghost(s) show themselves, holding up a mirror to my innermost self. And there is only light. Only love.🖤🪽
This comment beautifully captures the bittersweet magic of the season. Thank you for sharing such a vivid and heartfelt reflection-it's amazing how these moments stay with us, like echoes of who we are and who we've been. Here's to embracing the light and love in it all. 🖤🍂✨
I like not having a music background. Too many videos rely on the canned Muzak that can be downloaded for free and usually have nothing to do with the place being filmed. If you must have music then it should be related to the place. In this case, Vernon Duke’s Autumn In New York might be a good place to start.😊
@@kristoffersparegodt420 Right? And imagine seeing New York and your first complaint is that there are no garages! FFS, stay in the suburbs. Nobody wants you in the vibrant city.
Garages and traffic? My guy, its nyc, what are you talking about. No one who lives there drives, the traffic is 90% tourists and taxis, people actually walk y'know

Best neighborhood in NYC
It's certainly a top 5.
Many thanks for the pleasant walk and the early crime scene inspection in 1:43min.

Amazing. So many movies and tv series have been shot among those streets!
I agree and they are magical moments.
Wow this place actually feels like the Cotswolds in England. Very nice for being New York City, who’d have thought 😊

nice summer and super video

Very nice. It makes a pleasant change not since endless vulgar skyscrapers.

Good memories of a trip (incl walk around) there last year
Useful if you add the street name as subtitles, helps viewers place the location
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to add those street names in future videos.
Amo os Estados Unidos ❤❤❤❤❤
Gracias.
Lovely video. I’m wondering what resolution and frame rate did you capture this with?
4K 60 FPS
@ Thank you.
Was your guide the girl in colorful garb? Saw her at the 0:24 mark and again 19 minutes later!
No she was just someone on the street with a lot of fun colors. Good eye however.
I graduated high school
Time to travel to New York City
HighSchool diploma fun
You must do it!
I’m surprised by how quiet it is, I’d always thought of NYC as having constant bumper-to-bumper traffic on almost every street
New York is big.
You can sometimes find these small pockets of quite. You just have to get off the main streets.
@@nostalgia9338 NYC is actually much smaller than my hometown, and apparently quieter too

8:53 poor husky and man. The husky looks so sad :(
Yeah it's unfortunate. Luckily it was not that cold then.
What's a 1 bedroom 1 bath cost to rent there? Like 8k a month?
I don't know but I would probably say about $4-$5k maybe.
❤

Love this part of Manhattan. I strive to earn boatloads of money so I can live in modest accomodations there.
It's a dream worth pursuing!
This was a walk to Washington Square Park, not Union Square.
You're right, thank you for the catch.
