If it makes sense, Nameless King being weak to dark is among the most understandable right up there with dragons hating lightning. He's the blood son of Gwyn, the thing that scared Gwyn enough to fuck up all time and existance was single-handidly the dark. Gods no likey the anti-light (owie)
dark damage peaked in ds2. Not only were hexes an actual class of spells but the damage was really good. And ds1 only had one really good spell, dark bead.
Very interesting run idea! Would love to see a run themed after some another boss like Pontiff or Crystal sage Also one more thing, what were your stats by the end of the run? I know both Dragonslayer Armor and Lorian are resistant to dark, but sweet JESUS that damage was low
i was halfway through a playthrough doing something similar to this (using candlestick and great deep soul) until the archive key didnt spawn. it was pain

Dark damage sometimes it looks like a joke in ds3

i had pretty high intelligence, and a fully upgraded staff, they just, hate deep soul i guess

You can parry Lorian, I think that maybe would have made the fight easier...
you cant riposte lorian nor do you get counter damage, so it really would make the fight harder for the same punish window.

Why did the izalith staff say you can’t wield it during dancer? Did it still do better damage even with the wrong stats?
it was just the strength and faith requirements so it would do less damage if i swung, otherwise it was fine

the archives key doesnt spawn when you haven't killed the other lords of cinder before lorian
The young, bellowing dragon crest rings and the scholars candle stick also boost deep spells.
i got the rings, but the stick wouldn't be worth it
